Ben Simmons now officially not reporting to training camp. Seems Vegas is betting he’ll be on the Minnesota Timberwolves before the season starts. I’m still thinking Sacramento but we’ll see. I was surprised to hear JJ Redick retired officially today also. One of the better shooters in NBA history. He’ll be missed.

Very interesting.

I wonder if the 76ers will take further action when it comes to this stuff.

They seem to say in media releases that they do plan on fining Ben Simmons if he doesn't turn up to training camp. But the fine seems so small that it really doesn't make a difference to Ben. I agree that Sacramento is the prime destination for him right now.

They might say that but Simmons has made us his mind that he doesn't want to play with his team anymore, and this will force the management to trade him immediately. I'm not actually aware that Kings would be his probable destination, I was hoping he will still be traded with the Golden State Warriors.

Whatever best for Ben and his team, I'll support it as I believe Ben has more to offer that his new team will appreciate.

Man I was wrong looks like Simmons is holding pat.  Sixers said they got terrible trade offers for him.  If I were the sixers I'd let him not show up.  Fine him $220,000 every game he doesn't show up for.  Pretty punk move on his part.  I'd find out where he least wants to go and take whatever that team has to offer for him after midway through the year.  Good luck to the kid coming back to Philly for a game, will need his own security lol.

Here is the official announcement from Reddick:

Good 15 years for him, one of the best three point and free throw shooter we have in the last 10 years or so.

I'm not surprised by Ben's move, he already made it public that he doesn't want to play with Sixers. The only solution for both, Simmons and Sixers is to really let him go and be traded.

True, the more they will hold Ben, the more their roster will struggle. He should be traded before the season will officially start, and I think there's still a lot of time to do it. Ben, I would say is a big help for the team, 76ers would not be a playoffs team if without Ben's contribution as well, it's just that he also has a weakness and the coaching staff was not able to improve it.

That's a good sign that he will not anymore play with the 76ers this season, I guess it's good for him and the team so they can move on, and with this, there's no choice for the 76ers but to trade Simmons the soonest possible time.

Retired at 37 years old, well, his time has come, at least he made some good contribution in his NBA career although he hasn't won a championship.
One of the best shooters in the NBA, this guy!

Regarding KP, yes, it's a chemistry problem, and he lose his aggressiveness inside, I don't know what happen but because he has the skills to shoot outside, he seemed to forget to use his height to dominate the paint and score inside. We thought KP would be the next Dirk, but at the point of his career now, I think it will not happen.

He mostly takes his offense outside and forgets about the speed and height advantage that he got. Either he's more careful now due to many injuries or he's mindset is more focus on taking outside than to make a much higher percentage shots in terms of easy dunks of easy layup shots.

I see that it's still manageable since they already played together for a whole season. The adjustment will be on the coaching staff now.

Kidd needs to build good chemistry between players. Luka understands and able he's capable of adjusting both offense and defense. Role players are in need to follow that example from Luka, to jive everything inside the court.

I think it's a mix but he definately has range.  And maybe tactically pulling a big man out of the paint along with his range.  But to me he might put up okay numbers but his game impact is barely ever seen.  He doesn't have that killer/win mentality or he is too nice.

Thomas had his best season in Celtics in 2017 where he averaged almost 29 points a game and about 6 assists. Well, returning to NBA after quite a time, he will need some time to cope up with the environment and kinds of stuff. But I don't think he'll be able to run for the all-star team but maybe the best sixth man award is something he can make a run for. Let's see how he does, pretty excited for this.
His first problem is get a contract. He may be thinking like, do it one problem at a time. He may also want to reconsider looking for different leagues that would give him a higher chance to be paid while playing his most loved sports.

Updates about injuries of Klay Thompson and James Wiseman.
Looking forward to see a comeback before the All-Star game. GSW will need every help they could get to avoid being in the play-in tournament again. If they can play as soon as possible they may reach a higher seed than Nuggets or Mavs.

