Has anyone else been actually following the NBA Summer league pretty much ? I mean watching these rookies games (not Bronny James please), I think despite this draft class being considered as a very weak draft class, I've actually been impressed by what I've seen from the lads so far, especially the top 10 picks, I know they still have a lot to prove, because the NBA regular season is going to be a whole different level of ball game, but then I'm opined that this draft class might have actually just been underrated by the media and NBA analysts.

Yeah right, they've got a lots of time to prove whatever they've got but they can't avoid that criticizm from medias especially those who are using them as bread and butter as source of stories, I guess for now they just need to embrace the culture though whatever it is they still need to perform and to gain that interest since they've got the chance to play this upcoming season, giving a good hypes for the fans will serve as profits for the franchise.

Things will be more interesting when the actual season starts and how the coaching staff will use them and give them minutes to start playing as a pro.

I agree with that. Two many eyes on Bronny James and they are forgetting the top 10 picks. I think even they are feeling the same as we do. I do watch it if I have some time or the exact moment that I open the television and the game is just starting. But most of the time I want to watch the teams with the top 3 picks only.

Miami Heat doing a great job.
But I am amazed that even those who are in the 2nd round pick are doing some great damage against their opponents. Kyle Filipowski (Utah Jazz), that's one name that should be remembered. Then those who came from the G League are also showcasing their skills. Scottie Pippen Jr. is one who made a triple-double. 23/10/10. Then, there's Kevin Knox II of the Warriors.
I bet they will surprise the NBA once they are given a chance while all analysts' eyes are glued to just one man. Roll Eyes

The Cleveland Cavaliers renewed Evan Mobley's contract for 5 years for 224 million dollars. With bonuses, it will reach 269 million dollars.

The United States won the game against South Sudan with a last-second Lebron James basket. Lebron James saved the team from defeat.

I know that's the going rate but how do people overreact to og anunoby contract and then evan mobley gets 200+ million.  Weird pairing with Jarrett and him on the court.  I get it they pretty much have to lock in theor guys or you just lose them for nothing and 7 footers don't grown on trees.  But dang that's a lot.

Based on their payroll, Garland is the top earner, and Mitchelle is next, but with that new contract of Mobley, he will be at the top now.
https://www.basketball-reference.com/contracts/CLE.html

This could look too much but I think the team knows what they are doing, i mean they won't invest that huge amount to him if he didn't see his value that way, and they can also trade him if which i think many teams will also be interested. I don't know, but let's just see how he'll play next season, hopefully he'll be more inspired after getting a max contract.

That's what I'm hoping too. I don't want to see him getting injured after signing a contract, as that would be a big disappointment for the fans. The Cavaliers had a great playoff run last season, but due to injury, they struggled, especially against the Celtics who won the championship. Next season, if they stay healthy, I see them getting a good ranking in the regular season.

The most important thing is that Mitchell does not get seriously injured, so he doesn't miss a lot of games. However, judging by Mitchell's past seasons, he seems injury-prone, but we can't blame him because he has been carrying the team. The coaching staff should look at that factor; maybe there's something they can change to lessen the load on Mitchell.

Close game. I was shocked when I saw the results, I didn't know South Sudan could play that well against a star-studded team even though it's just an exhibition match. They are very competitive and Team USA should expect more of that against the other countries when the Paris Olympics qualifying match starts. These guys won't back off against them and they will probably play better because everyone wants to defeat them.

Nice contract for Evan Mobley. Well, he showed how good he is on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. Then, his shooting skills are improving, perimeter shots are better, and his post-up game has also gone up to another level. With Donovan Mitchell, they could reach the playoffs again or maybe better at the semis or Finals.

If Lebron just wait for another year and didn't push what he like then maybe there would be less criticism on side of Bronny. But the way how the career his son going its like NBA would be a hell for him especially that he can't meet the expectation of the fans. I feel pity for the guy to receive bashing and any unwanted words came from fans. If they jut wait for maybe another season before they make this plan to happen maybe they might get different result since maybe by that time Bronny will be NBA ready.

Yes, Bronny should be on G-League first maybe to learn something from there. The insert him on the Lakers roster once they see some great improvement on his side.
A lot of people might also be too hard on Bronny BECAUSE his father is Lebron? Have you checked every single draft so far in the summer league? Have you seen 54 better players than Bronny at the summer league?

I have not, I have seen even top ten picks do worse than him, I have seen first rounders worse than him, and this is summer league as well, not even real NBA, they are basically playing against each other and a few young NBA bench players. All in all I would suggest that we let and see what Bronny does compared to his draft class, it's not about how good he is against NBA players, it's about how good he is compared to other rookies.

Just because "he isn't good enough for NBA" doesn't mean he didn't deserve 55th pick, there could be 10+ players on this draft that didn't deserve NBA, but had to be picked because it's the draft, I guarantee you half of these players will be out of NBA in 5 years, hence I think Bronny got picked right where he should be, that seems like the most possible outcome, seems like it will definitely be worth something. I believe that we need to make sure that it is going to be good enough for Bronny to just be a towel waver, that's enough for him, he needs to grow and be better but he needs time.

Bronny must be in the G-league and hone his skills first before going to the NBA. Lakers fans hate Le-GM because of how he's acting like an authority. I hope that they will not put Bronny in the roster at least this season or else, he might face some boos coming from the Laker fans.

