The rain is really causing problems with another match abandoned between South Africa and the WI. I think it was luck for SA that the match was called off as the WI looked in fine form bowling taking to early wickets for 29 runs in 7 overs so for them to come out with a point gets them on the board however if they have any chance at making the semi final they will need to win the rest of their games which will be a massive challenge as they still need to play New Zealand and Australia and even Pakistan and Sri Lanka could give them some trouble so there is no easy games for SA.

With the match being cancelled and 1-1 points allocated to both the teams with this SA is getting away from the top 4 position now as they would now have to win all the matches and depend upon others in terms of NRR or points now. But SA will want to think how did they lost those 3 matches and due to this they might even be out of the WC now.

My picks for semi-finals:

1. England
2. India
3. Australia
4. West Indies/Pakistan (this slot will probably be filled up by the team having a better run rate)

Very surprising that you have picked West Indies and Pakistan ahead of New Zealand. Just check the points table, and you'll find NZ on the top of the table with 6 points from 3 matches. I have a feeling that NZ can be the dark horses this time. Everyone has a tendency to take them lightly, probably because they don't have heavyweights such as Virat or Warner.
New Zealand is strong and has gained lead in the points table. In most of the series the strength they possess at the beginning matches won't end by the later days of the tournament. With West Indies they've a varied form, in unexpected time every player will be strong and makes unexpected victory. In this regard I expect the fourth position for semi finals to be grabbed by West Indies, not Pakistan/New Zealand.

UK is always a put off when it comes to holding a cricket world cup. Rain is an important factor in cricket as it stops the play and UK can have a rain anytime and anywhere.
The day, time and duration, everything are highly unpredictable. This could led to more trouble on knockouts but also they could led a team in or out in league as well. Teams would be getting lower games to play due to cancellation and that could hurt their points table.

I know that they're currently on the top of the points table, but that'd change. Just wait and see:

New Zealand might have won all three matches that they've played till now in the world cup, but I'd still say that they're not going to make it to the semi-finals. They actually haven't faced any good team yet; the three games that they've won were all against the weak teams: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. I believe that their losing streak is about to commence.

If you have confidence on Australia, you should not change your mind on the bases on a single match. Australia is still a strong team to win the cup even if they lost today.
Now they need almost 10 runs per over if they want to win this match.

I still have confidence in Australia. One or two match is not going to be a big deal for them not to win the world cup. I think yesterday the game plan did not work. Warner wanted to fire up later at his innings but got out unfortunately. Overall Australia did decent in the match.

Yup, Even England lost the match. So nothing wrong with Oz loss here, I am not worried about this lost tbh. They lost the game against the team who played better cricket than them on a particular day. Tables can turn anytime, and it's better to fail in starting phase than Semis or Final. Same for every team including the Indian team.

On funny note : In Australia defence, India was playing with 12 players. Don't forget Sir Jadeja fielded almost 20-25 overs in the last match. The same guy who caught Maxwell-Big show.

Australia lost the match by 36 runs only. They played a fair but slow starting of Warnar is a root cause I think for the the lost. If he had started as normal or if he could bat at 100 strike rate, Australia would win the match.

I agree with you that NZ hasn't faced any strong teams yet and the losing streak for NZ yet to come.
But also you cannot deny the fact that NZ is in good form now if we compare with their last few years performances.

Still I kept NZ in semi-finals in my prediction because I'm struggling to find another better team to replace with NZ. What's your pick?

Yes, you are right all these teams mentioned by you are performing very well but the 4th position has a chance for Bangladesh too because they are also performing well in the matchs till now they played. We need to wait and see how far both the WI,PAK, BAN will perform in the coming matches.

I think i would wait for few more matches before predicting who can make to the final 4.  Australia and India are confirmed for me to reach the final four.
England has lost to Pakistan and a few more big loses can make it difficult for their race to top 4.
Pak / WI / NZ can move up if they get some good wins in the future matches but nothing is certain yet.

Nice pick mate. Let's see who wins in both of our predictions.  Cheesy
Imo, WI doesn't have the quality of courage, energy, and determination in this world cup (though I haven't seen any match of WI, my friends were talking about this) and Pakistan is totally unpredictable.

Maybe we will get a definite answer when NZ will play a match with a strong team, such as England, Australia

I am also sure with these picks for Semi finals but preferring Pakistan because they can do any upset right now and go through West indies is also unpredictable but still need some time.
I personally love Pakistan very much, even I want them to play in semis but as said once they are unpredictable and also seems they don't have the determination to reach that far. Just my opinion.  Smiley

England have a great chance to lift the world cup as they have one the best batting side in the entire tournament but they weak link is their bowling and i do not see them scoring 350 runs all the time and if they score that much then they might win with the bowling unit they have now, looking at the current tournament India does have a well balanced side with some top quality bowlers and if their openers are firing like today they will pose huge totals and they have the bowlers to back it up, New Zealand does need someone to play the anchor role and rotate the strike if they need to pose any challenge to England , India and Australia.
England is favorite in this world cup 2019 and also playing in their homeland. If they miss the chance to claim the championship this time then they'll have to wait another decade imo. This is their golden chance.

All the stadiums in this world cup are batting friendly, so if England scores below 300 with big teams then they will definitely struggle to win.

I think we just saw an early semi final match between India and Australia. I thought both teams played well but India were just too good for Australia on the day. India were very good in the field with two run outs in the match and their bowling was a lot better then Australia so congrats to them on winning the match as they deserved it. I still think Smith and Warner are still a match or two away before hitting top form but they are batting well considering they have been out of the game for over 1 year.

New Zealand, England, Australia, India will surely play semi finals, I don't think WI will get a chance to pull down any one of the top 4 teams (according to the current point table).

If my prediction is correct then I want either New Zealand or England to take the cup and also want to see both the team to play in final... just don't want other two to take the cup or even be the runners-up.

Hot favourite India won their 2nd match in ICC world cup.Australia is a strong side for sure but I would say India easily has beaten them.I think India was superb in the batting, specially Dhawan made a wonderful century, kohli,Pandya contributed decent amount of runs.India is going to the Semi final for sure.
