LeBron James will re-sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers on a three-year, $100 million maximum contract, league sources said, and the three-time NBA champion also pressured the Cavs to finalize a deal to keep free agent J.R. Smith.

That's more than $33 million a year, fellas. Does that make him the highest paid player now? If so, he richly deserves it and more.

Also LeBron James is pressuring the Cleveland Cavaliers front office to get J.R. paid and signed. Same thing like Thompson. J.R. Smith's agent is LeBron James. I mean, at this point you can't really argue with anyone about it since he just won the title for Cleveland, in like 52 years.

He can do whatever he likes and his demand should be given by the management as he is in the position now to do that. Lebron feels he is the best player in the world, and we have witness in the past that because of him blatt was fired, so he is a special guy for the cavaliers.
JR Smith situation can go one of two ways. He can either use the chip as motivation to carry on playing well, which basically just means putting effort into defense. Or he can let the chip get to his head and go back to his chemistry killing days. I've known and seen headcases like JR all the time, and I see the latter happening.
I believe JR will stay in the cleveland cavaliers because lebron will get what he wants, he is the superstar of the team and he make history with his team now, so I think the pressure is on the cavaliers management how to handle the demand of lebron james.

JR Smith is demanding a higher salary. There is also a rumor that the other teams are offering him what he wants like the Lakers. We will see this coming days if he will return to the Cavaliers.

I dont think jr smith is worth the money he wants. He is lucky he gets to gravy train rings and play with the best in the world and a great point guard. I hope they release/trade him cause its not hard to find someone who will take a stack of money to play with lebron
and kyrie
also Mike Conley Jr. Is no where near Lebrons ability to impact a game yet he will be paid like he does so. Lebron should be getting over 50 million a season and most likely would be if the NBA had no cap like the MLB. If you think NBA contracts are ridiculous go look at what a-rod is making at 41 years old

In the NBA you need cap space to balance the team, to stop the teams to creat super super teams. If thats happen that would be boring to watch and bet. Because you already know whos gonna win.

When you are a champion team as much as possible you do not remove a good line up because that would affect the chemistry of the team considering that JR smith is one of the starters, it could be some major adjustment if he will transfer to the other team.

He deserve that pay, he had already proven that he can take his team to the finals and even with the finals. I think if the cavaliers can give more than that then the better so lebron will definitely not leave cleveland.

And not just Lebron James proved it, he able to surpass the hardest trial in the NBA finals. No team have won by down in a 3-1 in NBA finals. With his performance, his teammate also build some determination that's why all CAVS deserved this year NBA title.

Nice move by the management, unlike on the Miami Heat's situation.
Lebron's manager already knew that they will receive a bigger contract this year because they have won the championship and that has a big impact for the cleveland cavaliers, actually lebron could have demanded more if he wants because he really deserve to be paid like a king.
Unexpected. thought he was going to take another 2-for-1-and-done contract then ask for like a 5 year contract in 2017. Does anyone know if Lebron Max increases after two seasons? I'm trying to understand why 3 years and not 5. If it does then it makes cents.

Since returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers, LeBron James has been signing one-year contracts with the team (often with a player option for the second year).

This does two things. First, it keeps pressure on the Cavaliers to keep improving the team, knowing James can leave each summer.

However, it also earns LeBron a ton more money.

When LeBron re-joined the Cavaliers in 2014, the Cavs didn't yet own his Bird Rights, which means his year-over-year raises in a contract were 4.5% and he could only sign four-year contracts. After three years, the Cavs can re-gain his Bird Rights, allowing LeBron to sign a five-year deal with 7.5% raises each season.

Yes He's now the highest paid player in the NBA. He surpass Mike Conley contract worth of 150m for 5 years which Conley recently signed. But until now I cant move on on Conley contracts. He didn't deserve that kind of contract for now, because he never been in all star.
He is underpaid based on his value. Value being the performance he brings to a team, and the revenue his name bring to the NBA / team.
He should be payed more ually, he should probably be making something $600 million/3 years. Of course, because of the salary cap, we have guys like Lebron/KD/Curry/etc ended up massively underpaid, and scrubs and very mediocre talent (that don't really move the needle at all) making $17+ million a year.

NBA schedule for this upcoming season is out.
I'm more excited on Christmas Games. We can see the rematch of the last finals game and even the young Timberwolves have a game. Here are the games on Dec 25, 2016:
Celtics VS KNICKS
WARRIORS VS CAVS
BULLS VS SPURS
TIMBERWOLVES VS THUNDER
CLIPPERS VS LAKERS
That Christmas schedule is really something to look forward to. A lot of exciting matches would unfold on that cold night. Who's home court would the Warriors vs Cavs be played? That's going to generate a lot of buzz considering how GSW has made a lot of noise (with Durant's arrival) this offseason to reclaim what the Cavs took from them last Finals.
That game is most anticipated game this year. What will be the impact of Kevin Durant in Golden State basketball? Im sure they'll avenge their loss on last season's finals. Since the Cavaliers are still intact, what will be their improvements. The New York Knicks also will look for NBA title this year coz they have key players that can actually bring a big impact on their team. Im just very excited with these teams.
I will also be looking for the warriors vs cavaliers game in their first meeting this season, I am pretty sure the warriors will take this seriously as they want to avenge there loses in the finals, I hope they can make a statement though.

It's Cavaliers homecourt. It's going to be a tough match up, right now I really can't predict whose gonna win. We'll have just have to wait to rain some money on betting on this game.

Its very exciting and tough matchup for the team, lebron would gonna be worry by that time since GSW have durant and west now, and maybe they will do a sort of adjustment so they can compete and beat the super team in nba nowadays but let see whos gonna win and who's gonna cry leaving the court, all we can do is grab some popcorn, set and enjoy.
