Definitely, Besides whose team in PBA can dominate a 4 points range? I believe defender will just focus on rebound if they knew someone will attempt to shoot in 4.  Cheesy

Since this is a new rule in the PBA, we can't tell what to expect, but most likely we will only see a few points from that area. However, over time, players will practice this as it becomes necessary, especially if a team that is behind wants to come back. Just imagine, an 8-point lead in the current setting is a 3-possession ball game, but with the newly introduced rule, that would only be a 2-possession ball game.

The PBA might be trying to set an example by implementing the 4-point play rule, hoping it could inspire other leagues, including the NBA, to consider similar changes. Even though the NBA, the most popular basketball league globally, has not yet implemented this rule despite previous rumors, the PBA can take pride in being the first to adopt it.

This is delusional tbh, NBA will not adopt a new rules set by minor league basketball because they are the role model. 4pt system is a laughing stock especially implemented by a country which 3 points accuracy is not that high compared to other nationality.

PBA just want tot create a hype on the Philippines viewer since they knew that viewership is already not that high anymore.

In my opinion, this rule change won't significantly alter the league dynamics as the PBA is still dominated by a few teams owned by major companies. Real growth in the PBA will come when they address and eliminate this monopoly, creating a more competitive and balanced league.

Maybe the commissioner is been hoked on the idea that basketball nowadays are focused on shooting in 3pt area. But they didn't realize that adding that 4 pt line is kinda crazy idea and decision implemented that's why they didn't get good feedbacks when they announce that they add it. For thinking that they might be an inspiration for other league to add this well I guess its bound to happen its just PBA just try to go first so that they can claim that they are the original league who create this idea. But the commissioner or people behind this idea failed to know that they don't have Stephen Curry caliber players or those people who can shoot on 4 pt area.

I think so for Marcio. Another one is Jeff Chan but I've seen some headline today that there might be some issues against his contract. I haven't gone through the details but there are a lot of those oldies but goodies or veterans that will certainly benefit from this range. Some coaches have also said that they weren't asked for this topic to get discussed before it was reported and implemented by the PBA boards, they weren't asked for consultation on what they think about it and was surprised that it has become a new rule.

I've watched an interview about Paul Lee's thoughts about the 4 point line. He said that it's just fine and he's referencing to coach Yeng Guiao about doing something new and taking risk. But he has highlighted that he's going to benefit from that line because he used to practice it and even before it becomes official, he's been shooting from that range so this type of long range 4 point line is going to be crucial for them and can do a lot of clutch plays.

Paul Lee will definitely benefit this new rule as he shoot from that range even if it was not implemented back then.

Just a question, we know that Marcio Lassiter is aiming for being the best 3 point shooter in the PBA and he almost overtook Jimmy Apalag in that record, just wonder though if he could sank a 4-point shot, will it count to his record hehe.

Good question, that's another area it might not be count as 3 point shot hahaha, but kidding aside Marcio is almost breaking that records if he continue playing healthy chances is not by far in breaking that records, let's see if how PBA will settle it or how they will count that since it's another area that they are introducing and chances that Marcio will try hitting from that range knowing that he's also good from that place even how far it is a shooter will always have that instinct taking that shot.

In terms of Lee, yeah he's known to make that kind of range and it's really an advantage to him since it's pat of his routine practicing that kind of long shots to avoid the defense to bother him.

Yes, true, and with the imports already participating next season, Paul Lee will easily choose his shots as there aren't a lot of 3-point shooters on the team. I'm excited to see him make those kinds of shots as there are only a few in the PBA who can do that. How exciting this new rule is. Could this be a reason why PBA teams will try to improve their outside shooting?

On the betting side, I think the over are gonna hit easily if Bookies woud not adjust their line, or unaware of this new rule.

I agree that Balti can't do it alone, i mean the team needs to get another player or two for them to be competitive enough to battle the SMC and MVP teams. Converge is an independent team and i also hope that they remain to be independent and not transform into a farm team because the league is getting more exciting with Meralco winning the AFC title which means that SMC teams could be beaten if other teams have a solid roster.

A great challenge for Converge if they can also spent money to bring players that can really help Balti and build a squad that can be more competitive against SMC and MVP squads, this upcoming season might be interesting though I guess fans are going to look also to those rookies that each teams acquired.

And speaking about rookies, seems that RJ might be a good one to watch out, knowing coach Tim and how he develop players especially PG, we know names like flying A, JJ and LA I'm seeing RJ is the upoming star that will bring more excitement for the Gin kings, another individual that fans may love, follow and support.

There are rumors that I read about Brownlee choosing to play with his current team, so I'm not sure if he will be coming back to the Philippines to play for the upcoming season of the PBA. Have you guys also read this rumor or is it just me?