Bronny's performance is really weak, and his shooting percentage in the summer league is as bad as it was in the NCAA. However, it's worth noting that there are many other players in the summer league who perform even worse than Bronny. In other words, things are not that hopeless.
I think the conclusions about Bronny's future career in the NBA should be made at the end of the next regular season.

Of course, let's give him a chance to prove that he is not a problem for the team. Although there's no pressure on him since the management already knows what he can offer, he still needs to prove the doubters wrong so he can make his father proud, or prouder. I'm sure LeBron is already proud of his son for making it to the NBA, but he could be prouder if Bronny starts making a name for himself. While it might seem like a small chance, it is not impossible.

If LeBron were a normal basketball player, maybe Bronny would play much more comfortably.
Hmm.. not sure about that because I think if LeBron wasn't special, Bronny wouldn't have been drafted in the first place. So that argument isn't going to work. It's either LeBron is just a normal player and there's no Bronny in the NBA, or he is at the current state the reason why Bronny got lucky to play with his father.

NBA free agency: Evan Mobley, Cavaliers reportedly agree to 5-year, $224 million maximum extension

Quote
Evan Mobley's stock has never been higher. Quite literally.

The 23-year-old big man agreed to a five-year, $224 million maximum rookie-scale extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal could be worth as much as $270 million if Mobley makes an All-NBA team or wins the Defensive Player of the Year award next season.

Do you think he is deserving for this big conract or not?
His numbers maybe not much but his overall impact to the team is probably big, and he is still young and sure he will developed as a player.

Quote
Evan Mobley has averaged 14.2 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 17 games in the playoffs in his career.

Bronny James is getting a lot of criticism. After all, he is not a top 10 pick, you have to evaluate him based on where he was selected in the draft. He won't get a lot of minutes in the regular season, but the important thing is what he can do with them. Every year traditional and social media picks someone like this to make fun of, before it was Thanasis, now it's Bronny. It's important for the player to be able to handle this psychological pressure. If he passes this test, he can survive in the NBA.

Bronny has to accomplish perhaps one of the most difficult tasks. You are the son of the best basketball player in the world and all eyes are on you, in which case it would be impossible not to feel psychological pressure.
If LeBron were a normal basketball player, maybe Bronny would play much more comfortably. There was no pressure on Curry, he was able to become a better player than his father. Such a thing is unlikely for Bronny. But if he can get enough time in the team, it will be enough for him. I don't expect him to be a star player, it would be enough for me if he allows us to watch a good game with his father

It has been weeks and it seems like our main topic here is Bronny, what's up him?  Grin

We can focus to the fresh news and I like to read some reactions about this one.

He's getting a lot of criticism because of how his father's desire to play with his son. Interviews regarding Le-GM saying that he wants to play with his son, tweets on X telling his son can play better than some of the current NBA players. This one is the most absurd one because come draft night, he landed on the 55th pick.

It's not Bronny's fault that he is receiving criticisms. It's Le-GM's fault because of how he speaks about his son when there's an interview. Now the eyes are on him, and it's up to him on how he will handle the pressure both by the fans, and the media. I will just also add that Bronny has a guaranteed 4-year $8M contract. In the history of NBA, that doesn't happen especially for a player who's been drafted 55th. How did that happen? Of course, with the power of Le-GM.

Bronny must be in the G-league and hone his skills first before going to the NBA. Lakers fans hate Le-GM because of how he's acting like an authority. I hope that they will not put Bronny in the roster at least this season or else, he might face some boos coming from the Laker fans.

If the Lakers win a championship next season, we can say that drafting Bronny was a good move. He might not be a big force in terms of offense, but if he can inspire his dad to play better and it results in a ring, then the criticisms should stop. All LeBron wants is to play with his son, and given the special player he is, he deserves some biases just this once. Eventually, he'll be a Hall of Famer, and LA will recognize him if he retires with a Lakers jersey. Bronny is more like Thanasis to Giannis, but Bronny's relationship with LeBron is more special as he is the son of King James.

Yes, I'm tr]strongly of the opinion that the level of criticism he gets is more that of a professional player or at least first round and top 10 draft pick. He's not supposed to be drafted to begin with so I think they need to cut him some slack and by the way it's just the summer league.

I believe in player's growth in relation to due process and great work ethic, so maybe we should all just afford Bronny the chance to grow before we throw his entire career under the bus simply because he's performing exactly like the No. 55th 2nd round pick that he is.

What about Alex Sarr ? The Overall No. 2 pick against Blazers few days ago where recorded  0 points, 0/15 FG, 0/7 3PT, 0/2 FT....

There's no way to control the crowd of emotions that are being done through social media. Coming from internet meme to an actual player, they become public figures but it's hard to understand these people throwing criticisms that aren't healthy whether to Bronny, Lebron and even Thanasis.

but Bronny's relationship with LeBron is more special as he is the son of King James.
And this is the reason why he's getting criticism that much because there's the expectation from the fans, actually not fans but only people waiting for him to fall. Anyway, I'd still wish him good luck, as it's hard to be drafted and get a contract in the NBA. Whether it's nepotism or pure talent.

He is getting criticism because he is taking someone else's spot.  Does anyone really think it's a mystery why he ended up on his dad's team.  If Lakers didn't sign bronny then lebron would have never resigned.  Lakers had no choice.  I feel bad for the kid because he will never come close to anything resembling his dad's career.  Not his fault but will always happen
