The slam dunk contest was so boring and unimaginative.  There aren't many dunks we haven't seen before and we didn't have any good participants this year.

True that. It was pretty awful, I'm sick and tired of players who need 10 tries to pull off a dunk. huh

Next year, the All-Star break will be in Chicago, so maybe we get to see Zach Lavine again? Zion v Lavine - that should be a good showdown. At least it can't get any worse, we hit rock bottom last night. lol

So excited to watch the NBA allstar game. Hoping to see another competetive match between these two teams, just like the game from the last allstar game.
Lebron picks is like building a team pre-chemistry for the next season, its like half of these big names in the free agency will go to LA next year lol.
Team Lebron will still most likely gonna win this game.

It's just an exhibition game and lack of defense but Lebron is still very competitive, I have a feeling that he will win the All star MVP if their team win.

Im also rooting for team Lebron, his lineup is stacked with the best players in the league, both offensively and defensively.
Lack of defense wasnt a case during the allstar game from 90's to 2000's they were like competing for the trophy when they played back then, unlike today where the playets is just trying to show off to entertain the fans. But looking at the 2018 NBA allstar is a bit satisfying as they really are competing for the W down the stretch, they're a little physical and its good to say defense like those in an allstar game.

Skills challenge was actually the only fun thing this night, it was actually fun to watch these kids play it out and try to win, they did shots from half court and even tough trae missed his half court shot (I think was against doncic?) he made it to finals but he lost to a half court shot in return Cheesy lol. That showed me these kids wanted to win for sure. Also it was super fun to watch Jokic play there as well, I knew he was just smart player and his lack of athleticism would limit his chances but dude was straight up talented for a big man and showed it there as well. I was hoping Doncic to win tbf, he didn't get to all-star game (which he deserved) so I hoped he at least won the skills challenge. I never really liked three point contest anyway but dunk contest was bad as well, the only good dunk was the dunk over Shaq and all other dunks were really mediocre.

Ergh! The slam dunk contest was not that really awesome. It was though because the veterans are being used to be dunked on.  Grin

For my point of view, it is the most entertaining and more fun to watch during the all-star game. I can wait to see it for the whole game and these dunks..man.. are amazing! In the past, there were more exciting dunks i think but there are many talents that can rise via this contest and get some lights on them that will help them rise in the future.

Of course its one of the most exciting and anticipated show in every all star game. However, this year contest was somewhat 'dry' because its just the usual 'jump over someone popular' thingy. Not my type of slam-dunk competition to be honest. Anyways, we still have the game that everyone is anticipating for tomorrow so I hope it will live up to its hype.

I also expecting something different this year. But I would agree that it was tough to see legends and veterans being dunked on.

The Skills challenge is a little fun. Although with the slow movement of Jason Tatum he made something miraculous to get that three point way far using the glass.

That three point makes the difference, it was fun to see him throwing and hitting it.

But the most awesome of all that made me WOW. It was the three point shoot out. Damn Steph Curry made perfection in three racks for the first round and then almost getting a tie for the championship just missed that one money ball.
It was a fun day at Charlotte again. Now next is Team Gianis and Team Lebron. Let us see if it will be more fun than the last one. I want some contested shots and not just like kids playing in the park.

But Curry still lost,  Grin. All eyes are now on Team Giannis vs Team Lebron. I'm sure if will be a fun and enjoyable game until the last 3-5 minutes wherein the game is and the and bragging rights is on the line.

I seriously hate this weekend. Every single thing about this weekend is just cheesy and horrible.

Look at the celebrity game, they are making it a show now, people used to actually try to show that they could play as well but now they are not even trying to pick proper people for it. Look at the rising star game, I understand it is just a show and it was at the last seconds of the game but a player PASSING to other team so they can dunk is not something acceptable in any other game, do you think people with MJ or Kobe mindset would let the game go and help other teams member to get a good dunk ? No way.

Dunk and three point will be the same, they will just do half assed stuff that is not remotely good as the old days. All star game hopefully will be a bit better than previous years because last year with the team captains it was a bit better, before that it was just purely mockery of what we call basketball. I rather watch a Hawks VS Suns game then this weekend, it is that much horrible.

I guess we are getting older and we slowly loss our appreciation on slam dunk contest, back when I was below 20 slam dunk  was one of my favorite during all star season, but now that I also learn to gamble, I don't appreciate it a lot anymore.

The Skills challenge is a little fun. Although with the slow movement of Jason Tatum he made something miraculous to get that three point way far using the glass.

~snip~

That was fun,  Jason Tatum is not dominating in terms of running the ball but his consistency in 3 point shooting saves him.
One of the announcer's said that it it was Tatum's spot in the center, but that half court shot was pretty amazing, Young was outsmarted by Tatum.

