Still hard to have that guess not until we already have seen the full roster change for most of the teams. Since there's already the list of imports for every team, we can have an idea who amongst them has nice stats as part of their history and if you're someone who does a lot of research and background checking. But to look at the entire teams with its full roster, I guess at this point, we can just guess that it's going to be the top teams as the usual.
With or without imports, we are always choosing those top teams like SMB, Ginebra, TNT Cheesy. That is how unbalance the league is right now. Some teams are just farming teams of these top teams which is kinda disappointing since they are removing the competitiveness of the league.
Yeah, that's for sure. That's always the choice of the majority but since there's already the imports and they're already there. We know that this could be a little game changer. Despite we know how the league goes with the major teams and likely the royalty teams, there could be some new teams that could the spot on this new season. I'm just thinking how quick the games were finished for the past season and the way we're talking about the opening of games and now, we're on the upcoming new season again.

Its been a year without having a match with the PBA is there any updates regarding them? Still, they handle some of the events?. Also with the teams and rooster I don't have any updates on them mostly the NBA are the only one getting active than the PBA recently. The last I saw is when the Genebra makes a good shot of championship after i didn't get any updates on it.
Wait, aren't you following the PBA? It's not a year, it's just a month after the All Filipino Cup was over and the TNT was the champion.

The last game was October 29 where the TNT won the championship and they ended the series in 4-1.

I guess most of them played in the NBA but does not have a good career in the NBA. Justin Brownlee AFAIK did not play in the NBA but as we saw in the past conferences, he is still very competitive with the imports. What worries me now is that with some of the imports that are bigger than Brownlee, how would the Ginebra be able to defend the paint when they don't have a tall Center.
Physicality and Ginebra still has Aguilar and CStan which is I think still a good defender in the paint though I'm not pretty sure if they can defend and stop those imports especially the big ones knowing how big and strong some are. I'm thinking that Brownlee will let the local players of Ginebra defend the paint and he will just score and score like what he is doing back in the years.

I guess I just missed Slaughter, you know, they struggled when they traded him and the Northport who receives him gets better, so maybe the Ginebra this new conference will not be the same team. Yes, Brownlee will score but we also have the opposing team who has an import that could score, so I can't be too confident now to see the same Ginebra team that won championships in the past.

I'm a bit happy that some of you shared your opinions into which team will you think will dominate this upcoming Governor's Cup.

How about Henry Walker, you still remember this guy? I guess this guy is really good when he played as an import before and ROS is so lucky to have him as he is a good big man.
Correct me but I think he was the import of Blackwater back then when they are still a stronger team that they are right now. Good to see him once again but in a new team already.

They already have shared the full list of imports of all of the teams in the PBA.
Quote
Brgy. Ginebra - Justin Brownlee
Meralco Bolts - Shabazz Muhammad
TNT Tropang Giga - McKenzie Moore
NorthPort Batang Pier - Cameron Forte
NLEX Road Warriors - KJ McDaniels
San Miguel Beermen - Brandon Brown
Magnolia Hotshots - Mike Harris
Alaska Aces - Olu Ashaolu
Rain or Shine - Henry Walker
TerraFirma Dyip - Antonio Hester
Phoenix Fuel Masters - Paul Harris
Blackwater Bossing - Jaylen Bond

One of the imports that we must look at is the import of Meralco Bolts, Shabazz Muhammad. He is a former NBA player and he played in CBA where he averaged more or less 30 PPG in one season. I think that Meralco is one team that other teams might want to watch this conference (IMO). They have legit import that is a shooter/scorer and they also have a good roster and we've seen it in the Filipino Cup where they are 2nd in elimination round. Which team do you think will dominate this Governor's Cup?

Too early to tell yet but if we based our speculations on history, my choice will be Ginebra as Justine Brownlee is a tested import and he is already acquainted with the style of play in the PBA. Shabazz Muhammad might have impressive numbers in the CBA but bringing it in the PBA is a tough challenge as we all know that most of the imports complained about the physicality of the PBA, and that might affect his numbers.

Those imports who complained about the physicality of the PBA are not accustomed yet to our style, PBA is probably building that culture so we will be tougher during the international competition, we lack height but at least we play with more physicality.

We are going to see if Shabazz Muhammad could still drop huge numbers once the conference will start, but I doubt he will because we have a lot of great imports playing too and ready to compete in a more physical type of game, flopping is not the game of the PBA.

He is a former NBA player as well. I checked his record (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/muhamsh01.html) and I don't see it impressive enough though, however, since this is only a PBA, then most likely his production will be better.

