PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns have one of the best lineups in the NBA.

That's not exactly breaking news with names such as Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal thrown in the mix, though other key players such as Tyus Jones and Jusuf Nurkic help round out a fairly stout starting five in Phoenix.

I don't know. I don't like a super offensive team because I still believe that defense can win games. Most of these players are isolation type of hoops and it can be predictable for a lot of times. There was a time I saw Phoenix having a hard time scoring while KD was locked in defense and that's going to be a problem against teams who have the best backcourt defensive players. i.e. Boston Celtics with Jrue and White.

Sure, on paper, this is a scary team that was managed to put together but they have no bench strength which can be a problem when injuries happen. Healthy, they will win a lot of games. Unhealthy, it could be chaos for them. The key here is Tyus Jones and his ballhandling and playmaking ability will be tested dearly in this team.

They can use their offense as defense if Jones will managed to run that good executions, like you said defense is still important as most of the time it can delays play and system to be executed,  though we haven't seen Phoenix yet they will tested when the regular season starts,  let see if how we'll their adjustments will be and how those superstars will be playing together to bring their first title..

We have seen from last season the 3 all stars playing together at least in some games, and we all know what happened, it's really a miss or hit. We should expect more on Bradley Beal, although he seems to be injury prone last season but hopefully he can be back in full capacity and really help the Suns to be on top.

The West is really tough division right now, with teams really improving, unlike before where Phoenix could be the number 1, although they fall in the playoffs or in the finals. I do agree that it will still depend on their point guard Tyus Jones. So let's see if he can make this 3 good with his ability to execute plays and run this background to the Tee.

I believe Jimmy does this for fun reasons, and the media day was the same day as Dikembe Mutombo died right? Or maybe a day later, not entirely sure but very close as we can see. So he didn't want to do something fun so close, and just opted to do a normal photoshoot, out of respect.

You wouldn't want to be goofing around when a star and a very important player for NBA history ends up dying so young, you can't be joking around, you need to be a bit more calmer during that time. He may not even feel like it, remember these kids grow up idolizing NBA players, and he may not be a centre, but jimmy definitely watched Dikembe growing up, so he could actually be very sad. I know I was, and cancer is taking too many people at young age these days, so I wasn't really feeling any happiness that day neither, even though I have absolutely no connection to Dikembe at all, the idea of a 57 year old spending 2 years battling cancer and losing was one that upset me for personal reasons, and fear, fear that what if it happens to me as well. So maybe that's the reason why he didn't do it.

I think it’s a lack of toughness that they’re going to struggle with. The only year they almost won a chip they had DeAndre Ayton playing with confidence and owning the lane. Ever since trading him they have looked like less of a team. I don’t think they won a championship with this roster unless they sign some free agent big man like Cousins or some other tough guy.

I do agree, in the beginning, it might be very obvious that the Celtics are the team to beat, specially when they acquire Holiday, he has a lot of experienced playing with the Bucks and they could have regret their decision to let go of him. And it is still the Celtics that are the outright favorite going into this season.
It might’ve just been a bad matchup for them in the Finals that they managed to dominate easily. Things could've been different if Jimmy Butler was healthy, as his team is known for upsetting the best in the East, though they seem to fall short in the NBA Finals.

Next season will be interesting, but staying healthy is crucial for them, otherwise, going back-to-back will be tough. Plus, the Nuggets have upgraded with Westbrook, and if they face each other in the Finals, I’d bet on Jokic; he’s more clutch compared to the Celtics.

I’ll never forget how smooth the Celtics' journey was to the Finals last season, facing a team missing its star players due to injury.

