Durham is still good as he was named MVP playing in another league.

Former Meralco import Allen Durham named Championship MVP as Ryukyu wins Japan B.League title

That was a year ago, so he is really still on his form and probably have even improved more. With that, I think we will not regret seeing Brownlee vs Durham as they might have an unfinished business in the past. However, since Meralco just recently won the championship, I think they are more dangerous comes the the new season especially with a good import.
It's good now that MVP teams are trying to get better imports for them to compete with SMC teams. Meralco really now become stronger, and the momentum that they have when they won the Philippine Cup might be carried over in the upcoming Commissioners Cup. However, it's a different league when there are imports as some can just dominate and carry their team. At the end of the day, it's good to see old imports like Durham, Brownlee, and Fuller.

Aside from them, I'm seeing old NBA players again like Ricky Ledo for Blackwater and Glenn Robinson III for the Hotshots. Other teams don't have an import still so let's just wait. I'm still thinking if I will watch PBA games even though there's an import. Maybe during the playoffs only since I'm not betting. Cheesy

Some good news and can be still connected to Philippine basketball as our Strong Group Athletics have won against Malaysia in the William Jones cup. The score ended 89-54 and this gives them 3-0 for the entire start of the tournament. Congratulations to them. They'll face USA tomorrow so good luck to them.
They have been dominating in the last three games, except against Ukraine where it was a little closer. However, they'll be facing a real challenge as Team USA is always a strong team, so let's see if the win streak will continue. I'm thinking of betting on this game or this league, but I could not find it in my sportsbook. Are any of you guys betting on this league? If I'm not mistaken, the current tournament now is the Jones Cup, right?

Correction on my post, lol.. it seems like team USA are not sending their best players by just looking at their previous games here.

Looks like PBA will resume next month, and we have a good news as some familiar imports are coming back.

Familiar imports back for PBA Governors' Cup

Durham is back for Meralco, a good rival import for Justin Brownlee, I hope he is still the same or have improve so we will see some good exciting match up with JB.

ROS will have Aaron Fuller..and Magnolia will have Glenn Robinson III ...

I like that move from Meralco after winning the title, bringing Durham and having him leads the squad, he's not new to the system and with the type of a player he is, a good two-way player like JBL that's going to be a good match-up between these two imports, looking forward to see also those other teams to step up and bring their teams to another level together with their reinforcements.

Do you still remember when these two teams played? I think Durham even beat Brownlee because Durham is a good defender and bigger than Brownlee. So Durham is really fit for the Meralco Bolts as this team focuses more on defense, and Durham is a defensive player. I'm excited for the upcoming Governor's Cup; it seems like it's going to be very competitive, especially with the trades that have happened recently.

Yup, with the way they are playing good defense together with Durham that's a big addition to them, thanks for sharing that info which will excite the fans especially those Gin kings fans who love seeing JBL to domiante, with Durham it's an interesting competition as both are really giving everything for the team.

Let see if how they will lead their own squad and what are the adjustments that both coaches will adds up to their system to allow both imports to showcase thier skills and talents.

Gin kings is really doing a good decision for acquiring RJ Abarrientos since they would really have a great point guard with good basketball IQ also can contribute good for their team. We already see how good he is on KBL also his latest performance on SGA. So I will not get surprised if they San miguel or Gilas management is preparing him for Gilas since he deserve to get a slot on the national team since he can contribute a lot for the national team.

I also see that, CTC see that position got emptied when Scootie suffer from an injury it affects not only the Gin kings but also the National tea m without a designated PG who have that ability being a threat both being a playmaker and a deadly shooter he needs to fill that and I think RJ is a good young talent that can fill it out, and with the long time companionship with Kai and Karl I think suiting him for the Gilas is a good decision even as early as now.

I don't also watch PBA anymore but I keep myself updated with the drafts and trades and some results as well.
You should start watching as it's necessary if you are betting on PBA games.
It's still fun IMO, I tell you, just love our own league because it seems like PBA now are making ways to improve the league,  and they are gonna balance to bring back the old glory of the PBA days. I hope it will happen in the future as it's a waste if they'll declare backrupt because they aren't making money anymore.
Yeah I know. I'm waiting for the update about a guest team that will make the games exciting again and I think it's gonna happen again this season. Aside from that, Dwight Howard is in the country and maybe there can be some negotiations about him playing for a PBA team.
I like that. I miss the BAD that really thrilled the fans of the PBA, and in fact, during the finals, they were able to attract a lot of attendance in the arena. I miss that kind of scenario and hope it will happen again. Speaking of Dwight, I read news that he went to Chavit's house. Not sure what's his business, but it seems like he loves the Philippines. If Dwight will play, most likely he'll only play on the popular and rich teams, it could be either Ginebra or TNT, just guessing.
Yeah, that was a great history and might happen again if we've got a good guest team and as well as known import like Dwight Howard.

