Knicks have sucked for 2 decades.  Allan houston era was the last good one with all the miami rivalry games.  Knicks had one decent season with melo and even then they were never in position to go far in the playoffs, they need to stack draft assets and hope one of these draft picks hit
They are not doing any of the things you guys think they are doing. They are just sucking because they suck, management sucks, the front office sucks, hell the coaching sucks right now as well and anyone who plays at Knicks doesn't see it as something serious but only a thing where they can play and get money, they are literally entertainers at this point and not basketball players because they can finish the seasons 10-72 and the management will still make a ton of money.

It is New York, everything is expensive, and Dolan also owns the stadium, so dude will charge whatever he wants for the tickets AND for the food, drinks etc so they are literally profiting from it. By comparison, Spurs lost money in 2009 for example when they made it to playoffs, New York Knicks made profit last year and all of those past 20 years.

Basically, it became something like "no matter what we do, we will profit anyway, so why Boter caring about getting better" for the Owner and the management.

The lost to the game by 8 points 127-119.
8 points?? Isn't it the number of Kobe when he first played? A coincidence Cheesy Weird happenings right now Cheesy.

I was thinking the same. I guess the NBA doesn't want to forget his legacy and will forever engrave his name in the league.

That's 8 coming from a lose and Kobe is about winning, they should have at least tried everything to win as a tribute for Kobe, a lose doesn't look good IMO.

LeBron speaks from the heart to honor crash victims | Remembering Kobe
I almost cried a bit while watching the video of his speech. I know how Kobe played when he is at his prime and he touched many people's hearts even he is still playing and after his retirement. He visited in our country (PH) many times already so many are feeling sad right now with this tragedy.

He inspired a lot of people from around the world, including us (Filipinos). I'm not a big fan of Kobe, but I admire him as the greatest player of the 2000 era. Remember how we replicate Kobe's signature fade away jumper while throwing a crumpled paper in the trash can?
That's how he influenced the game of basketball.

I was expecting that the Lakers would win as that would be a good tribute to Kobe Bryant but they didn't do well against the visiting team.
But anyway, I was really emotional during the opening of the game, it was a night full of tears and "remembering kobe" has really touched the heart of the fans.

Indeed, it was a touching and emotional tribute to Kobe Bryant.

However, Damian Lillard took over the ball game and drops 48 points. He has been average 40++ ppg in his last 4 games. He had his first triple double couple of night ago, had almost another triple double in this game as well. I'm sure Lakers will be back and try to win games despite the pain and devastation that they (us) feel.

Two big upsets happened in the games. Denver and Portland both win against their opponent.

On the Blazers vs Lakers game, Melo didn't play, that's why they are very consistent in the floor as most of the attempts are successful, just like Whiteside which was 13-14 and had 5 blocks. Also, Ariza is very effective despite not shooting well that only shoots 20% but he has 5 steals which signifies how effective he is in defense.

It's emotional to see those tribute for the man who been love by the basketball fan around the world, provably lebron got beaten by his emotion that's why he's been short for his scoring and the others produce less but impressive game brought up by davis today by scoring 37 points. Maybe they will comeback in next game when their phase stabilize.

I've been away few days from thread, couldn't watch any games either after that tragic accident. Browsing through last few pages i don't think anyone mentioned All Star reserve list has been confirmed:

Eastern Conference
Domantas Sabonis, Jayson Tatum, Bam Adebayo,Jimmy Butler, Khris Middleton,  Kyle Lowry and Ben Simmons

Westen Conference
Brandon Ingram, Russell Westbrook, Nikola Jokic, Damian Lillard, Rudy Gobert, Chris Paul and Donovan Mitchell

I am kinda surprised that Paul George wasn't invited, since he was there for the last 4 years. Maybe missing those games at the beginning of the season was what decided. From what i can read, people are surprised that Bradley  Beal wasn't invited either, despite him averaging 28.7 pts per game (6th in he league at the moment), but i guess that was overlooked due Wizards being crap.
Wizards are good example how everything can change fast. Few years ago they were very promising team, and now i don't see a way out for them in the next few seasons.

In the other news, Zion continues kicking ass. In beating Memphis 139:111 he made career high 24 pts. So far in those first 5 games he is averaging 19.2 pts and 7.8 rebounds on 25 minutes. Imagine if Davis stayed in Pelicans..

If the Lakers will win the championship this year, It will be the most emotional NBA finals ever in the league.

