Yes, for me coach Tim will be enough in case super coach Chot will be true to his words that he will let go the post, I mean coach Tab is coach Tab and his contributions to the development of young generations really bring great outcome to the players, though his greatness is just wasted by the fact that super coach Chot can easily manipulate as he's the golden son of the SBP, hahaha just kidding but hopefully just still hoping for the best for our nationals and for the future development of this program.
For coach Tab, wherever he is, I believe that he respects the management and he will continue to be an inspiration to those who manage to work and play with him.
Coach Chot Reyes and assistant coach Tim Cone will still be the official coach and assistant coach this coming Asian Games as their names were submitted by the POC before July 25, the deadline for the roster's submission, and whomever they put on the roster will be the official players and coaches so coach Chot Reyes is not yet officially retired from Gilas coaching job.
What's up with his statement that he stepped aside after the game against China? Does it mean he will still be part of the coaching staff but not as the head coach? If that's the scenario, I don't find it helpful, as the old system might still be in use, and it's possible he could still influence the head coach's decisions in practice. I don't understand it; please enlighten me if you know.
Their win against China is speaking that Gillas has a chance to win every game if theres an teamwork and good coaching staff then for sure we can compete to other country. And about coach can't Reyes the good decision he made is that he is not focusing on Jordan Clarkson to carry the team and like in that game, Other player has a chance to shows who they are in the court like abundo he is very good player and he shows to us in their game against China.
I don't see much difference in that game. Clarkson was still the focal point of the attack, and the game resulted in a dominant win for the Philippines because of Clarkson's five consecutive three-point shots. If that didn't happen, the outcome could have been different, as China was in good momentum, and sometimes we also struggle in the fourth quarter.
We can call those lucky shots, but that was Clarkson's game. It's just unfortunate that China didn't play well on defense; they didn't double-team Clarkson, which allowed him to take comfortable shots. Based on the performances of Gilas' past opponents, the strategy is simple: just double-team Clarkson, and the offense will struggle.
It's very evident that in that game, Clarkson single-handedly beat China, and it all happened in just one quarter—the third quarter, to be specific. China already had a huge deficit entering the fourth, making it hard for them to come back.
Regarding the coaching job, I guess we can't do anything about it. If Coach Chot continues to be the one coaching, then let's just hope he does a better job.