With Klay, the chance to improve is very high. We know Klay as a two-way player he can help both sides.

With Steph leading them in their scoring department, Green and Iggy will be there to back the splash bro. I just hope that Wiseman will be more healthy this season as he needs to fill the missing piece in chasing another title.

With a complete cast, Warriors always have that chance, plus the fact that fans will always love them. Surely it will be an interesting upcoming season.

I do not agree that he doesn't have a space in NBA for him. I just do not think that teams want him, simple as that. Quinn Cook, Avery Bradley, IT, Jeremey Lin, Marc Gasol all these players should have a spot in the NBA. However, these are not players you see waving towels at the end of the bench getting maybe 100 minutes total all season, they are players who would want at least 10 minutes a game, and that is why we do not see them there.

These are not untalented people, they are talented and IT should have stayed in NBA for all these years, him leaving itself is a disgrace to sport itself but dude can't be a no show player, he can't handle that, maybe now he would but I doubt he would otherwise. Look at Melo situation, dude was a starter and a good player, after a while people realized that he can't be given that many minutes because he lacked the talent at that age, so he had to be gone for a while to realize he would be fine with whatever minutes he is given.

Since we talked about Dallas Mavericks, I just recently know that they are finished as a runner-up on the Kyle Lowry trade. If happened, Lowry will be a good backup for Luka Doncic and Tim Hardaway Jr. This is something I looked forward but Lowry chooses the Miami Heat. Not with the money as New Orleans Pelicans has the best offer for Lowry. Maybe he thinks the Miami Heat core squad is much better compare to Dallas Mavericks.

Or maybe, he doesn't want to play at the Western Conference were making the playoffs is so tough and challenging.

Mavs Plan to Sign Kyle Lowry: How Close Were They?
Yes, and minutes.
Heat doesn't have the proper point guard and this could be his time to shine again after the championship with the Raptors.
I am not underestimating Tyler Herro but he has so much to learn and Lowry might also help with how to be a better point guard.
Mavericks have Luka so if I am also to choose I would rather pick a team that would give me more minutes than warming the bench.
Wise choice for Kyle.

Lowry in respect to him knows how to adjust, remember when Derozan still play as the main man of the Raptors,
Lowry play as backup and when it's time for Kahwai to shine in Lowry still there to back him up.

For me personally, Miami is fitter with the way Lowry play,  he's not going to be a problem with
the current stars as he always knows how to adjust and fit himself inside.

Either Mavs or Miami, Lowry will bring impact to the team, offensively and defensively this guy is an all-star he's capable of doing both.

He played 2 seasons already with the Dallas Mavericks, and if you look at his stats, you will be impressed but it's different from what we see in the actual game as we like to see his impact, like doing the last shot or lead the team to win against good teams in the NBA.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/porzikr01.html

his average PPG in the last 2 seasons with the Mavericks is 20 points, for a big man, it's a decent number already since he has improved his stats compared to when he was still playing with the NYK.
His points per game for an offensive minded center is normal. I think more problem lies in other aspects of his game. Just take a look at his average assist and you'll see how low that is compared to other highly paid centers. It seems he can't really blend well with teammates since his AST didn't really improve much from his NYK days.

Looks like Marc Gasol officially retired from the NBA today. Had he done this last year the Lakers probably would have won a championship, but that’s neither here nor there. After securing a release from the Grizzlies, Gasol signed a deal to return to Spain to play. I imagine he’s going to play a final year there and then retire and live out the rest of his days in España.

I remember Marc Gasol was impressive in Grizzlies days together with his squad Tony Allen, Randolph, Rudy Gay, and Mike Conley. It's just sad they didn't win a ring with that line up. The Western conference was just stacked with a lot of talents during those years. Luckily, Marc just got 1 with Toronto a couple of years before he retires.
He'll probably play with his brother Pau in FC Barcelona soon.

