I have convinced myself that the NBA regular season and post season are CANCELLED. due to the rising number of infected people in the USA.

Just want to clarify something, what do you guys thinking? The whole NBA season will be just postponed or cancelled already? If the latter one hapoens, then who is gonna be the proclaimed champion? I am curious about this issue because recently I saw a post on FB (one of sport related pages out there) that if NBA failed to continue the season then they will go with the point system something like that thus Lakers will be the overall champion. Is it a rule? How true this is? Huh

I think it's too early to say that there is no chance to finish the season. In my opinion, there is still a chance that it will succeed.
However, if the coronavirus infection situation is getting worse, I'm afraid the only solution will be to cancel the results of the entire season.
You can't declare a champion if all games have not taken place, it would be unfair.

Not sure but I don't think there is  a rule like that, most likely the season will be cancelled and all the effort of the teams who are in the playoff spot will just be wasted, they will focus on the next start and will start all over again. That's my opinion only.

NBA season being cancelled and no champion being crowned looks to be an increasing possibility. I mean USA is getting worse and worse everyday for now, they are nowhere near the peak, even Italy is barely at the peak right now, they are very close or maybe already there but it will probably take another week of being like this for Italy at least to eventually start seeing a drop.

Moreover that is Italy, the nation with the worst situation, USA is still just at the start and even though there are medicines that are more helpful discovered, we are still going to see USA go worse and worse before we start to see it improve. It means at least May will be the "getting better" part and probably July or so will be when this is all over, I doubt NBA can come back that late.

https://google.com/covid19-map/?hl=en

This will take several months to clear everything and I believe they won't resume until the government declare that the USA is covid free. This might slow down a bit this month, but it would really take at least 2 months to clear everything.

Thanks for the update.
Yesterday me and my friends in the neighborhood are talking about this and we only know 100k was confirmed.
I didn't thought it was that high.
337,278 confirmed. If this goes up in the next month then it will really be a big lockdown for this country.

Yeah, we might not see a champion this year. I don't know how they are going to deal with this since Adam Silver really want to announce a champion. He cannot force it anymore.

Dwyane Wade Tweets 'I Know Someone' in Regards to Bulls' Rumored Exec. Search

Quote
The Chicago Bulls are searching for a front-office executive to hold total authority on basketball decisions, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Woj reported that two general managers (the Denver Nuggets' Arturas Karnisovas and the Toronto Raptors' Bobby Webster) are two candidates, but a certain NBA legend and Chicago native might be throwing his hat in the ring:

Wade throwing himself to this position, interesting.  Grin

What do you think Wade can do to improve the Bulls with him? can he at least put the bulls back to the playoff picture again?
But he did clarify it was not him.

Quote
Wade late clarified that he wasn't referring to himself:

DWade
@DwyaneWade
No No Not Me. I really know someone haha https://t.co/BTJnoaeOuG

So who the hell is he trying to suggest for the Bulls executive position.
I have no names ringing a bell. Grin
It can't be Jordan of course and so does Pippen.

Wade also have a job already for TNT. So he must be messing around or he is really thinking of someone else to fill the exec spot.
Didn't even give any clue.

The position is critical. Total authority on the Bulls basketball activity.

Dwayne Wade is former Bull so somehow he knows the environment there. However, even putting lots of big names on the coaching staff or in the organization, without them pursuing a good role player, there will be no changes at the Bulls. Even a prime of Phil Jackson holding the current lineup of the Chicago Bulls today, they have no chance at playoffs.

A good coach is nothing without good role players executing the plays.

Woah, you really have said it just yesterday. That's very much the solution as they have been into expenses as well but without coming in for the cash flow. NBA players have made that much and it's ok for them because everyone is in bad situation.

What if someone didn't agree of what they are asking?

Well, that will be their problem since they are all in contract.
But here is the thing. They are all in NBA contract and if it is the management who will change something then it can happen.

