Today will definitely be a special day, I think I do not remember any season where this many spots were all left to the very last game, normally the seeds and positions are all decided way before this, maybe like one position or maximum two would change, but not this many, we are talking about so many changes, teams are getting a bit more equal in power. That's good though, we used to have parity, like the top used to be so strong, and it became a little boring that way.

This means that whoever ends up eight seed, I can't guarantee them losing to first seed for example. This is going to be a great last game day, and it's Sunday, so it's available for most of the world at great hours as well, that is a very good thing.

As both Jazz and Blazers have no chance to move forward while against NO they are trying to avoid the play-in, they need to win but that's also the same thing that Lakers needs we will see if how the game will be played and which team will take the win.

That's why among the games tomorrow, this one is the most interesting game to watch.  Pelicans have an upper hand due to their homecourt advantage but the Lakers has been in this kind of situation many times, so I wouldn't be surprise if the Lakers will win since Pelicans is still missing the service of Brandon Ingram, while the Lakers will be playing in full force on the last game of the season. I would like to take chances here,  this game is very important for both but on the gamblers side, I think the underdog gives more value here so I'm betting on the moneyline for LA Lakers.

He is still questionable in the injury report, but a few days ago, it said that he'd play against the Lakers. But I think this game is important, so most likely he will play. Also, it is the Lakers, and players always want to play against them after being injured for a long time (LOL). But I think despite whether Ingram will be playing or not, the Lakers can still manage to get this win since both LeBron and Davis are playing, and this is also an important game for them. The Lakers also have the lead in their season matchup, 2-1. Another thing I want to add is that I think that they (the Lakers) want to bounce back from that horrible game against the Grizzlies. So we can see both teams giving their best in this game.

Lots of scenarios on the last day.  Adam silver gets a head nod on good move making the play in touny.  Amd even in the standings.  3 way tie for first over in the west.  One slip and you can be facing a road series in the second round.  The 2-7 seeds in the east are up for grabs and np one knows who is gonna play who yet.  Gonna be a hell of a day watching ball.

Lakers have a tougher job, they are going to play against Pelicans, Kings have a much easier job, they are playing against Blazers who are tanking and I am sure that they are going to win that one. Lakers managing to get that 8th place is good for them, they will Suns probably, but maybe Pelicans yet again if they beat Pelicans and Suns wins too that means Pelicans drop to 7th as well, this is why Lakers have a hard job beating Pelicans ones.

Let's see how it goes but I feel like this last bit of situation will be very very tough for Lakers. If not, they could just beat whoever is at 9th-10th they face, not easy to beat Kings or Warriors as well, so it is going to be hard to get a win there too, but easier than Pelicans or Suns.
Tonight's game is extremely important and this kind of games are difficult to bet for me. They are suddenly at 8th spot after Warriors and Kings lost. The pelican match is away and it will be tough. But if they come out with a full squad, of course they can win. Again, Anthony Davis's health is quite important for the Lakers. The opponent will also play to win as they will want to rest until the play-offs. It means that another very good match is waiting for us. If the thunder or wolves secure the number 1 seed in the west and they stay at number 8, they will have a better chance of advancing to the next round. Or since the nuggets will win big today and improve their chances of finishing as the leader, if the lakers can get the number 7 seed from the play-in, they will have a good chance against the thunder or wolves. It's a very serious race.

Basically, if the Lakers win the game against the Pelicans, they will be facing each other again in the play-in for the 7th seed. So they will be facing each other twice (if the Lakers win the last game of the season).

Pelicans will do everything to secure their spot for the second round knowing that whoever will be there for the play-in is a competitive team that can really upset anyone, taking the 6 spot might give them secure position for the 2nd round and will be able to play for the playoff series, though same with what you mentioned, if ever Lakers pull an upset they might be facing against each other in the play-in, eveyrthing still possible and positioning still important for both teams as they needed to win their last remaining game.

And with the way they are playing in their last couple of games, they are going to look to beat the Lakers in their game. And it will be good to see Zion as healthy as before and being dominant.

Break out season also for Trey Murphy, since BI is out, he step up his game and become the next offensive weapon for the team. Alvarado is also taking it up a notch, not just distributing the ball, but he also a scoring threat now specially in the 3 point area.

At the current ranking, it will be so tough for the Pelicans as they will be facing the Denver Nuggets in the first round. They need a complete line up to have a chance against the defending champion as this team is really good and now that Murray was back, they are now in full force.

They should hope that things will change after the last game tomorrow, the top 3 have games left but most likely they'll win their games so I think nothing would change.