WHY OH WHY!!!!
Didn't he expected that many already put their bets on what will his hairstyle will be. I'm disappointed TBH that it wasn't that weird as it was 2-3 years ago IIRC. It's just straight up fixed hair for him, and I don't want it. Cheesy Maybe Pat Riley ordered him not to do it. Tongue

Or maybe he's sick of it, at least this year lol, and that he's become more matured and wanted to stay focused to win a ring.
Nothing wrong with that though, but being hilarious on media day doesn't affect his performance as well though.
The fact that people were getting used to his media day shenanigans, maybe he should have carry on with it. Bettors and bookmakers are loving it though lol.
Yeah, I do agree that Butler doesn't want to be on the front page of this social media because of what his hairstyle is. He should be focusing more on becoming a NBA champion rather that this one. It's one side to be hilarious, and it's different if you wanted to be treated with respect specially if you wanted to become and have a ring. He is not getting any younger and who knows, his prime could be when he reach the finals in the bubble. So it's good for him to become normal in the media day, but then when the season starts, it's a different Jimmy Butler and hopefully he will be 100% in this season with no major injuries that might sideline him again. He is still the alpha of the Heat and together with Bam and Herro they are still very formidable threat in the East.

But actually he's still creating a hype in media. Many people talk about his possible next hairstyle and there's betting towards his next hairstyle happened. I guess Butler already know that this option exist and maybe he troll the media and people who bet this then make everyone a loser.

Its really hilarious knowing that people really pays attention with Butler hairstyle while there are other exciting things happening in the league which is more good to follow. But hopefully we can see them became more serious this season since its always great to see heat reach to next level. I don't hear any much news regarding on their last actions made but let see if they remain a threat in East.

These hairstyles and media day don't really have an impact on his game. I just hope Jimmy Butler finishes this season healthy and injury free, unlike last season. It's just too bad because I think they had a chance against the Celtics. If I remember correctly, he was injured which is why the Celtics easily advanced to the next round.

Like Tyrese Haliburton said, the team that stays healthy until the end becomes the champion and I agree with that.

Yes, Butler missed a lot of games last season due to injuries including the entire first round of the playoffs due to a sprained MCL.
There's no question the Heat would have performed much better with a healthy Butler, but the Celtics were too good last playoffs. I mean, even if Butler had been healthy, the Heat still wouldn't have been able to beat the Celtics.

And we have to understand that Jimmy doesn't have the same arsenal when he went to Finals years ago, most of them have gone to other teams as well with good contract because of what they have shown during their stay on the Miami Heat.

I do agree, in the beginning, it might be very obvious that the Celtics are the team to beat, specially when they acquire Holiday, he has a lot of experienced playing with the Bucks and they could have regret their decision to let go of him. As for the hairstyle of Jimmy Butler, it's nothing special in this shooting day, it's just his normal hair and it's not comparable to his last 2 years wherein he really shock the photographers and the whole NBA community with his emo look.  Grin

Yeah, we really don't know that extend of why Jimmy Butler didn't put any hairstyle in the media day shooting. I'm speculating that he wanted to look normal but then his game will be different?

Or to look normal as there are rumors that he might opted to get out of the Heat before the end of the year? And so the plot thickens with Jimmy looking normal,  Grin. So not sure if someone won on the bet,

There’s no issue with his three-point shooting; it only becomes a problem if there’s a weakness inside and he still chooses to shoot from the outside. It's better for a team to have a threat both inside and outside. A great example of a big man is Jokic--he prioritizes scoring inside and makes his team better, and he has no problem shooting from the outside either. I’ve seen him hit plenty of game-winners beyond the arc. It’s really about managing his playing style, and I think Coach Thibs can transform him into a better player--a stronger version of himself.
Yes, it can, if he finds an approach to the player and sets the right priorities. It seems to me that the best option is when the coach identifies weaknesses and starts working with them to correct them. This is experience. It is a pity that not everyone understands this and does not work with the team as a whole in this way. That is why it turns out that you have to go through many defeats and losses, and this is fraught with negative consequences.

Rest in peace to Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo who has passed away at 58 years old due to brain cancer.

Dikembe was a favorite in the basketball world, famous for waving his finger at someone after blocking their shot. A sad day for the NBA.

That's sad news. Personally, I remember Mutombo's performances already at the end of his career, i.e. when he was in a Rockets uniform. He was far from his prime, but it's worth noting that even then his ability to defend in the paint and, of course, his block shots were impressive. RIP
p.s.
A lot of NBA legends have passed away in recent years.
First it's Bill Walton, then the great "Mr. Logo" Jerry West, and now the so-called "Mr. No-No" Mutumbo already followed them.