I just guess that is just a rumor. Gin kings is the mother team of Brownlee and for sure he's loyalty is in that team.

Also check this article last 6 hours ago https://www.philstar.com/sports/2024/07/30/2374142/brownlee-returns-gin-kings-macau-tourney this end up all the rumor and this confirms that Brownlee will be back in Gin Kings this season.

Also for sure that they Ginebra management won't allow to let go Brownlee since he is perfect fit for their team.

That's expected, as RJ has been playing very well overseas. Let's just hope that he will be the next LA, consistent and very useful during the clutch. Ginebra is still one of the best teams in the PBA, but without Brownlee, they are completely a different team. So, let's see how this goes with the new addition, who is a very good point guard.

Not sure about that but it's going to be tough for the Gin kings without JBL, though I guess there's no permanent on this kind of industry if JBL choose to stay with his current team maybe he's getting decent or he's getting the treatment that he wants or he deserves there's nothing that we can do about what he thinks what's going to be better for him.

Just need to move along and find a good replacement and continue playing, though for sure it's going to be tough not just for the team but also the decision to keep that place for the international competition even they all professionals for sure there's still a gap that might be created, hopefully that rumor will not burn everything that coach tim started to established we compete differently the last we represent our flag and we all know that JBL is a bgi part of it.

The hype is enough; let's see if he can really prove his worth with a team that doesn't play a player just because he is popular. If Tim Cone sees he isn't playing well, he might only get limited minutes. Although he belongs to one of the best teams in the PBA, it's still challenging for him. He's a small guy, but we have huge expectations. I think we should not expect too much, especially in his first season in the PBA.

I think this rumor has not solid basis. My thought is, why would Brownlee play with that league when it's nto so competitive? He could play with the PBA, better than than league and he gets more opportunity to play on tougher competitions since he is our naturalized player.

They care not for the PBA but to the people, the fans and their employees too. I think he's got a point and he can just simple dispose their teams there because he's got a lot in there. But the advantage is always on the teams that he's got there because the PBA management is so loose on them if it's about the trades. This is just what most of the fans don't like about them.  Undecided

Yeah, it's easy for him to dump whatever team/s he want as he already got a lot and he's spending billions to maintain his teams though same with what you said, it's an edge to whatever team he will maintain, he can simply form a super team just like what he's doing right now what more if he only got 1 team maybe he will form a complete package composed of a national team.

He got the money and PBA management always favors him, it's the reality that fans and viewers really criticize the league but there's no action as the mangements are enjoying the luxury from him and also from MVP.
That's the advantage to RSA and MVP but let's see if Converge will be able to get par on them because they're also reforming their roster. Balti is on them and who knows if soon they'd also be able to hire Dwight Howard as their import but won't probably happen this season. The fans are really looking forward for something new to this although it's not about the 4 point shot but to the changes that we deserve to be excited of like seeing newer teams on the finals.

Maybe yes but Balti can't handle that pressure carrying alone the team? I'm in the impression that after acquiring him the chance that he'll be traded might happen,  I'm seeing converge as a another farm team don't get me wrong but they've got the talents before and have chance to be competitive,  but letting Teng and Ahanmisi who are both playing good for the team,

instead of building players to help them and become more competitive,  unlike the former Alaska who really did try their best to keep that name above, but let see if how they will perform in this upcoming season.

He's being grown by Converge's sister team through MPBL and gov, the owner of the team believes on him and that's why he has drafted to the PBA this year and Converge was the first pick and he'd sure be picked by them. I'm not sure if they're becoming another farm team but I think this season, they're rebuilding the team.

Because if they won't be on their side, the league is gonna be dead soon. Ramon S. Ang said that he's spending 1 billion pesos per year just to sustain the teams because if they'll be out of the league, the filipino fans are going to get mad at him.
But if I am him, I wouldn't spend that much anymore and let the competition be fair if he's for the people. However, he knows that the PBA itself is favoring them so, he's nonstop throwing money to the league. I don't want to see the league dead soon but it's all about being fair.

Don't believe too much on those businessman, because if they truly care for the PBA, they should not form a monopoly inside. Ramon Ang works for SMC
But they have a lot of teams in the PBA, so spending 1 billion is just right as they continue to advertise their product. A big change is already due, but they aren't acting on it. Now they are saying they won't stop it even if they are losing money because the people will be mad. Unbelievable.

But they have a lot of teams in the PBA, so spending 1 billion is just right as they continue to advertise their product. A big change is already due, but they aren't acting on it. Now they are saying they won't stop it even if they are losing money because the people will be mad. Unbelievable.
Undecided