I don't know about the law though. Perhaps they will also need the help of the players association so that players could sign an agreement.
A lot of money will be at stake here. They don't want their own employer which is NBA to go bankrupt or else they will lose their own jobs as a basketball player.
They can make certain changes to the contract if they want to or don't need any of it but only the approval of the players.

It is actually the problem. The approval.
All of us want to save ourselves from getting bankrupt specially at this kind of time.
We are spending more without any money getting in.
Some NBA players might feel that kind of emotion now. Those who aren't even in millions per contract, they will need the money too.
This is not something that will cut salaries for not just millions of dollars contracts like Curry and Lebron.
Everyone will be affected by it. They will need to consider that.

hey! hey! hey!, what are you guys are talking? you should read the entire article so you'll not be fooled.... people this is an April fools article.

This is the link right?
now way the Lakers will be champ,.. the season will be cancelled means season will end and no winner.

here's some screenshot for you from the article.

Lol! They believe on fake news how could the lakers win for that situation? for sure the other team will file a protest since its unfair decision to be made if they implement it and good thing there is a clarification regarding to that post so that it couldn't mislead for those people who didn't know the situation these days.
LOL! Should've clicked my link for the original post.
Someone quoted me and cut it.
Here. I put in bold. Look at the end. When did someone tell you Happy March or Happy May?

Holy crap!

https://clutchpoints.com/nba-bylaw-states-champion-will-be-crowned-via-best-record-if-season-is-cancelled/

I didn't even have the slightest thought that there is such a rule.
But the image looks wrong which is the Lakers holding the trophy.
It will be the Bucks.  Grin

Quote
To be clear, the rule states that the team that will be crowned as champions will be the team with the best record for the current calendar year. The Milwaukee Bucks may lead the NBA with a 53-12 record on the season, but it is actually the Lakers who have the best record since January. Milwaukee currently holds a 24-7 record in 2020, while L.A. stands at 24-6. This would mean that the Lakers will be crowned as the 2019-20 champions, handing LeBron his fourth NBA title in his career.
Happy April!
Obviously it was an April Fools Joke since it was April 1.
Who would bump at that kind of date? It is already April 5 guys.
Then someone tries to be a hero.
Oh and then someone merited the hero.

Haha, I guess it is a success of fooling you guys.
But c'mon its way too far to be fooled now.  Grin
You made me laugh, but I hope next time do it on April 1.  Grin

That is not a fake news as the author of the article put a message in the end that it's april fools.
Well, for some who are not reading the whole information, they might come with the conclusion that Lakers did really win, but April fools is for everyone.

That's why its fake because it's created intended for public annoyance, It scattered everywhere and many people actually believe that it was true since I saw in social media sites that there are people congratulating the lakers already  Cheesy.

Anyways lets hope the whole season will not be cancelled and the virus will be controlled by the authority since its really exciting to see bucks and lakers will face in finals.

If this is not some fake news, why I didn't get any further news other than this, I mean too early to this kind theis strange rule to crowned who will become the Champion team this season. this is now how it should be, let's just wait for another months because we wouldn't know what would be the outcome of this pandemic after a month. let's just hope that'll disappear and we can continue watching the real game in the court.

I have never heard of the rule before as well, that looks like a rule that might have never been used before, I don't know if in the history of NBA season has ever ended before 1st of April, even during wars and such they continued so I doubt it has ever happened. However considering this is decades old rule, they could simply change it whenever they want as well, just because there is a rule saying something like that doesn't mean they have to follow it.

Adam Silver could come out tomorrow and say that they no longer have a rule like that and league will be cancelled and no championship will be rewarded to anyone and everyone would be forced to accept honestly. Plus, I doubt any team would want to win a championship like that, it would be basically humiliating to have a ring this way.

They are still making ways to play some ball.
Yeah, it will be fun. As long as they are far away from each other.  Cheesy

I guess we have something to see soon, this would entertain the fun but not making money for them. So with this, since they are not thinking of the season anymore, I think we can assume that they are really stopping the season, waiting for the announcement now
