It is getting real.

ICC should refund the ticket price to the audiences for the past abandoned matches.
Audiences bought tickets to watch the match, not rain. Rain can be enjoyed from home I guess.

Does anyone know anything about the refund policy of ICC?

World cup organizing committee should have taken prior measures about the weather conditions. Continuous abandoning of match will cause a problem, because according to the table each and every team will play equal number of games, but the team which gets opportunity to play a d if won reaching the top of the points table will be much easier while the team getting equal points need to take extra efforts for the same.

Finally the suspense over between India vs NZ and rain has again cancelled the match in Bristol and this is hat trick for Bristol that 3rd match in the WC has being cancelled on the same venue. So will India vs NZ happen in this WC in Semis or in  Final ?

The rains will be over within the next 2-3 days. After that the weather prediction is mostly clear. But due to the large number of washouts so far, ICC might have incurred significant losses. They could have added reserve days for the matches, in order to avoid that. I don't know why there was so much resistance against this idea.

The more absurd rule is about the semis and the finals.
If the match is abandoned in semis, the team with higher position in table advances to finals and if the final match is abandoned due to rain, the trophy would be shared by two teams.
So, we are likely to have two world cup winners at once. I've been watching Cricket world cup since 2003 and this is the worst of all world cups I've known.

They have a "reserved day" so that situation may not arise but we can still see rain affecting the matches and a win or loss by D/L method.

I might be wrong but I think today's game was due to be played at Trent Bridge, which is up in Nottingham.

Looking at the table and the games left it could be possible to see an NZ v IND knockout game, I'm leaning towards NZ, AUZ, ENG, and IND being the top 4.

Dammit another match rained off  Sad

The total for the most abandoned games in a CWC was only 2 before this year, and now we are already on 4.

If they had planned the tournament for July instead of June they could have guaranteed some better weather, and as a bonus, also avoided the impact of key players leaving their domestic teams in the middle of the IPL for CWC boot camp training.

Anyways on to tomorrow's match between England and West Indies (if we get a game  Wink). Both teams have strong batting lineups. Despite the windies slight edge in bowling performance this year I'm going to have to go with England for the win; they seem more well-rounded and cohesive overall.

- Root total: Over 37.5 (1.92)
- England top bowler: Stokes (7.20)
- West Indies Top batsmen: Gayle (3.55)
- Team with highest score at 1st dismissal: West Indies (2.02)

^ That last one is based on the England top order batsmen showing some inconsistency in the first few games - looking at you Bairstow and Roy!  Wink

Again another match affected by rain and that too an important match for both teams. I am hating the rains now and I don't want India to lose the important 2 points as it can happen again that matches will get abandoned. It will be worse for the chasing and bowling team as even 20-20 overs will be a big challenge.

The problem with the current format is that in case the match gets washed out, then both the teams will be getting 1 point each. That's so unfair to the stronger team. Imagine Australia vs Sri Lanka match getting washed out and both of them sharing 1 point. It will be very unfair for the Australians. I would rather prefer the stronger team getting 2 points and the other team getting 0.

Australia scored 307 runs against Pakistan today. They all out within 49overs, shame. Pakistan is looking decent until now, 124-2. Pakistan needs a solid partnership to make this match interesting. If Pakistan wins today, they will be one step ahead of qualifying Semi finale.

Pakistan did bowl well in the end to restrict Australia to 307. They start batting carefully but lost their way in the middle overs. They would have been in a better position if they had shown some responsibility in batting. From here, only a miracle can make Pakistan win.  Cry

Yes, Pakistan restricted ausis in the final overs but Pamistan failed to bat and score the runs. Ausis performed very well even in batting and their bowling but Pakistan loose their match against ausis.

India vs NZ is going to be played at Bristol the location where already 2 of the matches which was washed out due to rain at the same venue. Also the ground is wet currently and definitely it does not seems it would be 50 overs match as rain is continuing in between. So we might see some short overs match or a wash out.

Can someone explain to me that why the hell did Sarfaraz take the run and give the strike to Afridi, the 11th man? Simply horrible. Sarfaraz seems to have absolutely no confidence in his batting skills. I've never seen any captain making such a stupid mistake. Roll Eyes

For starters

1. Gave up!! and saving his ass tbh.
2. He wasn't middling the bat throughout his inning.
3. Lack of match awareness during the Chase with tailenders. (very important)
4. In the end, blaming bowlers that they gave too many runs. ( shitty statement)

In recent time 300 target is not a very big target. Pakistan bowled exceptionally well during the death overs, thanks to a magical spell from Amir. Minus his spell, then Pakistan would be chasing the 350+ score, and more importantly, Pakistan needs to get their shit together when chasing the target, it's not the first time.

He didn't even address about team's Fielding at all. How are bowlers supposed to make pressure on the opposition when everyone leaking easy runs and dropping easy catches?

The decision making skills of Sarfaraz was tested today as he missed a regulation catch when the spinner was bowling and then for reviews we saw him having difficulty in taking decisions on whether to go for it or not and finally they lost the review they had when the ball was pitched outside off still on the persistence of Amir he took the review, as a captain he had to take decisions as he clearly knew it was outside off as he was talking about it and was captured in stump micro phone and still went for the review.

I thought Pakistan bowled well once they were able to bowl out Warner and Finch as Australia were looking at scoring 350+ runs. Pakistan also had a big chance to chase down the score as they were ahead in the runs per over but lost wickets regularly which sets them back. Australia now go second on the table behind New Zealand who have a better NRR.
As people mentioned Pakistan is not good in the field as they dropped catches, some were tight but still this is international cricket and if they would have taken those chances they could have restricted Australia to a much smaller total and the middle order is still struggling to score runs, they are really weak in chasing big totals, the best they can do is to win the toss and elect to bat and then defend it with the bowlers they have and that is how they won a match earlier against England.

I do not think South Africa has any hope left. They have a match left against Australia and team like Australia is not going to let them win.

It's petty that they came to this world cup with an impression that they are one of the strong competent to lift the cup but seems like they can not even pass the group stage.
South Africa had a disastrous world cup campaign and there is no way they will enter the next round with the dismal performance they had and one match is washed out due to rain, South Africa is known to choke under pressure and that too mainly in world cup tournaments and they held on to that status in this world cup too, they missed catches in the outfield and leaked many runs in the field, now they can go home early and prepare for the next world cup  Cheesy.

Big match tomorrow, between India and the Kiwis.

My biggest concern is the weather. As of now the weather prediction says that there is more than 80% chance of rain during the first half, and around 50% during the second half. Today Nottinghamshire experienced heavy rains throughout the day and if that repeats tomorrow, then the match will be washed out. NZ is having 6 points from 3 matches, while India is having 4 from 2. They may end up with 7 from 4 and 5 from 3 respectively.

With the way Australia started batting they should have score above 330 runs but Mohammad Amir bowled exceptionally well and was swinging the ball in both directions and Pakistan missed many chances in the field, Pakistan likes to surprise everyone and with a good start they had now they end up losing 5 wickets and will loose by a big margin with the way the match is going.
Tomorrow we have an interesting match, India Vs New Zealand and hopefully we will have the full match.

Edit: Another surprise as the tail enders scored runs than their main batsmen. Grin

It's amazing how Pakista is playing in it's last of overs with the lasts of wickets remaining. These people are real fighters determined to win but the game can still go on any sides.
Pakistan now needs 51 runs from 42 balls with 3 wickets remaining. A wicket or a couple could bring it into Australian side while a partnership would mean a victory for Pakistan.
One of the largest partnership for the 8th wicket in world cup history.