I think TNT does not need to touch their roster, they have all the players they needed to win another championship.

Wiliams their rookie always play like an import, so they look like they have 2 imports playing which makes their team better compared to the others. I know that Ginebra will be the favorites to win this coming conference due to Brownlee but I have a feeling that TNT will not easily give that to them as they are more confident now, especially for players like Pogoy, Rosario, and others who won their first championship.

Both Rosario and Poguy are playing tough when the team needed them, they just allow Williams to care of the business but when the time that Williams needs help from his big Bro these two are ready to fire up and back Williams to continue dominating, we have seen them playing as a team and not just a Castro centered team.

The improvement of having coach Chot back, his mentorships provide inspiration to the team. We question back then why Williams is getting minutes during the early season of the Bubble.

We saw why he trusts his rookie and deserves that minute. He brings the title for this franchise and he will continue with the help of his teammates.

Some SMB fans in social media think Vic Manuel added a boost to their firepower. Maybe I will agree to them if he's still in his prime. Don't get overhyped on that trade. Since Governors Cup is coming, Vic Manuel might end up as a bench player. The reason is because of his position. He is mostly used as Power Forward but since there's an import next conference, rotations will be modified. I don't see him playing alongside Fajardo as SMB is always putting 3 guards.

However, he will be the best backup and support as in PBA, having a big man is an advantage.

Nicely said  Smiley. Vic Manuel will be a backup, though he may play alongside Fajardo at times I think he is not that effective because the painted lane will be crowded. Arwind Santos is one of the best stretch-four in the PBA as he compliments Junemar Fajardo with his high percentage 3-point shooting that is why I agree with you trade will not boost SMB's firepower for now.

Is there a date already for the start of the second conference? I saw in Fajardo's social media post that he's back in the Capital last week and they have started practicing already.

That's good, the fact that they are practicing already means the new conference is just around the corner. How about the imports, is there news already of whether they are in the Philippines or not yet? Our expectation for the start of the new conference is gonna be this month, so let's be optimistic with that and I'm optimistic as well that the trade will boost the SMB's chance to win a championship.
There’s no news yet about the imports but they are coming for sure as we welcome them back on the up coming conference. With the trade on SMB, that can be a good move but for sure TNT and other teams are well prepared to counter that, and it has become more exciting to see that trade this conference will become more exciting, hopefully they can allow now live viewers.

Knowing what type of league the PBA is for sure he will end up on that situation if he cannot produce the same number as before, SMB has a reputation that they didn't retain their players for good since they are so competitive organization and they do all just to make their team became more competitive and they can even move anyone if they see more better player which can help more to win the championship.

They have the money and all the resources that needed to make things happened, all players are hoping to be part of this franchise

even how good you are and how well you perform once opportunities knock on you. It's really hard to resist. Remember Terrence Romeo? He's starting

the spark playing with his pal Poguy These two were a good body outside the court, they already playing and jiving but when SMB give him the chance, he

did not hesitate to sign the contract. If I remember it, TNT buy his contract from Northport and all the perks were gone after the trade to SMB,

and rumors back then that B-League also eyeing for him but he choose still chooses SMB.

This is the unfortunate part of being in an SMC team. No matter how you contribute to the team, they will trade you even you are on a brink of a few conferences to play in the PBA. It happened also to James Yap.

That is not business since there's no big money involved. SMC teams just want to keep things competitive and they need a big man as TNT Katropa puts up a challenge to them last playoffs.

Add Danny Ildefonso to the list mate  Grin. Danny had a stellar career when he is with the Beermeen and lead them to multiple championships but the front office doesn't value that because he got traded when there is an opportunity to get young players out of him.

This could also happen to Fajardo but I think the Kraken is very aware of this and he expected already that this could happen to him also.

Like I have said in my previous post, SMC is taking seriously the TNT threat and they will do what they can so to beat TNT next conference.

This is pure business, no business would pay an aging playing that is not anymore putting numbers that is expected of him, I'm sure JMF would understand if he gets traded, that is part of the business and they have to deal with it professionally.

I agree with this and we've seen SMB doing it for so many years already and one of them is Danny I. that has been said.
After all, the SMB team prefers performance over experience that is why they are picking younger players and this is also a move by them too to make the team still competitive. I'm pretty sure those old players out there like Cabagnot, Lassiter and maybe Ross are the next ones that will be traded to another team in 1-3 years.

Kinda disappointing if you will ask a fan but I'm pretty sure that the players knew it already that this time will come.