Yeah, I also believe that the curent rankings will not change as those on the top ranks will try to keep that stats not unless there's strategy that will need to execute, though all of them should have that winning mentality to keep trying their best, we don't know what the next round would be, upset always present as we know most of the teams are really improving especilally in the west side.

For sure teams are so prepared they are fighting for 8 spot and they don't want to be on bottom since its like it gives them certain momentum booster if they can achieve that. But its not really easy for Warriors to be in that spot since Lakers is so hungry and we see that they perform so different compare on earliest part of regular season. Lebron James is putting monster performance together with his teammates so provably that Kings and Warriors cannot sleep so tight as Lakers is so capable to end this and get 8 spot on the west. I'm might go with Lakers tomorrow since they have the momentum and I believe they might perform more better as they really need to win so for them not to drop on standings.

It's not about who is hungry because all the bottom 3 are hungry for the win. We can predict based on the teams they will be playing tomorrow and it seemed like the Lakers is the one that have the toughest opponent. We can evaluate that easily based on the betting spread listed below.

Warriors -8 vs Jazz
Kings -17.5 vs Trail Blazers

Lakers +3.5 @ NO Pelicans.

See, the Lakers have a tougher opponent, and I think Warriors and Kings will win their respective games easily.

What makes it tougher is that the Pelicans also need that win to avoid a tiebreaker with the Phoenix Suns. Because the Suns will get the 6th spot as they won against the Pelicans 2 of 3 in the regular season.
The Lakers will probably have a hard time getting this win and they will fall at number 10 in case that happens because both Kings and Warriors will win the tiebreaker.
Let's see if they can somehow win it to stay at their number 8th seat and avoid the twice-to-beat program. It will be fun to watch the rivals Warriors and Kings beating each other to be kicked out for a playoff chance. Cheesy There is a good rivalry there and it will probably be filled by a lot of fans.

Anyways, all teams are playing tomorrow for their final games. The good thing about these games, the outcomes are very important to almost all of the teams except maybe for Boston who already secured the top spot while the Wizards are already out for the playoffs.

They are well prepared on this but I have a feeling that the Warriors will advance t 8 while the Lakers and Kings will be at 9 and 10.  Then, the Warriors and Suns will play and the Warriors will win, they'll be in the playoffs while the Suns and Lakers will be playing for the last spot. I think that's not what everybody think but I'm betting against the Lakers tomorrow so they'll lose.  Grin

Lakers will win if they are at home but since they are on the road which they are not good as evidence by their road record 18-21, so they will likely loss.

Here's some visual help and all the possible seeding scenarios in both conferences.

Warriors have an outside chance of moving up to the 8th seed, they need Blazers to beat the Kings and Pels to beat the Lakers.

In the West, the Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets are still locked in a three-way tie for first place. According to NBA Communications, this will be the first time in league history that three teams all have the same record and the chance to earn the No. 1 seed through 81 games. If all three teams win on Sunday, the Thunder will get the top seed, as is the case if all three teams lose.

OKC grabs 1st seed with a win, which is likely to happen given that the Mavericks have both Kyrie and Luka ruled out for the season finale.

Quite interesting to see these 3 teams having exactly the same standings with only 2 games left. This could change anytime and we might not going to see the Lakers and the Warriors play against each other in the play-in tournament.
The Lakers might going to play against the Kings and it will not be a good match up for them as the Kings were undefeated against the Lakers in the last couple of years, and also Davis did not win against Sabonis his entire career. So, the Lakers are in huge trouble now.
The Warriors are also not in good hand against the Phoenix as they are 1-3 against them and only won the last game with only 1 point difference.
Well, things are getting interesting in the last 2 games for both the play-in teams and the top seed teams.

The best things that would happen to the Lakers are: first, New Orleans needs to win against the Warriors; they need to beat the Warriors so the Warriors will go down in the seeding. Next, Phoenix needs to beat the Sacramento Kings too, and with that, Sacramento will go down in the seeding. Lastly, the Lakers need to win all of the remaining games they had, which are the Pelicans and Grizzlies. The Grizzlies should be an easy win for them, and the and the Pelicans are 50-50 since Brandon Ingram will be suiting up (of course it's the Lakers LOL) after missing some games. But I think the Lakers can win this if they manage to set the tone early and are healthy.

With that, the Lakers will be the 8th seed, and they can escape either the Sacramento Kings or the Warriors since it will be 7th vs. 8th, and they should win their play-in so they can get the 7th seed and escape the Warriors and Kings. If they manage to manage the 7th seed, they can face either the Wolves or the Thunder in the first round.

