Congratulations to the Lakers!! Finals are real.

I've never thought that it's been 10 years since their last finals appearance.
This is my question to myself after watching the game. Thanks for the answer. 10 years was such a long time. I'm glad Lakers are really back to the finals.

Now it's time for them to prepare for the big game against the winner between Celtics and Miami. Anyway, congratulations to the team (Lakers) and their fans. Smiley

That wouldn't be possible without Lebron James, he knows how to do the job as every team he is playing will go to the Finals.

Miami vs Lakers, that sounds good to see, or you guys like Boston instead?
I thought so too. LeBron really did a great job with today's game as well as his other teammates. I hope this'll continue for the upcoming season.

Miami vs Lakers would be interesting. Miami was LeBron's former team so we'll see how he'd play against them.

I want the classic rivalry of Boston Celtics and LA Lakers.

One of the best series in the past that I can't forget, and Rondo is said to be in his prime at that time when he is playing with the LA Lakers. Though, I am not certain since Miami Heat is the fans' favorite right now and they wanted Miami Heat to advance. Correct me if Im wrong but if Miami advance through the Finals, AFAIK, this is their first finals after Lebron left the Miami.

I would give that 30% chance of happening, they need to beat the Heat twice in a row to advance in the NBA Finals, and actually if they will make it, I might put my bet on the Celtics. My only concern with this team is their Center, can they contain big man of the Lakers, I'm afraid that Lebron will just continue attacking the paint like he did with Denver.

Check the current odds, that would give a better picture of the current situation, and look at Lakers to win in the NBA Finals, they are only 1.22, that's how favorites they are, I don't think that would change regardless of which team in the East they will face.

You are definitely right, Lebron gave Miami Heat a championship, I think that was 2 times if I'm not mistaken, not he is trying to beat his old team if indeed the Miami Heat will advance.

They are the champions twice as far as I know too with Chalmers, Bosh, Wade and Allen, most of them though are retired now except Mario Chalmers whose playing on other league. A lot of histories are being rewritten, like the Lebron's run is the same with Kobe's run to his fourth ring, then the yellow and the green rivalry.

The crowd favorite was Celtics, that's according to the series odds and the odds per game.
In game 6 tomorrow, Celtics is favored by -3.5 points, but of course we see some fans hoping that they will end the series by tomorrow.

If Celtics will face the Lakers, we will see a better odds for both sides, but of course they have to come back and win.

Lebron shows why is he is the King, he took over the fourth quarter and bring the Lakers to the finals again after a decade. Would like a classic Boston vs Lakers, but I'm sure fans are not going to regret a Miami vs Lakers as well. I watched their game Dec 2019 and it was really a tight battle, Davis 3 was the difference back then but Miami could have won that game as well. But regardless though, I think Lebron will bring the Lakers the NBA championship this season.

How does the celtics surviving game 5 make you confident the lakers will win game 5, they are 2 completely independent games/series.

Well, that means the Lakers will have enough time to rest and watch both Miami and Celtics playing each other for them (Lakers) to come up with an effective plays to counter their opponent in the Finals.
That's the whole reason why I said the Lakers needs to close out the series, specially If the Celtics survives game 5, and that's just what happened.
They might be completely different series, but I might say the Lakers have the advantage now in terms of the preparation for the next opponent.

Good analysis you have here which its really an advantage for them since they can rest and build up a strategy since they do still had the time. How much more if Miami-Boston would go through game 7? which would really be enough for them for making preparation.Lakers did really close out the series and Lebron is on fire an another triple double. This is getting more interesting as we approach the Finals.
Would Miami will able to close it out on next game or Boston would be still alive?

Congratulations to Lakers FANS.

Lebron James has a very good performance, he managed to finish with a triple double and he will soon surpass Magic Johnson's 30, Lebron had 27 as of now.

https://clutchpoints.com/lakers-news-lebron-james-records-2nd-30-point-triple-double-in-the-playoffs-its-never-been-done-in-la-history/
Quote
LeBron tallied his 26th career triple-double in the postseason to inch closer to Magic Johnson’s 30 and break yet another league record. He has 120 triple-doubles in total.

BIG win!... now, they will just wait for the winner in the East, if Miami will finish the business tomorrow, then we might see the NBA finals to start soon.

They can watch it out and plan more ahead, this is the advantage after finishing the series much earlier.

Plus that they can relaxed out since the series between Miami and Boston is still ongoing they have more time spending together
players bonds and good chemistry is not only inside the court but also outside.

