Soon, maybe MPBL can have their own channel or they will be offered an airtime to the new owner of ABS-CBN. We don't know but hopefully.

That would be a good start as TV 5 has the PBA already therefore they need a big network that will televised their games. However, if they still could not get into a big channel, I guess having it through live streaming platform like youtube is already good enough, for sure now many people are watching online too aside from their tv screen.

TV5 is also subsidiary of PLDT that Pangilinan owns and it is already good that they have a channel where we could watch but I mean there's no harm if MPBL itself will buy a frequency to host its own channel rather than just renting it. In today's time, people are already used to just watch it on an online livestream in their laptops/computers/cellphones but TV's are the traditional ones that we used to have.

There's news that it's like a Chinese name team but I don't want to believe what I've read since there's no validation yet from the management but with the reported 3 companies, at least that's for sure takers of the franchise. I also hope that it won't be MVP or SMC company that will take it since the league is just full of them and legitimate competitive teams are finding it hard to excel due to them. ROS would probably also be the next team to leave if this politics in the league won't stop.
Where did you get the information that ROS might leave? I think if they will do that, there's no reason to watch the PBA because in the end, it will only be the teams of SMC and Pangilinan that will be playing, and to be honest, it's going to be boring to watch as we know they can rig games.
I've just read it from someone, it's not an original opinion of mine. It is true that their games are becoming boring and we as fans, can tell it to them and I'm sure that the management is also aware of it.
But they don't do anything anymore as they're allowing those good trades for the SMC/MVP teams while making the other teams a farm team. Well, it's not going to change as long as there are still the franchises that are staying in the league.

My favorite team Blackwater will be the next team that will leave lol. They are even almost out back then when their owner tries to sell the franchise because of that violation they committed during the pandemic where they do practice even it's not allowed yet.

I hope they should not leave. I like to see their journey making records day-by-day. They should continue that record that no team can do.
Looks like your favorite team lost again to the NLEX by 20 points Cheesy.
Now they matched the longest losing streak in NBA as well which is 26 and another lose and they will surpass it. I would like to see them surpassing that streak.

5 players from NLEX are in double figures. On the other hand the import of Blackwater, Glover scored 39 points and played 42 minutes but unfortunately he didn't got the help that he needs from the team but overall this import really is a good player and if he only is on a better team that team might be on the top 4 or at least at the top 8. Well, what do we expect from a team who wants to sell their franchise last 2020 already :|. Still I want to see them continuing their streak Cheesy.

According to the article, it can be seen in IBC13, not a major channel, but hopefully in the long run they'll get slot in one of the biggest networks in the Philippines.

The championship is more boring if the 2 team fighting for championship is owned by same company like SMB vs Ginebra or TNT vs Meralco.  Roll Eyes
Rain or Shine as well or Magnolia Hot Shots. I think the local leagues are even fun to watch than them to be honest, like MPBL.

Exactly mate! If only Maharlika League is always televised on well known channel like GMA or atleast they have there own free channel. The MPBL should be the real PBA because the team is per region and the rostes is spread properly that makes the game balance. There's regional support too coming from fans unlike on PBA which only strong team has a strong fans like Ginebra. The cheer is very one sided and boring to watch if both team playing is not famous. I hope they will make MPBL style in the future so that can follow the same format of NBA which is per state team.

PBA has been and always been the first one to give us the professional basketball experience locally, and it was good but sadly they didn't maintain their reputation in the long run as maybe the successors of the management were not that much interested and only care about the money. Now, MPBL was born and we can't deny that it will be a threat to the PBA but we also can't deny the fact that MPBL was more on reality basketball like NBA and without any issue of rigged games.

Soon, maybe MPBL can have their own channel or they will be offered an airtime to the new owner of ABS-CBN. We don't know but hopefully.

Hopefully they will not sell the franchise to SMB or MVP group since it will kill more the league since for sure there's another independent team will leave the league next to alaska. And just wondering about what company got interest to buy a franchise on a dying and in balance league? At the high of pandemic for sure they struggle what alaska encounter especially if they are independent company.

As per the report, there are 3 companies that are willing to buy the franchise. Those are not named yet officially but rumor stated that it might be Chooks-to-Go or Family's Brand Sardines.

I'm just becoming curious now if there are more teams that are willing to buy franchises, it means more companies like to enter the PBA. Now that a strong company like Alaska retires, PBA should now be open more team expansion.

Alaska is one of the strongest foundations that the PBA has. It should be replaced with more teams to cover what's lost.

It is sad to see them go, but aside from business concern for sure there's something more personal, that's why they decided to go.

With those mentioned names, if I'm not mistaken, Chooks will have a hard time to acquire Alaska's franchise business interest from SMB

and with how we know the politics inside this organization, Cojuangco will not let any competitions with their business. I can be wrong with

my opinion, but let see if what will happen after.

If they want to make the league survive well that is the best thing they need to do since expanding the league and open up more franchise can turn back the interest of the fans for sure there revenue will pump up since provably this will wake up the interest of past PBA fans who doesn't want to watch before since they lose their interest due to the obvious imbalance happening in the league. PBA should not focus on their current franchises since this will cost them a lot of money if more fans will not watch their league anymore.

I go with your opinion, if they will open it up and allow more franchise to play, it will bring back the balance. The current situation inside PBA is obvious. Only two team owners are competing with the crown. It will bring back the interest from old fans who wanted to see real competitions, the one that we had from the league can be manipulated.

