PBA is already at the brink of extinction, we can't really deny that and that is exactly why they are now open to accept some foreign investments to form a team in the PBA now. Maybe if they succeed on this plans, PBA will continue but I think this won't go for long and it won't be the same league that we used to see.

"Brink of extinction" is a hard statement. Seems like you guys didn't actually follow the league. I hope it's just a figure of speech. Can you explain more why PBA is now on brink of extinction? They can even operate without getting much revenue since the pandemic. Having on a brink of extinction means PBA can't sustain its operation. Even PBA is not used to getting a much number of viewers, they have a large foundation. You guys definitely take the KBL partnership as a negative thing without even knowing what should we expect from it. Don't speculate negative things early but instead enjoy the game and betting. Smiley

Please use another choice of words the next time you describe the current status of the league. It's no doubt the league has a problem but being in extinction is definitely out of the topic.

Pick for the day:

Bolts -5.5 @1.91 vs ROS, Bishop and company will bounce back against ROS.
Beermen vs Kings, no odds yet but will bet on the Beermen once the market/odds for this game is open.

I like the Bolts -5.5, they definitely bounce back but I would stay away on the 2nd game Beermen and Kings as it's hard to decide since both teams really need a win. If at some point I will change my decision, I guess I'm going with the Ginebra Kings as Brownlee is still my favorite import.
Bolts will surely win on this, I’m confident on this one. Ginebra really have to win since they are still at the bottom, Brown Lee should get the help he needed from his team so they can back on track, I’ll go for Ginebra as well because I still believe on them so they should do better this time and waste no opportunity to take a win.

The game has already started and Bolts are behind a bit, but I'm sure they'll carve their way to win and cover the spread. ROS is not a bad team, but the import of the Bolts is quite better than ROS import and he makes the team better, so I'm sticking with my pick and remain hopeful for a win.

Well, on the 3rd quarter already and Meralco is still trailing. Best of luck to you, it doesn't look good for me, looks like they'll have their 2nd straight loss if they can't come back and make it a close game to win, covering the spread is another story though as it needs a huge run to finish the game with a win.

Meralco is not done yet hehe. They are now enjoying a 9 point lead with less than 4 minutes to go.

I just hope that they will cover that 5.5 spread but with the looks of it, seems that my bet ticket has a high chance of winning.

edit: final score 93-88, Meralco Bolts won the game but did not cover my bet  Sad.

That gives a little excitement but in the end, it still broke your heart. Cheesy

That 1 point additional to the lead was suppose to give you a winner, but that's gambling, even the small point could result to a lose or a win, it's just that the luck is not on the side of the Meralco  point spread bettors.

That's okay mate, sometimes you lose, sometimes you win, that's the norm in gambling.

I've been in that situation many times that only 1 point is the deciding factor of the result of my bet, and when it hits the W, I'm happy, and if it's the opposite, I'm sad, but at the end of the day I am able to move on and start a new bet to try to bounce back.

For sure @bisdak40 will bounce back because he is a warrior.  Smiley

Welcoming foreign teams is a sign that PBA is slowly dying.

You have a point, they are looking for a partnership to expand their league or their business because they understand that it will never work if they will stick with the current setup that the SMC and Pangilinan are the major investors. With the partnership, the league will become more competitive but at the same time it will also limit the talents to participate, maybe some of them will have room in the MPBL.

I don't know what's gonna happen with this partnership, but it seems like PBA already knows where they are going and they need this kind of partnership. I don't want to conclude though, I will just watch what would happen and still enjoy the PBA season, especially the Alaska which is playing their last season.

PBA is already at the brink of extinction, we can't really deny that and that is exactly why they are now open to accept some foreign investments to form a team in the PBA now. Maybe if they succeed on this plans, PBA will continue but I think this won't go for long and it won't be the same league that we used to see.
They know that the popularity of the league is slowly declining already because of lack of competitiveness that they also are the reasons why it happened.
Either way, there is no other choice but to accept teams and offers outside PH just to make the league survive. Overall, what we've seen many years ago where you can see Filipino People watching on live and very happy are long gone already. The time where people prefer to watch live than watching on their home. Those times where fans are cheering for their own teams since every team is competitive. The times where audiences are very happy watching their favorite team playing. Those will be memories anymore and I don't expect for it to happen at all. It saddened me a bit on how the league is going right now but.. it is what it is.