Congrats Lakers Fans!

Denver is not looking good right now.  Jokic getting his 3 fouls quickly in the first half set them too far back.  He got a quick 2 fouls in the beginning of the game which sealed their fate possibly.  He needed to at most of the game, no way they come back from here at this point. Down 77-66 as of this writing with half the 3rd and the whole 4th to go.  Any shot??

Edit: lol just like that its 87-84.  Should be a killer 4th quarter

I am already expecting that Heat is the one that will wait in the finals. I'll be watching the game of Denver Nuggets and Lakers later on.

Lakers will play better this time and they wouldn't go easy with Nuggets.

Lakers still in lead 3rd quarter is almost over.

I like how they play they are not giving any easy basket and really giving hard time though refs keep calling fouls
but that's a good sign they are not giving any easy points and they are doing well with their offense.
They've just won.

We might see the last game later if the Lakers will win the game. But if it's going to be 3-2, there's going to be another game and might get up to 7 games.

Honestly I agree with the idea that even if Lakers somehow lose today, which could potentially happen, they will not be losing game 6
It's true, might lose the game later but still win the next one.

If that's the case then we will take the Denver Nuggets this game, but if Davis will play, then things could be different as they are the complete Laker's squad who beat the Denver 3 times in this series already.

As per update on Davis injury. https://www.rotoworld.com/basketball/nba/player/29801/anthony-davis

Quote
Anthony Davis (left ankle) is being listed as questionable for Game 5 against the Nuggets on Saturday.
Frank Vogel said he was expecting Davis to be good to go for Game 5, so we'd say he's a lot closer to probable for tomorrow's closeout game. Check back for another update following Saturday's shootaround.

Honestly I agree with the idea that even if Lakers somehow lose today, which could potentially happen, they will not be losing game 6, we are talking about lebron here and there is videos going around that I have seen where Lebron decided to guard Murray and when he did that at the last moments of the last game, he actually guarded him very well and made him not be able to do things he normally does. Offensively Lakers wasn't %100 at that point, they were good but not %100 but Lebron switching to Murray really changed the game pace a lot, Nuggets have to figure out how they could play without Murray being a beast, maybe focus a bit more on Jokic playmaking, they already do look to him when they need a score but they may also need him to set the play as well, otherwise Lebron may just set the series right here tonight.

Lakers definately want to win tonight.  No way they want to go into a game 6 with the nuggets with a do or die game on the line if they lose that one too.  If denver wins this game tonight its definately going to a game 7.  I think tonight's game will be the toughest for the nugs out of all the games so far.  Fingers crossed they adjust enough to skweak one out tonight

Very well, Rondo has great performance in their last two winnings, his classic fake pass was still there and can still confuse the defense of their opponent. He will be a great factor in this series, even in the NBA finals if indeed Lakers will break the curse on the opposite team of Denver who came back from 3-1 disadvantage.

We are just talking about Rondo and Howard but how about McGee? He's been in the bench for so long in this series and I think he could contribute in the team with his under the basket offense. With a lot of great players in their roster, I guess they are having short period in the court. Is Javale Macgee injured? He just played for five minutes in the last game.

AFAIK, he is not injured.

I've been wondering that for some time now and they are not using McGee the deeper they get from the playoffs. I guess you could read this article since they already explained it well why they chose Howard than McGee.

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/lebron-james-lakers-and-these-3-1-deficits-are-teaching-the-young-nuggets-a-bitter-lesson-on-how-to-win/
When it comes on under the basket defense they would also prefer on having Howard than McGee.Im not saying he's not that good but the coach itself do knows best on who would be the one to take the role.

At least McGee do able to have some time to play in the court and maybe on next we would see it even longer.I agree that there are lots of great players on the roster and which make others wont able to get that
long game time.

So, how we can describe this game? Crowder and Dragic made only 1 of 13 from the three-point line, that's enough.  Cheesy
-
I thought that they're going to finish the series until the second half started. Such a bad game from Heat though, turnovers after turnovers, and they couldn't even manage to answer well back after Boston hits a shot, and on top of that, Bam doesn't look good  Sad. It was just Dragic taking some shots, which to be fair not bad as he was just trying to manage to answer back, however, they should be setting up some plays for Herro, that guy still has his touch. Anyway, still props to Celtics specially with Brown and Tatum.
They've been on Dragic this time and i agree that they should consider Herro to set him up.There are indeed lots of turnovers but for sure they would really compensate on what they've been lacking
on next game and as everybody said, adjustments would be made.
