Didn't expect this news, I guess it's we will know next conference if Vic Manuel has that power inside to lead a team. Northport always fails to qualify in the playoffs but they are trying to improve their lineup, with this news, I'd say they are on the right track.

Anthony is probably what the Phoenix needs as they don't have someone to help Wright carry the team. Wright's production has also decreased the last conference so the team is affected a lot, with Anthony, this team would certainly be a playoff contender again.

When a player does not give the expectation especially coming from a trade, you know the management will try to find a solution by bringing a new guy in exchange for a new player. Looks like Phoenix does not like a player coming from Alaska as they traded Calvin for Manuel and now they finally land to a player that is not from Alaska, hopefully, this time they'll find what they are looking for as the Fuelmasters roster are full of talented young players.

What's with Alaska players that Phoenix management doesn't like, is it the discipline that was instilled on them while they were playing with Alaska ?  Grin

I'm also surprised with this move by NorthPort as I think that Sean Anthony is one of the pillars of their team but I guess they needed a player who can compliment the style of play of Robert Bolick. On the Phoenix side, I think Sean Anthony's role will be more of a mentor to a lot of the Phoenix's young players because he is not getting young anymore and he's also injury prone so i guess this is one of the few win-win trade of the PBA.

Going back to the topic Grin we are all waiting for the next conference and we are excited to see if how good those imports from different teams, how they will help in chasing for the title. Roll Eyes

According to Harizen, the new conference is likely to start this month, so be more patient as we will eventually witness a conference where imports could finally play. Of course, this is different from the all Filipino cup as it will be more exciting with more production from the imports, probably more high scoring games as these imports could put up good numbers every game.

Yeah, they're going to allow that when we're already under alert level 2. Cinemas are now back and for sure sporting events like PBA, they're going to be back again with audiences.
Maybe next month we're going to be at the alert level 1. The daily cases are dropping and as well as the total number of covid cases, they significantly dropped.

Actually even in Level 3 or 4, IATF can allow audiences at a limited capacity. But since sports activities are not allowed on that level, no talks about a possible audiences. We are now late for this allowed activities. IATF should just open it and just ask the league to become strict.

Covid19 will be here forever and will become a normal disease. Don't tell me IATF will keeps on putting this restrictions forever too. They can also put a mandatory vaccined person as a requirement before anyone can watch live.
I still have that hope that covid will be easily cured and it won't be a bigger thing just as it was a year ago up to now. If you have already gone out, you'll be seeing children in different establishments and that's why having these PBA matches with audiences soon is very likely.
We just need to wait when will be the next season starts. And I think that there will be too many fans that are just excited to get on the seats of Araneta watching and relaxing at the same time.
There are fans who are excited to watch their favorite stars performing live. It's nice to know that we are getting to closer to allow the majorities to go out and live as normal as possible, though covid still here the chance of getting cured when you suffer is very possible now. We just have to take care of our own self and make sure to strengthen our immune system.

I'm sure if the Cojuangco is the one who managing the Gilas or our PH team, Brownlee is already a naturalized.

It won't take long to argue about that matter. Brownlee is very flexible. He knows how to adjust and the level and caliber that he can provide to our nationals is competitive enough compared to those who we have now.

It's just a matter of politics inside this sport, just a rumor though:Smiley but if we assess this guy is more likely fits and will probably help our National Team!

Cojuangco doesn't have any power to make Brownlee a naturalized player. And that's beyond the control of any person who managed Gilas or the national team.

It was done in a legislative process in the Senate. And even there are lots of bills already passed for a request to make a foreign player naturalized, as soon as the Senate doesn't pick it up, then it will be pending until noticed.

It's not just the performance but there are also other factors before a foreign player will be naturalized. Remember that it's almost the same as being a Filipino.

But you are right on the way that, maybe if a big fish is handling the Gilas, they can pressure the top executives to make the process faster.

That's my point Bro!  Grin if there's a big fish beyond him to back it up, but you pointed also those reasons, the legal ways for this process,

Not sure what happened but there's call for him before, I just can't remember the exact information about it. Let's move on and prepared for this upcoming new season.

I see that the restriction is now on the level 2, and there are many posts from FB that indoor games are now allowed.

Closer now to see PBA playing around metro. Good to see players to be more comfortable knowing that they can play, then rest after together with their families. Smiley

Phoenix set to trade Vic Manuel to NorthPort for Sean Anthony
Quote
IC Manuel’s stint with Phoenix may prove a short one.