His finger waving trademark has been passed to the current players, and there are some who are doing it as well. Very sad news, but this is how cruel life is. Well, the good thing is that, he has been and will be remembered by the NBA because of how good he is when he's playing back when he's on the Hawks, and also on Rockeets as well. Speaking of Hawks and Rockets, I hope that both of these teams will commemorate him for the whole season just like what the league did to the late great Bill Russell where they put his jersey number 6 on every player's jersey.

Rest in Paradise to him, and I hope that he will be the last HOF player that will be going to paradise this year (at least).

As for the hairstyle of Jimmy Butler, it's nothing special in this shooting day, it's just his normal hair and it's not comparable to his last 2 years wherein he really shock the photographers and the whole NBA community with his emo look.  Grin

Legion Hoops posted this story about LeBron and Bronny. If you’re familiar with the meme that LeBron always knows what is going to happen ahead of time it is pretty funny.

“He grabbed a rebound, drove coast-to-coast through a couple of kids and layed it up. I looked over at his mom and said, 'He special.' She was like, 'What? He's 5 years old. What are you talking about?' I'm like, 'I've seen this before. I know.'”

I miss these hairstyles of Jimmy Butler.  Cheesy

Same.  He was becoming one of the best parts of NBA media day.  Not sure if this means he's more focused this year, tired of the stunt, or he's just getting older and maturing.  No matter the reason, still sad.  NBA Centel posted a funny image of him with a messed up shaved head and said that was from media day, but it was obviously fake.

A good media day.  The focus seemed to be on Klay Thompson and how he's going to fit in on a new team as well as reflecting on his time as a Warrior.

Sure he will contribute a lot say he's healthy for the entire season.

A big man that can shoot 3's.
There is no need to even doubt the player's performance. KAT is playing his games successfully. You have to look hard to find such a basketball player.
I am not doubting him.  Cheesy

He only needs to remain healthy.

Such people are not lying on the road. Yes, let everything work out wonderfully for him in terms of health. This is the most important component. I hope that I will see Anthony make three-pointers without any problems many times.
Well, he probably is training for his threes as well. But the kid needs to practice more with his shooting because it seems that it is not his strength.

RIP Dikembe Mutombo.

I was able to hear his name when I was so young watching NBA games and playing all of the oldies version of NBA zone in the playstation 1.

He's still young at 58 but this is what life is, we don't know when our this life will be taken back from above.

Wow this is really sad to hear. He was on of my all time favorite players ever. His iconic finger wag is really unmatched. He played during the heart of the 90s too when I think basketball was a lot more hard nosed and difficult to play in many aspects. He will certainly be missed. All those Bulls versus nuggets game I saw them play were truly legendary.
The ball play was harder during his time and he's been known with the game. He's truly a legend but gone too soon.

Such a sad news to wake up to. I didn't know he had tumor on his brain, turns out he had it for the past 2 years or so and he has been battling it as much as he can. Fighting cancer isn't a simple thing, I lost someone I love very much to cancer, and I can tell you the part where you fight isn't pretty neither.
I have no idea as well until the news popped about him and he passed away. I think that many of the legends will go through the same thing of not allowing the spotlight to cover them for their battle of illness that they go through.

This big C, we all hate it.

Dikembe Mutombo, one of the legendary players in NBA history, died at the age of 58 due to the brain tumor disease for which he was treated for 2 years.

In the NBA, he wore jersey number 55 in Philadelphia, Denver, Hawks and Houston.
Mutombo's jersey number 55, who wrote his name in gold letters in NBA history with his achievements, was retired by the Hawks and Nuggets. In 2015, he was honored by being included in the Basketball Hall of Fame.

He was someone who became an idol for African children in basketball.
May he rest in peace.
Goodbye Mutombo..

One of the best center in terms of defense,  that waiving hands which become popular way back, he deserves the recognition as he played well and aside from that he shared his blessings to his own countrymen,  with that personal battle with brain cancer there's nothing he can do as even he got decent resources to continue trying to cure it when it's time it's time,  May he rest in peace as he will be remembered as one of the good player who played the game.
