Just wanted to register but SwC Bitcoin wallet is down. At least that is the message they show me when I try to deposit but they say to try again soon so I guess I should have enough time to make it today.

I just sent 0.5 (all I had on account) chips to youcantwin to test if that works and it seems that it does. So in case their wallet doesn't open up until 1 hour before the tournament I'll ask some kind soul here to sponsor me but we are not there yet Smiley

Bigger starting stack should means longer games but depending on the number of people tomorrow , it might differ.

my sense of SwC's blind structure is the antes/blinds get very high in the mid/deep levels, so it may not extend things all that much. that's just a gut feeling though, i haven't done the math. we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Unfortunately, there is less and less chance to get more players as our series goes on. Covid isolation measures are being reduced all around the world and with every tournament passed there is less chance for new faces to qualify for final table. This week I am expecting about 20 people, but the weeks after that I would be happy with even 15.

between the lockdowns being relaxed and the inviting spring weather, it may turn out that way. our tourneys are so early in the day for me that it's not an issue, but i get it.

see you guys at the tables tomorrow!

Ah perhaps cos of the bigger starting stacks now

Bigger starting stack should means longer games but depending on the number of people tomorrow , it might differ. Could be over 4 hours if there are around 18-25 player tomorrow ( also given that most people play defensively like last week )

14 people paid the fee already according to the spreadsheet ( 15 including me, few minutes ago but I havent notify efialtis yet ), 5 people registered into the game. 10 more people might or might not make it to the tournament . Cross your finger on this,  Wink

Got the passwords and signed me up for both games. Thanks efialtis! Looking forward to playing both and I hope we have many participants.  Cool
I am curious how the start stack of 5000 chips will change the game. Anyway, hopefully we'll all see each other at the gaming tables.

See you there  Wink

Wow, did not know about this 0.75BTC tournament. It might tip the scales so I might be joining this weekend.

Yep, it's hard to commit all weekends to online poker now that isolation is over. We all miss sports, bars and ordinary life things.
If it was a bit shorter (1-2 hours) I might be more eager to join, but then it would not be a real game of poker anymore.

I think this one is only about the time you say, a few hours.

Last game was almost 3 hours, I was top 2 in the last game and it ended just few minutes before the third break so around 2 hours and 54 minutes(?). I could have dragged the game to over 3 hours if Im patient enough but I thought screw it as I am top 2 already and went all in instead.

Most game usually could ended up with more than 3 hours depending on how many people joined but if you intended to play for around 2+ hours, you could get into top ten as the number of the participant is lower than the first series

place in the top 9 in the points standings and you'll qualify for the final table: ~0.08+ BTC prize pool + a ticket to a 0.75 BTC guaranteed tournament. check the OP for details. every qualifier has its own prize pool too of course.

I made this mistake of thinking it was very long. It wasn't really. That was the freeroll version in the midweek that went on for hours and hours.

I think this one is only about the time you say, a few hours.

So people calculate their free time for poker, and I hope we will see more players showing up today and tomorrow, there's still a lot of time. Probably this series will be around 18-19 players, and we can be lucky if we have at least a couple of tournaments with more than 20 players!

bump!

the next bitcointalk tourney is in 2 days. i'm not sure if the spreadsheet is accurate re fees paid, but we've only got 11 players signed up for the next game so far. get in the game!

with everyone under 12 points in the standings, the series is still wide open for the taking, so anyone joining this weekend still has a great shot at qualifying for the championship game.

i hope to see some new faces on saturday! Smiley

I sent chips to Efi yesterday, probably he didn't see that. I think there will be more players, probably free time is becoming a problem for many! I still don't work, and I am not sure will I start working next week or the one after. I noticed now its the same few people sitting there all the time. They are pro hoovers

Those guy are mostly the same as everyone that usually plays on the 750k guaranteed on sunday. Whoever that win the grand final will receive ticket to join the 750k guaranteed game . The vibe and tension could be very different there as those people could be considered as "pro"

We will have 5k starting stacks for the first time.

Nicely done Efialtis  Smiley

Lets see what kind of complaint that you will get next week . I kinda see that they are atleast some complaint in this second series after the 1st week regardless of how good the tournament was in the first series

To be fair - I really don't mind people posting suggestions - I actually appreciate that, after all,  it's the first time we have ever had a series of (poker) events exclusively for bitcointalk users and it's a process so yeah, there will definitely be room for improvement. A competitive attitude is something I also share and that's of course perfectly fine for me - I just don't want us to forget that in the end, fun should come first.

I was going through the last 2-3 pages of this thread and sensed some negative vibes among members. It looks like we have lost the main purpose of these tournaments - 'fun', right? Compare the posts from these 8 pages with 40 from first series and you will find how charismatic everyone was sounding in previous series. But here we are discussing about the late registration problem, how some members are just playing to make to championship, how some members knowingly sit out, how some members play defensively to make point and what not! It seems like the purpose has been shift from 'fun' to 'money' and that's why I think we are seeing the drop of 30-40% participants.

Well, I can tell personally for myself that I don't care about any of the above. For me member may come at the first minute or the last, use whatever strategy he can, I have paid over 0.01 BTC to play these series so far just because I enjoy playing and keep on doing so until I am enjoying. So please everybody let's keep these issues aside and let's not think too much and play with peaceful mind.

Quick Update:

I have added this week's tournament links here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.54348813

We will have 5k starting stacks for the first time. I am not sure if we will manage to get the reduced late registration period by then - if not, please bear with me. Wink

Whoever has already paid the extra chips and is missing the passwords, please get in touch via PM, on Discord or TG.

Thanks guys!

My thoughts are aligned with efialtis

I would avoid making too many changes, SwC has been good to us guys and we don't want to end up pissing them off.

+1, although SwC has nothing to do with the points system. that's all done on our side. they just manually enter the top 9 we give them into the championship.

thanks, i've added some thoughts there.

haha similarly I spent the time bleeding out in the no rake tables.    Cheesy

Does that count as practice?

bleeding chips are you? post some hands here, maybe they are worth reviewing: Poker talk - Specifically Hold'em - Hands and or strategy
