Now I believe a team doesnt really need star. Again, Denver is proving it. Jokic was not really their star from that statt but due to good coaching all of them is known now.
A strong team which did not even made the playoffs last year is not at the second spot in the West.
Will be watching all these players now.
You don't even need a star player to win games all you need is team work and all players doing their part to contribute. But its a different thing when it comes to playoffs especially in the championship a team's success to win the trophy depends on how hungry their players are and nothing is more hungrier and motivated then a star player wanting to be his name on top of the hall of fame, that's why a lot of teams showing good teamwork isn't sufficient enough for them to defeat this kinds of teams that has all stars.

The last team to win a NBA championship without a real superstar was the 2004 Detroit Pistons.  So yes, it is very rare to win without one of those big name players on your team.  Its not impossible but very unlikely to happen.  Its why teams are willing to spend 30 million per year on just one player.

Indeed, but now every team in the NBA has a star player in the roster. At least those who compete to get the championship title. Well, except from Golden State Warriors who have all the NBA stars all together in one squad. This is what makes the difference in the team for so many consecutive years.

A superstar is needed because he is the leader of the team and can completely change how they are playing. First of all a superstar is motivating the team, just like LeBron on the Lakers(this situation is different because their team is not a playoff team, but a lot of players have been playing a lot better with LeBron on the floor), and then it lead the team to the victory by scoring points, offering passes and creating the strategy.

Correct, we still need someone to carry the team and in the case of Denver, Jokic is carrying much of the load. So it will be different when it comes to playoff, there's a lot of expectations from them specially they are the number 2 seed currently.

Will they choke come playoff time since most of them are very young and un-experience? Or will they rise to the occasion and prove that them being the number 2 seed in not a fluke? I guess we will need to find it out.
Playoffs would be different even if they are number 2.For Jokic we can really say that he do have an important role, if we do look at on their last game against mavericks he's top on rebounding and
assist and for the points Millsap handles it.I do love their teamwork yet all of them do focus on their role even theres no superstars they can really catch up and they wont reach their standing if they arent capable.
Obviously they are really capable and with the second spot in a tough western division, that says about the team whether Jokic could be their leader or not. As you have mentioned Millsap is already performing very well and the rest of the team are contributing to the cause. And when the they are in the playoff, they are going to proved that they are not a hype team.

You're right, teamwork is the key to winning. But having a superstar in a team would be a different story, because opponents will have a hard time to stop someone other than the whole team. That's why, a superstar is a good decoy for the defense to collapse. In Denver's side, I would say they cannot maintain their momentum because of their lack on experience otherwise they would bloom during that time.

I'm so excited to read in the official NBA standing that an "e" will be put before the name Lakers! lol I've said it at the early stage of this season that Lebron will not be going to the playoffs and I guess it right! Byebye Lecry...

Haters spotted. LOL.

Lebron does not make the playoff so no more sweep for him, he will once again avoid to be embarrass by the warriors.
Who knows Lakers might improve in the next season?

So far it was only Lebron which is the greatest rival of the warriors although they swept his team, so I can say they'll have an easy journey for 3-peat this season. Rockets, not gonna stand long against them, another classic western match up might be seen but we know who will win.

Lol, @ivan376 is always been a Lebron hater, you can see his post around this thread. But it's all good, we in this community welcome everyones opinion. The Rockets will still poised a treat, they almost swept GSW this season right? so they still have the numbers. But I guess they've been there, they know what to do when they enter the playoffs, and when Durant is back I'm sure they will be as strong  or even stronger last year with the addition of Cousins in the middle.

76ers roaster looks almost great, especially after adding Tobias Harris to it but the problem is that players don't have a good chemistry right now meaning they didn't played enough time together to be able to compete against teams who already have a team that's been together for months or even years.
Things will improve, the management knows what they are doing, they already secure a playoff spot so their decision should for the upcoming playoffs.

Last playoffs they play with the Celtics and unfortunately they loss, with Harris addition, they'll make sure they will have it this time.
Embiid needs someone to rely also as he can't do it all, they have a big three now and I hope they will improve during playoffs.

I agree and most of the time this so called team chemistry really shows when they're in the playoffs. Players games are going up and so as the chemistry of the team. Harris is really a good addition to the team, at least they have other options now as compare to the last season wherein Joel plays a big part and if teams have a good defensive center, he had a hard time scoring/rebounding. So I'm still seeing some improvements along the way specially when playoff comes.

You forgot to mention the 76ers. They are also a stacked team just like golden state and there could be chances in which they will reach the finals and might even destroy gs.

Well, yeah but I would still pick this teams over 76ers. I know the Tobias Harris acquisition makes the team more stronger, but I dont really trust them in the plaoffs. I might root for them next year if their roster is still intact. I dont know, I could be wrong with my presumption.

Bucks
Raptors
Celtics

Thats my top 3 teams in the East in particular order. The Bucks may have less playoff experience, but Giannis and the team were on different level this year. The Raptors were completely a different team today, unlike the Raps who from the last 4 years who cant get past the Celts and Cavs. Celtics as well may redeem the NBA finals trip that they could possibly get if the team was healthy. To sum it up East Conference becomes interesting.

Celtics will never be the playoff Celtics we saw last season. The return of Gordon Hayward and Kyrie made the team chemistry look bad. Look ar what happened last year. There were no all stars but the team is pretty good. Right now, less minute for Jayson Tatum, Terry Rozier. Unlike last year, they are an all out. And also a star in the making.

I totally agree, I know how they performed without the superstars and how they performed with their superstars back in the roster this season. But, I'd still give them chance this year to prove that a healthy Celts are a powerhouse in the east.

I've watched the Celtics almost all season and they are a totally different team from last year. They have started the season pretty good but after that something happend to them and every game was a struggle for them. They had a few streaks blowing everyone at home but other than that in every game they struggled with offensive. They gone a full quarter with 50-60% shot percentage and the next quarter with 30-35%. And this happened lots of times this season.
Seriously, this team is really changed a lot after this year, they've been so unpredictable with both offense and defense gameplay, they've need to workout with some new good plays and execute team games, without this chances for Eastern finals might be slim.

An entertainig game from the Dallas Mavericks and Denver Nuggets.
Jokic and Doncic. Just wow.
My heart almost fell just watching the last minutes of the fourth quarter.

The dunk from Doncic thats gave them the lead with a foul. And then, something that will be talked about in the next years to come happened.
Jokic, he did not even make any points for 3 quarters and then he just made the last shot to give them the win.
What a nice game. Love watching those clutch games. So exciting.

I still believe that Bucks will do something different and they will prove themselves that they are learning and at the same time improving.

Bucks are my team to get out of the East this year. Currently ranked 1st in defensive efficiency and 3rd on offensive efficiency, that's a killer combo.

They have some very impressive road wins too and only once have lost back-to-back games (last week I think). Their roster is very well-constructed, surrounding Giannis with shooters which gives him all the space he needs to attack the rim. Fear the deer!  Wink
Wishing him and Bucks the best of them and I just want them to be consistent like what they have shown along their way to the playoffs. I'm been seeing the guy since last few seasons, he really has something.

I'm still fan of the king and other remarkable players but I guess this is going to be the new era of new great players. Waiting for this seasons championship and I guess we're going to see some unexpected team with the last fights.
It wont really be the same as before and im pretty sure with that thing. We cant say we would see a new era but we are seeing teams which we didnt expect
to overboard in our expectations. There are lots of things do happen on this season.Im not a fan of Bucks but when you see the gameplays which is entirely different.Im
anticipating different teams to be on the finals.
