A purpose is maybe not the best way to define an inclination towards something. A purpose signifies something that you were born to do, would be the happiest, and is something perfectly suited for you. And that just doesn't exist as life itself is much more complex than just one view or just one path. Goals and aspirations change throughout a person's life as we grow as people, take on new experiences, and new horizons open, so having one goal or one purpose usually differs from their childhood inclinations. So switching a person's liking and ''purpose'' is a normal and common part of life.
As for a career, that's a capitalist construct that really doesn't need to be connected to a person's needs, wants and personal goals, and that doesn't mean a person has to choose one or the other, So no, steering a child's life to a career path makes 0 sense as it's interests shift and so doest the economic and career landscape.

The purpose of my life is just to be able to do something better for the world, especially for the environment. I become sad when news comes that animal hunting, deforestation, global warming, or terrorism I just want to put an end to all these things so that there can be a peaceful environment.

Careful analysis of the transitional stages in the life a human (i.e Childhood, Adolescence, Early Adulthood & Adulthood), One would come to see that at the primal stages of life, Our individual purpose was very clear to us and we were drawn each to it in the form of activities each distinct to every child. For example, a child choosing to play with color pencils (paint) because of the excitement that it gives to him/her when other children his age are doing the norm or the example of a child that always sings and mimic the music stars he or she has seen on television e.t.c But as we transited from one stage in life to another and became more conscious and aware of life’s realities, this clarity becomes dampened from Societal happenings, pressure from peers and parents on what is proper and glaringly lucrative & our educational system. As a result of this many distractions and influence, many are pushed into careers that they have little or no interest for and this leads to massive failure in such career options because of the lack of love, commitment & dedication to it. At late adolescence & early Adulthood (ages 17- 25) One is usually thrown into constant depression and confusion on ones Purpose in life. How does one get back in touch with those childhood inclinations? As a prospective parent or a parent, will you guide your children to a career option best suited to the inclinations they exhibit at a primal stage even though the inclination seems unprofitable??
My purpose in life will be to see my self happy, living a good life and seeing my kids play around my abode, seeing everyone around me comfortable and people of the world get to stop fighting each other and embrace peace. I really wanna see the plans I had when I was growing up come to pass I think that will be one purpose that I never wanna see fail.

Everybody that is born into this world is supposed to have their purpose of being into the world,the things they wish to achieve,a set goal that will motivate them to work harder,but it is quite unfortunate that some person's do not know what they came into the world for,they are the causes of the problems that are in the world today,because all they constitute is nuisance to the society.When you have nothing doing,what comes into your mind then is evil,crime,wicked act and as such have made the society at large unsafe for humans.