On other news, it looks like the stint of Orlando Johnson in the PBA will be over as he will be replace by Shabazz Muhammad who is the first choice of Meralco as their import but didn't continue because of family emergency and now he will be playing in San Miguel Beermen. You can read the article made by spin.ph here:
https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/shabazz-muhammad-replacing-orlando-johnson-as-smb-import-a793-20220221?ref=home_featured_big

I'm an avid fan of SMB but I just don't know why did they replace Johnson where he is playing well already and almost got a triple-double in their last game against Ginebra.

They managed to flip the table on the 3rd quarter especially when Maliksi decided to stepped up and carry the team until the end, good thing they won and bounced back from their last defeat against North Port. But sadly they didn't cover the spread, it was just a point shy though. Better luck next time mate!

They both have the same ranking at 3 wins and 3 losses, if they both continue to slide on the ranking then they might not be able to enter into semis. Well, looks like this is not their conference since other teams are doing better compare to them, but of course they still have the chance to win and I’ll go for beerman on this one.

It's too early to say that, they may not at the top as per their usual standing but once the elimination starts, these teams are still very dangerous and actually I will root on them as I know they are capable with their talents and experience.
They should not wait for the eliminations and start working now so they can qualify for the next round, many are rooting for them since they are the favorite teams but I think as well that this is not their conference and their imports can’t do well everything alone, someone should play their game and help other players as well. Ginebra has been struggling even in the past conference, they should address this problem now.
It's too stupid of them if they will prolong the problem, they should solve it right away and it has to start anytime soon, they need some consistency as that's the only way they'll be back at the top again. I miss the times when Ginebra has been dominating, and that was before C. Stand and Pringle.

By the way, Bolts beat the ROS but they didn't cover the betting spread as they only won by 5 points, the spread was -5.5.

a single point away from winning, awts..you can take the next game between SMB and BGSM, I go with SMB @ 1.68 ML earlier
just a spare amount to add some entertainment while watching this two sister team competes, let see if SMB will take this game
as bookies give them as favorite.

Good luck to all who will bet on this next game. Let's enjoy watching as well. Roll Eyes Cheesy

Yes, of course they should address the problem, but now it's different because this conference has an import and Brownlee has been here before and he help the Gin Kings succeed in their games, in fact, he help them won a championship, so it should be a little fix of their problem.

We speculate too much, wait until that partnership will materialize, for now, enjoy the PBA setup as we are in a very exciting season now.

Agree, we are just speculating too much on the future of the PBA and we could be wrong lol.

The important thing for now is that the PBA is back and we can bet for our favorite team, that is what we are here for, the betting side  Grin.

By the way, Magnolia is still undefeated, which team do you think will give them their first L? And why?

Even without the Beast, Magnolia is still wreaking havoc. That's a very hard question for now on who will give them the first lose. TNT is the team that i think could beat them but they already have met and Magnolia defeated them so i think will advance to the semis without a single lose.

I got worried a bit about the previous game of BlackWater. I thought they will get a win and that will break their achievement of a continuous losing streak in the history of the league. They cut down the final score with just a few score behind. They need to maintain that kind of performance in order to also improve their record of losing streak.

Go Blackwater!

I think it's really necessary that they will be sold so the players will not lose their job, and since the salary of the players is high, then for sure we are talking of big companies here.

Just to clarify things, Alaska players won't lose their job. Instead, they will be part of the next draft.

The perks of companies that are likely to buy the Alaska franchise is, they will also be granted all the future draft rights of the team. Currently, Alaska has a right for 2 first-round picks next conference.

Now I wonder why there are more companies willing to buy a franchise instead of newly registering as a team. BlackWater also received lots of offers before if they are really serious about selling their franchise before.
