Goat just noticed someone sent this address a binary coded message:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/so-long-and-thanks-for-all-the-fish-104987

He is reposting the inputs from 8-20  :/

He's been away. And distracted. Still, searching for "so long and thanks for all the fish" would have found this thread. Twice, at least.

I just found this thread.  Grin

Well, welcome to the party, and don't forget to drink your Ovaltine!

So, we have an address here that had built up a massive war-chest of coins since earlier in the year, and immediately following the BS&T collapse has started to try to launder the proceeds.
Hmmmmm.

Not suspicious in the least.

Over the last several days there have been multiple 6-10k sales on gox. Just look at the volume bars. I wonder where these coins came from... Only Gox knows!

I guess someone with 30k+ BTC that doesnt want to crash the market altogether and wants to get the best price for his coins, thus giving the order book some time to recover after each sell. Thats how it should be done IMO, not like some people with big pockets that just erect huge SELL walls scaring the market down or making mindless market orders.

There is more to Bitcoin than bitcoins.

I dont think he is moving it all to MtGox, as some may believe. It would be rather risky the have all his eggs in one basket, especially in his position. If he wants to avoid his funds seized or monitored, he will naturally move them to other addresses under his control.

I agree, not going to Gox. most of them are moving to similar stops as they were before ending up in payouts previously......

So we have proof this adresse was pirate's and were going to payout before?

Hmmmmm.

It could be pirate, or it could just as easily be someone trying to make it look like pirate, in order to slip under the radar and avoid any unnecessary scrutiny.

Sent 61 to Gox, then the rest went back to him.  It may not be gox, I haven't gotten around to labeling the very popular owners yet, but the address he sent that to owns over 200,000 addresses and has sent money to and from people over 100,000 times...

U mean 61>>K<< BTC or simply 61 BTC??

it's 61.21 BTC  and it looks not like it hit Gox. But like it entered the staging area for a mixer and then went right back instead of running through.

There is a lot of semi uselss ones like that. But then, there is a lot of really useful ones that have some interesting patterns to them if you follow them through the wash.

I'm no expert on this address, but I've just created a wiki page on it. Experts, please help provide information to everyone by expanding it!

To me it's very clear that he's merely splitting up the money among several new addresses that he owns.  I followed 2 paths from his ownership node from the main address, and you can tell hes sending it to relatively inactive owners (since these owners only own a single address and have no other owners who sent them money), which suggests hes just sending it to brand new addresses with relatively no activity.  I only found one deposit where he sent the money to Mt Gox, and another where he probably sent it to a different person.  Then again, I only clicked around for a bit:

Here's his ownership node if any of you are interested -> http://blockviewer.com/#/node/28274126

Whats the tx ID from when he sent funds to MtGox??

Still, I'm simply curious: is vanitygen search space random, or deterministic? That is, do those who start searching before others always arrive first (assuming the same hashrate)?

If it was deterministic then I would be able to steal the bitcoins from 1NaNoBitU2q8czqE2y5rEQPj4qcW6K3mFp or any other address found using vanitygen just by searching for it and waiting about as long as it too the owner to find it.
My coins! Don't steal them Sad
