Michael Jordan sold the Charlotte Hornets for approximately $3 Billion. He bought it for $275 Million in 2010.
This was a news already a month or two ago but then that's official now if the boards have finally approved the sale of it. IIRC, it's not an entire sale and turnover because AFAIK MJ will still be left and have a small portion of it.
Anyway, this is one of the best investment that a person can ever have but it's on MJ. One of the GOAT and now turned into an entrepreneur and businessman, this is one of his greatest wins that none other NBA players haven't reached yet.
Yeah, and that what really separates the GOAT from the rest of the players, current or past, with maybe a few exceptions. He knows how to invest, maybe he has a good financial adviser or it is really in him to create more money not just him playing and his signature Jordan shoes and his deal with Nike.
And it I'm not mistaken, in this generation, many are following in his footsteps to be entrepreneur inside and outside of the NBA. It might not be a NBA team, but at least in some areas any other form of investments to create generational wealth. Instead of those players who just throw their money and once their career is over, they don't even have money left in their bank account.
There are lots of NBA players who know how to manage their finances. These players understand that they cannot play forever, so they find other ways to earn money using the money they get from the NBA. Michael Jordan is just so blessed that he had a lot of big endorsements during his era, and until now, he is still making a lot of money from his brand Jordan Shoes, which provides him with another significant source of income.
Look at how much he has made so far.