Those "hulog issues" are now being forgotten, PBA simply covers it up  Roll Eyes Tongue

It's not about giving chance to the others but it's about that it's the solution they can do for focusing their main business. As the pandemic has hit, they have to cut expenses although we're doing good now with the current situation yet, the Alaska franchise has already lost a lot of money.
With the recent news that I've read, there are likely 3 interested companies in buying the Alaska franchise and this was covered by the meeting of the PBA's management emergency meeting.

There's no such thing as a real PBA because PBA was the first major league in the Philippines before MPBL existed. Maybe overtime the popularity of PBA has drop because of the new leagues that are starting to get the attention of the fans and MPBL is surely on of them, so let's see how the PBA would react on the latest announcement that Alaska is leaving the league.

With regards to Alaska and its franchise, it seems that three companies are interested to buy its franchise as per Comm. Marcial said in this article.
https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/sports/basketball/822213/3-companies-express-desire-to-buy-alaska-franchise-reveals-marcial/story/
Quote
Three companies have already expressed desire to buy the Alaska franchise after the latter made a shocking announcement on Wednesday that it is leaving the PBA after 35 years.

There really are some companies who wants to join the PBA but its just quite unfortunate that the PBA doesn't want to expand and add other teams aside from its current teams.

Good if that will happen, according to the news, this will be the last season of Alaska but they still have time, so if one would really buy it, it will save the PBA's reputation also. We have discussed here about the future of PBA before that other leagues are also popular these days, they cannot take this lightly, its a serious sign of their direction in the future if they will not improve.

No matter what happened we can't denie the fact that only SMC and MVP teams are dominating the game. I hope that PBA will change in regards with the company that having a multiple teams. They are monopolizing all strong player that's why low budget team don't have any strong player in there roster. Entering the PBA right now for a small company don't have a chance to win since there's no balance on the league. I'm tired watching same team or same players that is fighting for the championship. The championship is more boring if the 2 team fighting for championship is owned by same company like SMB vs Ginebra or TNT vs Meralco.  Roll Eyes
I know that feeling when you always see MVP or SMC teams fighting in the Finals. I feel bored watching the same teams in the Finals but.... that is how PBA is right now. Competition is gone and TBH, its kinda predictable which teams will enter the Finals or at least in the Semis by seeing the roster of each team. One thing more is that, most of the good players are either in MVP or SMC which gives lower chance to these independent teams to be more competitive and enter the playoffs or at least the Finals.

I don't have any idea into which companies are interested in buying the Franchise of Alaska but I think SM will be one (just don't know if they are still interested since they showed interest in joining the league years ago). I hope that the Board will make something that will make the league more competitive. Maybe publicizing the salary of each player would be the first step and the free agency right now is favoring SMC and MVP because they are capable paying these talented players even at high price.

They didn't disclosed any details of why they leave but I think it is because of todays situation and of course money to make them move. Alaska Aces has joined and has been playing for almost 4 decades now since 1986 and have been holding 14 titles next to SMB with 27 titles.

About the expansion, the PBA should but I doubt the management are willing to extend their hands about that as we already know about the managements issues. Time will come, PBA will be abolished and maybe MPBL will be the ones who will continue to grow further.

I think the other teams will also try to think about quitting. If the league is no longer competitive and it's always the sister companies that are facing or against MVP teams.
There's no sense for them to stay. One suggestion that I've read is that they should just make a new team but not anymore with the PBA franchise but with the other leagues like MPBL or any other league in the country that's gaining traction.

It's understandable why they took that way where they had to surrender their team and to give the chance to others who's willing to buy the franchise, Alaska will not be forgotten as they are already part of the PBA history. Other teams might as well follow that footstep, it might be sad but it is the best choice they've got because of the pandemic and the league is also no longer keeping up because of bad management. I won't be shocked if these teams will go to the MPBL.

The winning streak of the Bolts is now over, it was ended by the Northport in a good win as they beat the Bolts in a wide Margin.
Final score was 98-109, and Bollick is the leader of the local players.

Now, the only undefeated team in the PBA is only Magnolia.

That means they are not really unbeatable, Northport has some talents also and they match the Meralco Bolts very well. They have Sumang who also had some great contributions to the team including the ankle or Knee breaker to the import of Meralco.

No team is unbeatable in the PBA, even in the NBA or any kind of sports as upset does happen. This is not a big upset though as the NP is also a decent team, their improvement this season on their lineup is a big thing, and Bollick is healthy so expect that they'll give their opponent a problem, and they beat Meralco who are one of the hottest team in the PBA.
Magnolia will soon experience their first loss, its very rare to see undefeated team in PBA, they all have losses after all but of course a better team and plays will bring them into the finals so I still see a good opportunity for Meralco to stay on top. NP did a great job, kudos to their good plays that make Meralco work even harder, for sure Meralco will bounce back.

Speaking of Blackwater, they have a game today against NLEX and that losing streak has a 95% chance to continue against the Road Warriors but seeing the spread that is too high, i'm going to bet for them with that huge handicap.

Blackwater +11.5 @1.87 vs NLEX, Bossing will lose this one but i think NLEX won't cover the spread.

There's no chance it will change because PBA is most likely controlled by SMC and Pangilinan, they have invested a lot on the league, so it's always their interest that will be followed, sorry but that is the sad truth.
Should be since it's centralized. Sadly interest aren't growing unless they change the way it was used to be like before. I think it needs a reshuffling of players or should have more balanced team on different teams in the PBA.