Bro, I am thinking the same.

Watching this game, I also thought of this myself. If Lakers win this season I would be so emotional, this whole season would be really a tribute to this legendary player. Though I still support my team, Milwaukee Bucks.

Yes, that will be the perfect "ending" for this season after what the Laker nation had to endure with the passing of Kobe and Gigi Bryant.

Emotional game today as the Lakers are back on court against Portland Trail Blazers. -12.5 Lakers spread seems a bit higher handicap since the Blazers are becoming a better team now. Let's see if LeBron will unleash his beast to honor the late Kobe Bryant tonight.

Reports said that the grieving Lakers brought them closer together as a team. If the Lakers will win the championship this year, It will be the most emotional NBA finals ever in the league.

Chances that they've matured enough not to focused with Giannis alone will help them to have a better chances to win the eastern finals.
With how they are playing right now and how they move the ball it's good to see a well balanced rotations, even Giannis is their main offensive
weapon but the supporting cast are also bringing the challenge and contributes.

We can see the improvement even at the start of the season. And I think this will be the play of the Bucks until Antetekoumpo retires since the co-owner of Bucks wanted him for the rest of his entire career. Well, with that kind of player, who would not want to take care of that.

Knicks is also a quite good team, so it's a matter of choice for the players.
I disagree with this, if Knicks are a good team then we should not be discussing them being under-performing in the last 2 decades.
Every season they are not a surprise, they were only good for awhile when KP was healthy but when he got injured, they start tanking again.

The stats are more important in a healthy debate like this, there record for this season alone tells that they are not a good team.

And now they havent hit a decent draft pick in awhile except for the unicorn which blew out his acl and we traded him for bench players and some draft picks.  Its management not money
You confuse me for awhile bro about the "unicorn", then I typed "unicorn knicks" in google and found out it was KP who are already playing with the Mavericks now. I agree it's definitely not about the money, otherwise Knicks would have been sold out already to a new owner.

First, then draft KP, the fans didn't like it, they even booed KP when they pick them.

But fans fall in love with the guy because he really did good for the team. And what did the Knicks did? traded him, lol. So it reflects how their upper management is doing. Their decision making is very bad that New York fans are still hoping that the team can bring back its old glory days.

Money is just a one side thing so I really don't think any team could have any problem of that.
Like I said, they all have the resources or the money to sign and give a player a good salary (of course based on salary capped) that would bring their team to the playoffs at least, but they haven't find that good player yet for many seasons already.
Example: if you are a good player with a talent, and do have a choice on what team you could go with? Knicks offer you a good money, then there are also openings to other teams which you might also like... who would you choose? Not all the time Good players passes by on some teams, even with a good resources how can they make use of them if a player doesn't want to go with them.
And for me, atleast, they have good players, the thing is they just don't have a sufficient force to battle against the other MVPs or Aces of the other teams.
Well, yeah they are lacking, but I don't thinkin they're also slacking... Knicks is also a quite good team, so it's a matter of choice for the players.
Besides all of the NBA Players are already considered as Stars. (AFAIK)
Then how can we distinguish the best among the stars in the NBA? For me Stars are called the best players in the NBA, that is why there is an NBA all star which we will be able to witness soon in just a few weeks.
You can always distiguish them with the line ups/scores and how they play. For me, ALL STARS are for the best players among the team, and what I meant for Stars is once you have been chosen or one of the team then you're already good for the fame.

I think it's not just about about money,
When you talk about money, the NY Knicks have the money as they are in NY where businesses are booming and attracting fans to watch the game would not be hard.

we have known before that even in sports there are some common issues that can't be explain thouroughly on public, we really can't blame them if they'd just waited after 2 decades.

No team would wait for 2 decades to remain as shitty team, it looks like all their effort are wasted since nothing happens to the team despite of the effort that they are trying to make Knicks a great team again.
Well, as I said, there might be some issues that can't be explained through the public, we might not have the idea why they suck on this past years but certainly the possibilities are high of having them criticize after the games they intend to bring to the public.

Money is just a one side thing so I really don't think any team could have any problem of that. Besides all of the NBA Players are already considered as Stars. (AFAIK)

It's actually real simple, at the start of this nonsense the Knicks handed out all their draft picks for bums like eddy curry, Isiah thomas ran down the future for some years.  And now they havent hit a decent draft pick in awhile except for the unicorn which blew out his acl and we traded him for bench players and some draft picks.  Its management not money