Skills Challenge:
     Luka Doncic, Mavericks         -     4.84x
     De'Aaron Fox, Kings        -       4.26x

3-Point Contest:
     Stephen Curry, Warriors        -    2.06x
      Buddy Hield, Kings                    -    6.25x

and the Slam Dunk Challenge:
    Miles Bridges, Hornets                -    3.22
Dennis Smith Jr., Knicks        -      2.44x

I believe you haven't won any of your selection today, it was a tough day for gamblers, high odds player got the win.
Curry was amazing in the first round of 3 point shooting, I thought he would bring the trophy again but shooters now are improving, we have a new champ.
I think they should add Thompson in the all star, I trust him over curry in terms of accuracy.
Nah, I didnt bet on any thing. I had just pointed out who the favs to win were and the 2nd favs. Just wanted to point it out for fellow cappers about the lines and what I feel about it. You would have understood that if you had read my post properly. Tongue

Looks like favorites are not winning in the last 2 competition.
3 point shooting contest is won by Joe Harris with +650 betting odds, it's a good payout, unfortunately, I put my trust to my man curry.
Who won betting on Joe Harris here? Congrats to you . Grin Grin
I would have bet on Curry but 2x didnt seem worth it, especially with 10 people participating in the 3 Pt Contest. In the dunk contest, Highlight was the dunk over Shaq. I knew nothing could top that and I think he played it a little too early. After that, none of the dunks would have impressed me. unless somebody dunked over Shaq who had Muggsy Bogues sitting on his shoulder or something. Slightly underwhelming dunk contest, as usual other than a couple of dunks. Congrats to Hamidou Diallo.

So much trust and luck for whoever bet for harris, the competitions was so tough, booker, green and curry are there so I guess the money
will flow between the three and coming from behind harris came up and surprise those favorites, congrats to him for adding new fun for this
surprising win against the big names inside the three point shootout.
Indeed, which i didnt even think that Harris would pull off this one and with Curry alone you can already presume the chance of 80% on winning that
3point shooting contest as well know on what this man built for. +650 odds is some nasty win and would glad to see if theres someone who do make
such bet and speak on what's his insights on why he chose up harris.

Jayson Tatum, Celtics

What's the odds for him?

He just won the skills challenge with that half court shot.
Im not sure but it must have been close to 8x. My pick almost won. Oh that was sooo close for Trae Young. Who would have thought Tatum would shoot from half court and then displace Young's shot in flight and to swish after that. That was crazy. 3-Pt shooting so far has been insaaaaane as well. By far the most entertaining All Star Saturday in the past 5 years.

Edit: Curry put up a clinic in the first round and amazing start shooting 9 out of 9 to start the final round. Somehow it went south after that until the later end of the 4th rack. Needed 5 out of 5 to tie with the first time 3 point shooting Challenger and the New Champ Joe Harris.

Skills challenge winner
Jayson tatum

I dont believe to wager on Nba weekend , prefer to watch and enjoy it without betting.
its fucking hard to watch players laughing when you lose money.
If Players dont take competition serious, why should i ?
After couple of record breaking years in Allstar game , they decide to defend Last year and it became low scoring game .
About 3 point contest its about refs , remember what they did 3 years ago "Gordon Vs LaVine" .

Tonight is the ALL STAR SATURDAY NIGHT, which will consist of 1)Skills Challenge    2) 3-Point Contest        3) Dunk Contest(underwhelming for the past couple of years)

Who do you think will win? I like Trae Young for the Skills Challenge as he seems to be the the small quick guard with good hands. De'Aaron fox is fav. as he is self proclaimed the quickest player in the NBA. For the 3-Pt Contest, I'd say Step Curry but I wouldnt gamble on it for 2x odds. Dennis Smith Jr. seems good value for the Dunk Contest.

Skills Challenge:

     Mike Conley, Grizzlies
     Luka Doncic, Mavericks         -     4.84x
     De'Aaron Fox, Kings        -       4.26x
     Nikola Jokic, Nuggets
     Kyle Kuzma, Lakers
     Jayson Tatum, Celtics
     Nikola Vucevic, Magic
     Trae Young, Hawks

3-Point Contest:

     Devin Booker, Suns
     Seth Curry, Trail Blazers
     Stephen Curry, Warriors        -    2.06x
     Danny Green, Raptors
     Joe Harris, Nets
     Buddy Hield, Kings                    -    6.25x
     Damian Lillard, Trail Blazers
     Khris Middleton, Bucks
     Dirk Nowitzki, Mavericks
     Kemba Walker, Hornets

and the Slam Dunk Challenge:

     Miles Bridges, Hornets                -    3.22x
     John Collins, Hawks
     Hamidou Diallo, Thunder
Dennis Smith Jr., Knicks        -      2.44x
