Hey Royse777 I think it’s fair to label England as the favourites to win it, however I feel they may choke under pressure in the semis or the finals. I feel currently team Australia is in great form, plus now they have the experience of Smith and Warner also to help them win. However I feel one should not rule out West Indies to cause few upsets, and I’m 100% sure Afghanistan will cause a upset.

England and South Africa are two unlucky cricket county. They play better cricket than others all through the years but in big tournaments like World cup they always failed themselves.

For South Africa it's obvious that they can not handle pressure but for England it's an unknown reason, at least for me.

I really hope this two countries break the tradition. They deserve a world cup.
Honestly, every single team who plays good cricket deserves to lift the World cup, but it all comes down to which team played better cricket at the end of the day.

South Africa and England are strong teams, but I would choose England over South Africa at present as the better contender here.

And NZ too. South Africa deserves the most though. They are always the best team with big players but can't able to win a big tournament. They had a better team when Smith was the captain, imo. I wish out of these three team, anyone win the world cup although I will be hurt to see Bangladesh (native) and India to drop out from the tournament.

Australia and Afganistan both are in my Underdog list from start and I am still sticking with my first analysis. That's what we can do at this moment if you judge any team by merits and not favoritism(based on nationality. deep down everyone wants to see their Home team to win no matter how shitty they play Grin)

My favorite team for World cup is England because this team looks very balanced to me. they bat deep, got a couple of good allrounders and playing in their backyard. those days are gone when the host team used to lose in every world cup.

Other than the Eng team, India is doing pretty good if they manage to get their combination right for playing X1 then no one can stop this team.
I would not be very surprised if India and England playing finals against each other.

Australia is the underdog in this World cup or to some extent Afganistan too. this team can surprise any team in their day, they showed the determination in Asia cup.

Newzealand and Proteas are good teams too but they don't give much confidence as a team.

Personally, I would like to see Ind vs Pak in the world cup final. if it happens then everyone can imagine the excitement in the cricketing World and for sure lockdown in both countries during the match.

They are hot favourite in every match but they will not win the world cup. Save this post as reference. If anyone is willing to bet then I welcome them :-)

If England wins then you all share the pot and if England fails to win the world cup then all are mine :-)

Exactly we have seen England under performing in previous world cups. Sad
This World cup is happening in England. The England player will have the home advantage too. Their team is also good. I think they should Win the World cup and make the history.

I'm with you Royse, a little bet can be placed. I'm all in all that England will not win the world cup. It's true that they are all fit in every aspects. Their performance are pretty good than almost all of the teams. They have the benefits too. However, I think they will go maximum at semi although I have listed England as 2nd hot favorite team.

If this happens, Srilanka will once again prove that their management team is poor. He played only 17 matches. World cup is a big tournament and such an inexperienced player should not lead the team there.

England is performing beautifully and they have tje benefit of playing in home ground. That's why I also think so. I think this will be one of the best chances for English to win the trophy.

England has the opportunity because they are host team and having a good performance in recent matches. But you can't deny the fact that India is also another big team who can win the cup too.

I am not surprised to see  Pakistan in his list. It does not matter how bad or how good Pakistan plays they always stay in everyone's mind when it's big tournaments.

I do not think England will win the World cup even if they reach to final however I like his statement:

"India and England are looking strong, Australia have won five World Cups in the past and Pakistan claimed the Champions Trophy in the UK two years ago. Those four teams are probably the favourites."

@JohnBitCo @Royse

Bhai (Bro) I was just pointing out Cheesy hehe

I don't mind high scoring match in ODI and 20-20, I enjoy it thoroughly, but if it happens frequently then it's not that much fun tbh and very harsh on bowlers due to various reasons.

1. Flat-dead wickets
2. Bowlers are not allowed to bowl more than one bouncer, free hit add excitement, but it neutralizes the bouncer's effect in cricket
3. Short boundaries. 60-65 meters are too short IMO.

@JohnBitCo @Royse We were talking about slow batting and aggressive batting in the context of a Test match  Grin

How 20-20 Game changed the mindset of the current generation players and their approach has changed drastically in a Test match too. Resulting test match finishing within 3 days.

The reason for Test match to finish in just 3 days is that we lack the true batsmen and most of the players are just hitters. Remember the old days when most test matches were drawn as it was difficult to take 40 wickets in 5 days.

Yh I know LOL
Since JohnBitCo had his response so I had to answer it ;-P
Somewhere in a topic I said the same thing about 50 overs ODI match. I can not find it though now.

Well, I am taking about the overall change in the techniques of the batsmen.  Wink

@Haunebu bro, would like to add "sensibly" too with any kind of approach. in the current generation, I see many aggressive players but yet to see another Sehwag kind of destructive opener in Red Ball.
No one till now. Can you remember the 2011 world cup? He scored a boundary in all of the matches in the first ball of the innings (Missed 1 match maybe). By the way, sometimes I feel Ishan Kishan will be another version (quite lower) of Sehwag, hahaha.

Yeah, he didn't score anything in the Final, if I remember correctly.

Btw Sehwag was more dangerous in Test Cricket in comparison of  White ball cricket due to his "See the ball, Hit the ball" mindset.
He was always aggresive in batting. His strike rates-
Test- 82
ODI- 104
T20- 145

Most of batsman will never have a SR of 82 in ODI even. I doubt there is anyone in test with such SR. Those days cricket was really enjoyable than now.

Well people love to watch high scoring games as compare to the low scoring ones.  Previously 250 was considered as the good score in ODI but since the introduction of T20, we see many ODIs score reaching 300+.  The reason is that we have develop a habit of hitting throughout T20 matches and bowlers has very less chances to restrict the scores.
I have this same observation however I disagree with saying bowlers has less chances to restrict the scores. We still see outstanding performance from bowlers in low scoring matches. It's the physiology of the game plan which changed.

Before 250+ runs used to seen an non achievable by chasing but now even 400+ looks achievable and they run after it.