As long as he get paid even with a weak or farm team, it won't matter to him. He just likes engagement and to play ball.

I'm waiting for a more interesting one, like a star player being traded, similar to the news of C. Stand + pringle.
I am not sure with this but who knows if Terrence Romeo is next.

I don't know about Lucero but I think the winner here is northport.

What's your opinion on this trade? I'm pretty sure Ginebra fans out there are happy to get these 2 talented players.
Ginebra is wise, they're always like this. They've already used CStand and Pringle and they'd go with the younger talents.
Nothing new for me, but this is always the case. AFAIK, CStand will go to Magnolia after this trade with Terra Firma.

I don't see it as wise TBH. They're just using their power to do these kind of unfair trades. Just yesterday, we've seen the 3rd pick as RJ Abbarientos, a solid Point guard that's also good at shooting threes as well. That would've been the pick for TerraFirma, but went to Ginebra. These are the reasons why I hate watching PBA anymore. No offense especially for die hard PBA fans out there, but you knew it already that the competition around the team has been long gone ever since they are approving lopsided trades like this one.

CStand has a few years left before reaching his post-prime years. Pringle on the other hand has reached it already and he's injury prone. I will not be surprised if he will go to another team like Magnolia like you said, or even an MVP team like Meralco.
You may not think that they're not wise but that's how wise they are. Picking the better position of the next drafts and at the same time trading their old and aging players to the younger ones. I don't also watch PBA anymore but I keep myself updated with the drafts and trades and some results as well. Just today, there have been some trades also that had happened from North Port and Magnolia and another one with Ginebra respectively.

Does anyone knows when will be the opening of the PBA Commissioner's Cup?

No update as of this moment, the last news from the official website is regarding to last night draft and by the way are you also thinking about how Gin kings pick RJ Abarrientos? seems to me that coach Tim is preaparing him after the draft there's a big chance that he might be playing for the Gilas squad, a good playmaker with a deadly shooting capabilities,.

I'm in the impression that he's very fit for our National team though he still needs to learn how CTC works with his system and now that he will be playing with JBL and Scottie it's a good start to established that bond and chemistries.

Got this information when try to search it.

The season will begin in August 2024 and will conclude sometime in 2025. The league reverts to a three-conference format starting with the Governors' Cup after being omitted last season.

When I saw this news on Facebook, I was shocked as well because we often see him reporting on a popular news TV show when it comes to sports.
It's just sad to see one of the most active sports journalist passing away.

A good commentator indeed, but I know him for his good reporting since he's a journalist. He will be missed that's for sure by many people that are involved into sports. Condolence to him and his family.

I thought I should post this news as I'm sure as a PBA fans we know him guys.

So here's the bad news.
Chino Trinidad, crusading sports journalist, dies aged 56

Quote
His daughter, Floresse Trinidad, announced Trinidad's death via his former home network GMA on Sunday. His family said the broadcaster was on his way to Newport World Resorts for a meeting when he suffered a heart attack.

We will be missing him as he is a good commentator but I'm sure he will always be remembered.
Condolence to him and to his family.

He will for sure, Chino is one of those commentator who really bring joy to the fans, I remember him covering finals with known names that he interview during the half time break, known personalities like Philip Salvador and Rudy Fernandez during the finals against Alaska and Purefoods, those are the days where celebrities are really showing support and Chino was the one who really makes it enjoyable when throwing jokes are really natural with him.

I also like him because he's very vocal with how the league is moving, criticizing how things are being controlled and manipulated by known names inside the league.

IMO, he is still young, I mean he could have continue to do his job to give fun to the fans. But you know, life is really unpredictable, so we really have to be very taking care of our health. They say health is wealth, that's really important, it's okay to work hard but never ever miss to eat and exercise well so we will maintain a healthy body and mind.

Health is wealth indeed. I agree, Chino is still young as the average lifespan of Filipinos is i think 70 years old if i'm not mistaken. Life is so short that before we knew it someone we knew had passed away. What a sad news but anyways life must go on.

Does anyone knows when will be the opening of the PBA Commissioner's Cup?

AFAIK, CStand will go to Magnolia after this trade with Terra Firma.
Good plan if that's going to happen. No worries for them, as C. Stand will just go to their sister team, which will likely win a championship with C. Stand on the team since it's full of veterans, and they just need someone who can dominate the paint. I guess there's really a big plan behind that trade; it seems like C. Stand will not just end up with this farm team, Terrafirma. Clever move.
That's what I've read in some scoop about this trade.

Very sad news. Chino Trinidad is very well respected and one of those real people that has concern in the Philippine sports. He's the one who spoke about the Gilas U17 roster. RIP Chino, I'll no longer hear your voice in your sports news report.
