for me the 5-2 of israel vs. austria was the surprise today. after the extremely good performance of the austrians at the european championship, i would have expected at least a close away win at today's game...
I was just watching the highlights and I can safely say Israel made the game look too easy to score! As far as I know Israel is the better team of the two and seeing that score line makes me think these guys might have underestimated their opponents and thought it was going to be a walk in the park, but unfortunately they were caught napping and punished for it. Austria need to fix there defense and team attitude before their next games. Israel's goal was a surprise, will they be able to qualify for the World Cup, a surprise from them in the next match will be eagerly awaited. besides Israel..Serbia and the Netherlands also scored a lot of goals, it really seems that the qualification in Europe this time is very tight.

Everyone talking about French problems now but actually, if you remember, this is an old problem. I'm still backing the Spanish as I did in EURO but the bookies are still looking at France and Brazil to be the top 2 favorites, so they also remember French problems are always at the beginning. Tough to win early games in Group stages and then they improve towards the end of tournament. They will probably feel the same way.
France may be having the best football players, but it is of no use if there is no bonding between the players. Everyone wants to score on their own, and don't want to pass the ball. Sometimes it work, and sometimes it doesn't. Spain and Italy on the other hand are teams with perfect coordination between the players. The same can be said about Belgium as well. Lukaku may be the best player in Europe, but it is of no use when he fails to pass the ball. Even in the Euro Cup, he wasted some good chances because he wouldn't pass the ball.

Today we have really nice matches like Belgium vs Czech Republic and Switzerland vs Italy.
Belgium defeated Estonia the last time by 5-2. Lukaku scored 2 goals in this one. They are still the leader. Czech Republic defeated Belarus 1-0 and they are following Belgium at the 2nd position by 3 points. I think that Belgium are highly the favorite team here and they will win it.
As for the other match, Italy got a surprising and unlucky result against Bulgaria, 1-1. But they are still the leader by 4 points. Switzerland were not too bad in the Euro 2020 but now I think that Italy can defeat them again like they did in that tournament by 3-0.

Azerbaijan can make surprises sometimes against teams like this. They are not the worst club really. In fact, they were nearly winning this game with the goal they scored in the last minutes of the first half. They performed well in the first half. After scoring the goal, they started playing very defensively to maintain the score till the end. And it was the wise choice for them. They were so close to getting a win but Ireland finally found the equalizer in the 87th minute. Both teams got their first points after this result.

I loved Didier Deschamps as I grew up watching him and France during Zidane days, plus were the first EURO and World Cup I watched properly as an adult but he needs to find a way to get the most out of their talents. It's a damn crying shame to see all that firepower not scoring.

One of the games today is going to be played between Ukraine and France. France got a surprising draw against Bosnia the last time. After getting a red card, things got harder for them to win it. In this match, I believe that they will show their best performance and beat Ukraine here.
France surprisingly had a very difficult match here. I didn't expect this to happen. Ukraine got ahead and made things difficult for France. France finally found the goal in the 50th minute with Martial. However, they replaced him with Martial unexpectedly. I would prefer Griezmann to be replaced with Benzema. They found the goal right after this incident. Faroe Islands are normally not a powerful team and we saw it in this match also. But I appreciate them that they resisted really well against Denmark. By this win, Denmark won all of their five group matches so far.

Turkey has been able to build itself very well. They are not as weak as in the past. As a team they are stable enough now. I don't think they will lose against the Netherlands. Actually Türkiye is in a crisis right now. They need at least draw to get out of this crisis. Euro 2020 performance was the worst and since then they missed chances to win a game against Montenegro. They blew a lead against Latvia as well, it could've been five perfect games for them but now it's on the thin edge. If they lose to Netherlands this crisis will be deeper. Hopefully we will watch a good performance and Hakan Çalhanoğlu and company will give their %100 this time. I feel like he is very picky about games and don't give much against weaker teams.
