Spain draw with Greece was biggest surprise tonight. Spain played well, but referee gave questionable penalty which made score 1:1. Greece today made just 1 shot in total - feel the 2004 vibes, lol Cheesy
Ibra returned to national team with an assist and win against Georgia.
There was some interesting high scoring games with big comebacks like Hungary 3:3 Poland, Scotland 2:2 Austria (amazing goal by McGinn is worth to see), Romania 3:2 North Macedonia.
Hungary - Poland probably was the most exciting one.

I read the statistics of this match somewhere and by all statistical indicators Spain was absolutely better and should have won convincingly.
Greece really had a lot of luck in this match and it has to be said.
Things like this happen sometimes, a mix of unfortunate circumstances but for the Spanish national team there is no need to be afraid, they are still one of the best national teams in the world.
Personally, I'm much more worried about the poor result of Croatia in the match with Slovenia.
It's a continuation of the bad cycle of Croatian games after the World Cup in Russia, where they won a sensational second place and perhaps an indication that Croatia is moving away from the top of world football.

Tomorrow will be a bit easier, it is not going to be super easy but it is going to be a bit easier. I agree that Turkey has a huge chance to win, they showed how great they were in euro qualifiers and also beat Netherlands to prove that they are still good as well. However one thing is for sure, they are not really playing with pure talent, of course they are very talented but they play with this fire within them and that is why I think it is quite obvious that there is this question of will they still have that fire or will they get complacent about the game.

Aside from that I think Germany Ireland, France, Croatia all will their games if you ask me. These are easy games and the odds are quite low for most of them, but if you combine them all you could get like a x4.0+ odds all together, so you could basically get a good profit from guaranteed games.

In this group the Netherlands will surely advance to the tournament, but Turkey is the favorite to become second after they managed to win against the netherlands

Well, winning the Netherlands right at the opening of the qualifiers will certainly give Turkey a stimulus to keep winning, and there isn't way to say that it was lucky because nobody scores 4 goals against the Netherlands, even playing at home.

But, the Netherlands qualify? I don't know... They were already out of Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup... ok, the team is now totally renewed, but they will have to play better.

Yes, Netherlands should play better than their performance in the match against Turkey. Norway and Turkey both are very tough opponents for them in the group. And only the first two teams of a group have a chance to advance. If Netherlands don't improve their game, they could end the group as the 3rd.

i also think that the netherlands will have a very hard time qualifying for quatar. there are only 13 places in total for the teams in UEFA.
and there are 10 groups with 5 teams in each. Of these, only the best team qualifies. and 3 other places will then be determined in the playoffs.
and there will certainly be very, very good, well-known teams that you wouldn't expect to be there today.
that's why I think that 2 or 3 very good teams from europe won't take part in the World Cup in quatar because they don't manage to qualify.

Not much joy for me on this start so far. I did pick the Turkey upset but missed out on handicaps (I went for straight underdog wins) against Spain and France... Missed out to big wins there just because it ended 1-1 haha.

Also missed an England correct score boost last night but I would have chosen 4-0 anyway, thought maybe we might get hiccups in the firing line.

About the doubtful favorites - tomorrow is the match between Norway and Turkey... On the victory of one of the teams very attractive odds - 2.3 vs 3.2... Bookmakers prefer the home team, but I think Turkey will win! Wink

It looks like odds are changing for the benefit of Turkey.  Grin  I expect a really tough game in this. Norway are more powerful with Haaland and Turkey defense should watch out for him especially. And Sorloth also is a big threat. But after seeing Turkey's determination against Netherlands, I also think that Turkey could manage to beat them.

So far only Belgium  gave me a good impression about their game and result.

Italy,Germany and England all performed very well together with Belgium and Switzerland. The only surprise I saw from the big names so far is Spain not winning against Greece at home.Netherlands for me was a surprise result too but most of the big names won easily their games.

The match between Spain and Greece is very interesting. I mean Greece is very lucky. Ball possession Spain 80% and Greece is only 20%. It seems kinda funny to me.  Grin

Earlier I wrote that the coefficient on Greece was unjustifiably high... To me, it's a good team, which was European champion not so long ago! So I was not sure that Spain would easily beat them...

As of now, Spain is perhaps the top team in the UEFA region. Holding them to a draw is a very good result for Greece. But there was a lot of controversy during the match, especially related to the penalty kick that was given to Greece. Inigo Martinez tried to tackle Giorgos Masouras, and spot kick was given to Greece. VAR was not used for the match. If it was used, then it could have gone either way. Anyway, all the best for Spain, for their match against Georgia on Sunday!

Nice and lovely clean sheet from England, I loved the game.
Jesse lingard is back here providing an assist lol,John stones was solid unlike  him some years back,i think Ruben Diaz complemented him well at the Etihad Stadium, I see more starts of John stones than Harry Maguire without been biased.

The german national team did ok yesterday and especially the first half time was great to watch with a lot of speed straigtforwardness to the goal.
If you look at the german midfield players with Kimmich, Goretzka, Sane, Gnabry, Havertz and Gündogan than you can probably say that there is no team with better individual midfield players.
The defense still looks a little shaky though.

Not only did Spain disappoint me, but France also disappointed me. France did not win the match despite having three world best strikers. How can they win against a big team if they can't manage to win against a small team like Ukraine? It seems to me that the bonding of the players with each other is not good. They can't adapt to each other. Like France, Giroud is a player in the EPL, Mbappe is a player in Ligue 1 and Griezmann plays in the Spanish league. Each league has a slightly different style of play. So maybe the players are not able to adapt to themselves.

Ukraine is not a minnow team. They have qualified for World Cup before and previously they had star players such as Andriy Shevchenko. Even the current team have some very good players such as Andriy Yarmolenko and Yevhen Konoplyanka. But France completely dominated the game. They had 18 goal attempts, compared to just 4 for Ukraine. Also France had 62% possession.

Now coming to the Spain vs Greece match, the former could have won it, if not for the controversial decision from the referee to award penalty kick to Greece.
Mate, I think it doesn't matter how stronger the Ukraine team is! When you have some world-class striker in your team then how strong the opponent does not an issue. They had 18 goal attempts but they did only 4 on-target-shots.To me, it seemed too little.

These two days have shown that it is very difficult to make predictions... Some teams perform well, while the favorites do not always meet expectations!
Or is it the bookmakers who mislead us? Cheesy

Not many upsets yesterday. As you posted, the Spain vs Greece match was a surprise. I don't want to comment on the referee's decision, because I didn't watched the match on TV. I had a lot of hope regarding Iceland, but they went against Germany by a big margin (0-3). England had perhaps the largest margin of victory, as they destroyed San Marino 5-0. And finally, Italy continued with their fine form as they defeated Northern Ireland 2-0.