Just as expected, the Warriors lost to the Pelicans 109-114, the Kings lost to the Suns 107-108, and the Lakers survived maybe one of the worst games of the season, 120-123 against the Lakers. Now, with the Lakers at the 8th seed, they have control of their own destiny. They just need to win the last game of their season against the Pelicans; with a win, they can guarantee the 8th seed, and if they lose, they will be at the 10th seed. This will be important for the Pelicans as well, as they need to win this game so they can secure the 6th seed and avoid the play-in, and with a loss, they will fall to the 7th seed.

Basically, if the Lakers win the game against the Pelicans, they will be facing each other again in the play-in for the 7th seed. So they will be facing each other twice (if the Lakers win the last game of the season).

The Western Conference is definitely making the end of the season a little bit more interesting than normal. There’s such a close run for not only the play-in, but also at the top of the conference. A huge contrast to what we see in the Eastern Conference, where it is very clear there is a big gap between number 1 and number 10.

I think the Lakers, Warriors, and Kings are all fighting for the last play in game spot aren't they? 2 out of 3 of those teams will not make the Playoffs. I think Lakers prob make it in personally.

This is the rules of the play in
https://www.nba.com/news/nba-play-in-tournament

Loser of 7 and 8 will face the winner of the 9 and 10.. So if the Lakers will end at the top 8 and they loss to the Suns, they still have one shot by playing the winner of 9 and 10.. So there's an advantage in finishing at 8 rather than 9 or 10.

Yes, it's better to be on the 8th position rather than 9 or 10 between. 9 and 10 will be on a death match or at least they have to win twice to advance. And after that they will be facing the top seed.

Kings losing again and now they are tied with the Warriors at the 9 and 10 spot, and the Lakers moving to 8th position now.

I haven't check the history of the last 3 teams, do you have an idea what would be the ranking in case they will end up tied? I know that these three will have their last games, but what if Lakers will lose and the Kings and Warriors will win, that would result to 46-36 record for all three.
Based on this website: LINK
Quote
Combined Head-to-Head Record: The first step is to examine the combined head-to-head record among the three tied teams. The team with the highest winning percentage in matches against the other two tied teams gets the higher seed.

Divisional Win percentage: If the head-to-head record doesn't break the tie, the procedure moves to the divisional win percentage for teams from the same division. The team with a better record against its divisional opponents secures the higher seed.

Conference Win Percentage: If the divisional records don't resolve the tie or teams are from different divisions, then conference win percentage is the next criterion. The team with a better win percentage against teams from its conference gets a higher seed.
I did a quick look at the record of these 3 teams when they face each other, and the Warriors won in both series against both teams. Warriors won against the Lakers 3-1 while they are tied against the Kings 2-2. The Kings swept the Lakers in their games this regular season 4-0, so I think if in case these 3 team's record will be the same, the Lakers will go 10th "IF" they will lose on their final game against New Orleans. As for the Warriors and the Kings, the 2nd option can't be applied because they're both from the same division, so the 3rd one will be the basis on who will be on the 8th seed, and by looking at their record, the Kings have 29-22 while the Warriors have 25-26 therefore, the Kings will be on the 8th while the Warriors will be on the 9th.

TBH, I don't know if I'm right but in case of a triple tie, the Kings will be the 8th followed by the Warriors at 9th and the Lakers will be at 10th. The final game for these 3 teams will be very crucial for their position in the play-in tournament. Correct me if I'm wrong please. Smiley

The Lakers will need to win against the Pelicans on their last game, otherwise they'll fall below the 10th seed again if the Kings and Warriors win theirs. As far as I'm aware of, tie breakers in the NBA are head-to-head record first. So, that means the Lakers are below against the Warriors (1-3) and the Kings (0-4).
The Warriors and the Kings on the other hand is tied against each other this season, so I think there is another criteria for this to determine who's going to be in the 8th seed. I have been following the games from these 3 teams as things are getting interesting between them.

The play in for the 7th and 8th seed has certainly made it interesting.  Think about that, if it wasn't in place only 1 of the Kings, Warriors and Lakers would make the playoffs.  At least they have a shot and it definitely makes game 82 wildly interesting.  Getting that 8th slot is key.  You get 1 away game and can lose and still have a shot.  Being in the 9 and 10 hoke and having to win 2 one and done games in a row only to face an away series against the first seed is brutal.  Out of any team I think the Lakers would be best fit to take on the #1 team with Bron at the healm.