KP is a disappointment to others but for me, if there's no ego involved, he will be a better teammate and tandem for Luka. I trust both Luka and KP can work out that. Trade is not the solution.

KP should improve more and I doubt there's more he can improve now that he is on the 3rd season with the Mavericks, I mean we've seen enough from him.

As mentioned during the last playoffs, for a team that already has a 3-1 lead in the series against the Clippers and still lose, I think there's a problem with their defense, and their big man KP is supposed to play a big role on that but we didn't see his defense and they were abuse by the Clippers offense. There were games in the series where Luka was injured, that is supposed to be the time where KP will step up, but as I said, we didn't see it.
KP might be doubting himself too because of the injuries that he got in his NBA career.
Lets face it, KP is very prone to injuries and that is the reason why him and Luka can't have a chemistry to each other.

They are the dynamic duo of the team but it seems like that we can't feel KP at all or maybe its because we are always focusing on Luka. Either way, a huge contract being given to him is a proof that the management of Dallas trust him and they believe in him. Well, KP is an all-star level player we know that. Its the injuries that is the problem. I just hope that this season, we will feel the impact of KP in the team and not only Luka.

What's the hot topic in NBA right now? I want to change poll but couldn't find a good question. Let me know your thoughts please.
It seems like there is no doubt about LaMarcus Aldridge's return. Thanks to all voters.
Since pre-season is within reach with just 13 days countdown, why don't we just do a poll on which team will get the highest amount of wins?
We tally it and then, we could start the new poll of the season. But there might be better poll options so I just told my own suggestion.  Grin

I thought it was just Isaiah Thomas that is working out with the Warriors.
But there are 3 players that are trying to have a chance to get their own break from the ex-champions.
Warriors to work out Isaiah Thomas, Quinn Cook, Avery Bradley and others, per report

Quinn Cook was their ex-teammate and I heard he has the upper hand to take the last slot of the Warriors roster.

With lots and several active point guards and shooting guards on every team, I doubt someone will hire the service of IT nowadays. After recovering from the injury, he hasn't seen improve since then. If he will be signed by a team, still be no impact since he will still be on the bench most of the time. Rather than paying a much high contract, teams will just use their current roster for a point guard substitution.
Different from Derrick Rose that even coming from an injury, he still can produce good numbers. Different also from DeMarcus Cousins since he is a Power Forward and can be a Center and that is what teams are preferred of. NBA teams nowadays don't have the interest to sign an unrestricted free agent like what happened to Lance Stephenson and Jeremy Lin unless a player is a superstar. Both are not injury prone and can still play but no teams signed them.
Rather than being a player, I guess time now for IT to just enjoy joining a basketball league outside NBA or try to be signed by other countries' leagues like CBA. Then return to NBA as a coaching staff in 3-4 years.
Yes, you are right!
We don't know if isaiah thomas will come back 100% as before (I think it's hard for that to happen), I hope things work out for IT. Will be insane to see and I would like to see isaiah thomas and DeMarcus Cousins playing together again like in the Sacramento Kings, but this is improbable

^^ First of all, if you sign a free agent you always make think that you got a good deal for free. Especially when the player is young and you can build him up for the future, but sometimes it's not that easy. Considering IT's age, it's highly unlikely that people will so much interest in him. Even if he is a free agent. Well sure you can buy him for free but I highly doubt that he will be given anything more than a filling role in almost any team. But as a coach, he might prosper. A lot of players who were not so good in their Glory days have shown real promise as a coach. But as a player, I think his time has come.

Miami already made it to the finals two years ago, and maybe this one sway Lowry to bring his talent to the South Beach. Also he will have to play with a lot of great players in the Miami Heat, as compare to Dallas wherein it was only Luka. So Lowry chooses a team that has a good chances to enter and be competitive in the playoffs and hopefully they can go to the finals again in the East (but it will be tough with Nets and Bucks).