The veteran big man is on the move again and headed to NorthPort in a trade for former Defensive Player of the Year Sean Anthony, sources said.

The PBA Commissioner’s Office, sources added, has received the papers for the deal that also includes young wingman Michael Calisaan, a free agent signed to a one-year deal by the Fuel Masters during the offseason.

Manuel on a new team, I guess this one is good for the benefit of both teams. We saw how the Phoenix struggle where Manuel and Perkins production have dropped. It could possibly be because they can't play fast when two bigs are playing together, so I guess it's the right decision for the trade as Manuel would certainly be a huge help for the NP who has improved a lot last conference.
Anthony is used to be the captain of the NorthPort team so trading him is kinda surprising at least for me but... well we've seen unimaginable trades in the past right Cheesy. If you know what I mean.

Anyway, the inside defense of NorthPort is stronger now with Manuel plus add Slaughter. One thing more is that Manuel will have more chances to shoot at the perimeter because they have Slaughter to get those offensive rebounds in case he misses. For me, the NorthPort won this trade. The team has a good amount of guards and at the same time, a good amount of players who can defend the paint. Bollick, Ferrer, Malonzo, Manuel, Slaughter. This starting 5 of them is strong already. Lets see how the team will play a few weeks from now still Smiley.

It's a win-win for both teams IMO, why would the Phoenix keep Manuel if there's no improvement of the team. Look, they are better without Manuel and even before Calvin joined the team, Phoenix is already competing well, so I guess having two legit big men, Perkins and Chua are already good for the team, at least they can operate more as they don't have other players given the same minutes they get with the same position.

Yes, the virus could stay forever but it cannot be forever also that there's no cure to it. The situation is just temporary, big pharma will eventually produce a cure of the virus where you just need to take it to feel relieved from the fever, so this vaccine might be useless in the long run. I understand that not everyone gets their vaccine but please, the government should be fair, why not allow also people who do not have a vaccine yet to watch the game if they allowed the PBA to get an audience already.

It's always the IATF that has the final say on whether they will let the fans watch live or not but with covid on a decline, I think we are going there. Manila will be downgraded to alert level 2 and IATF recommended the removal of plastic barriers on public utility vehicles, high chance that people can watch PBA games by Christmas.
It's just fresh on the news that starting by Nov. 5, a few hours from now. The whole NCR will now be placed under alert level 2. And that means that there will be more capacity in establishments and as well as kids can go now into that establishments as long as the parents are fully vaccinated.
So I think, if this will continue until the start of the next season, we could see PBA playing with fans and for sure there will be a lot to watch live because we all missed that activity watching live games.
Great news, if they are allowed to go to establishments like the mall, then there's no difference in going to sports events as long as the proper protocol is observed. I don't know why it's hard in our country to get back to normal while in other countries like the US, people are already allowed to go in sporting events to watch, so I guess we are too far behind already.

There's still no update on whether the PBA will allow fans to watch the game, they just rely on the protocol imposed by the IATF probably.

Latest update about the new conference.

Thanks for the update, there's no assurance that the fans may be allowed but as the restriction gets lighter, it could give a possibility that one day we will see some fans in the arena although limited. What's good also with the possible new setup is that players can go home to their families unlike in the bubble where they just have to stay in one venue which would make them miss their family.

I can't wait to see the next conference start, it's been a while since we saw the imports play so this could give more excitement, and please don't expect that TNT would still win the championship this time because SMB and BGSM will surely not gonna let it happen.

Getting lighter and the chance of having the full setup is no longer far. If other countries who start bringing their economy back are doing well, they are making it possible to dwell with this virus.

We can also achieve that if there are more vaccinated citizen and if possible everyone will take this to lessen the chance of more spread.

I'm excited also to see another conference to start, a good indication that players and team owners are still here
and willing to bring the entertainment to the fans, though there are possibilities to see some stars to fly out of the country
and take a much better offers.

While most of the players are choosing the offer over the team, Brownlee is just one of the few players who are a complete opposite of them.

For sure the offers from other countries are higher because we've already saw PH players going to other countries to play maybe for experience but lets face it, they want to earn a higher salary that's why they are playing outside PH. Brownlee is different because he chooses to play because maybe for him, the competitiveness here in our league is higher than other countries.

Many wants him to be the naturalized player but for some reasons, they aren't picking him. Now they chose a different naturalized player.
