Duncan could never have a farewell tour like Kobe because he was never box office
let's be real. dude will not sell out games across 50 states because he is retiring. No one knows him.

with all due respeck tho. props tim

Really?

He was a Greatest of All Time Level player from the start.

He could have mouthed off, made statements to the press, talked shit to his opponents.

His personality kept him low key.

I'd choose to be a top 6-7 player in the history of basketball and not have a shit show fan base behind me all day.

Duncan is the reciprocal of Kobe, a superstar that cared more about his team than own selfish needs, a superstar that did not crave attention or the need for it to be his team. He didn't even go out with one or two games left for the home crowd to show him the love he deserves for all the wonderful things he has done for the Spurs. Just quietly leaves in the same classy manner that he played.

he's the big difference for nothing he deserved everything respect and love duncan is just and a good example of the player who really love and care for the game and for his team he even lessen his salary cap for them to get good additional players he's one of a kind saying farewell would be also saying thanks for everything thank you for bringing simplicity to the game making you an athlete who always been a quite star. very appreciated TIM...

I think after her retirement he would get great appreciation in nba and spurs institution for his work ethics and dedication to play and share his knowledge about basketball to his fellow comrads, and thats why spurs didnt trade and hold him for a long time because they cannot afford to lose a great hall of fame player,

Duncan is great well indeed he is the one brought up some colors in nba im pretty sure duncan would get a title as legend player.

its official is it that Duncan is retired from basket sad i was hopping to see him one more season
who is good replacement for him
NBA just got half as interesting.

My favorite player ever. I'll never forget him spanking the Clippers a few years ago in the playoffs and putting on an absolute clinic doing what he did best for all those years

Duncan and Kobe's careers Put Bird and Magic's to shame.

I'm not talking stats, but career wise and longevity.

Larry Bird had back problems and Magic got Aids.
Can't really control the 2 and well maybe the aids but back probs nah.

Also 1 of these players you listed is not like the other.

Haha correct. Also facilities are better today including that of medical field bringing players to as healthy as possible. Even the injuries of Grant Hill and Penny Hardaway could've less impact if happen at this point in time.

Tim Duncan retires as all-time Spurs leader in:
· Points: 26,496
· Rebounds: 15,091
· Blocks: 3,020
· Games: 1,392

One of the greatest players I've ever seen play and hands down a candidate for the best leader the NBA has ever seen. Certified top ten player of all time! First Kobe and now Duncan Shocked Who's next in line?
He is also one of the greatest players that I have seen and you can have nothing but respect for that man and for what he has done for the sport and his club.
I do not know who is going to be next in line but I think we will seen it soon enough.

Draymond Green was arrested for assault on Sunday in East Lansing, Michigan

I think He kick someone in the nuts and I expect a LeBron Fan on ...

Dude is rich, why would he do an assault?

Anyway, my guess the next star that would probably retire is Dirk Nowitzki and i believe he will only play few more season. Just my guess.
yes possibly and i also checking if garnett will do the same or he already announce it as well but for dirk he already proven himself so no need for him to stay or in a positive side dirk is one of the big shooting man so it will stay in our memory a 7 feet players who played outside.

Probably the oldest guys in the league are Kevin garnett and rey allen. probably most years spent in the league too along with dirk nowitzki.Garnett at 1995,allen at 1996, and dirk at 1998. Each made legacies during there tenures.

So long for a great legend. TIM DUNCAN.

And Garnett came in to the league out of Highschool and he was one of the youngest players in his time. Garnett and Duncan are 2 big men that are strong competitors although Duncan is stronger than Garnett but both are hall of famers.

Duncan was the better player than Kobe
Duncan was the greatest teammate of all time.
Kobe was a terrible teammate.

Duncan was selfless taking below market contract for the benefit of his team.
Kobe refuses to take any paycuts and forces ownership to pay him in his twilight.

Everyone wants to play with Duncan
Nobody wants to play with Kobe

Duncan plays for one of the greatest coaches of all time for his entire career.
Kobe helps 4 coaches get fired in the last 4 years.

Duncan wins 5 rings and 1 bronze.

Why didn't Tim Duncan write a letter to basketball? Why no retirement tour? Why?

Duncan could never have a farewell tour like Kobe because he was never box office

Yeah Duncan is a Legend but it is true that he was never box office like Kobe even tho they have won the same amount of championships Kobe is better known then Duncan.
I think that he still deserves a farewell tour tho because you only respect that man.

Yes he will not get big party retirement like kobe but he can gain more respect since he have many good attributes and contribution for nba institution, duncan may belong to legends listed in nba history since he give spurs great leadership and he really show and selects what the best to hes team, unlike kobe he was known as the 1 man show.

Duncan would be bring the title the best Power Forward on his Era and deserved to be legend,

He dont need those luxurious farewell goodbye he is just simple old paps in nba.

Likely Manu and Parker but hoping for not as they still have those beast performance even at their age together with Timmy. They still have that Spurs power. Actually Duncan's retirement is different from Bryant's retirement in terms of the current power in their role. Duncan can still play and maintained his power in his territorial area which is the paint that will include points, rebounds and blocks. On other hand, we all know that Kobe isn't playing well know that's why it's good for him to hang his jersey now and live as one of the NBA legends.
I think Manu and Parker should also retire after this new season end to give the new players a room for popularity, we have seen how great leonard is playing together with LA and now they got gasol, I believe it is the new big 3.
coach pop known to be a good developer so that big three will rise up even parker and ginoble still there but you are correct if they
retire as early next year might have new rooms for another player to rise and be develop by coach pop.
This coming season they are more dangerous team than the warriors because of the acquisition of Pau Gasol, they will dominate the inside that should be their advantage as they are already good in defense.
