To those who are complaining that the host country Philippines is not prepared for this task, maybe that person has not hosted any event in his life. Even a simple Birthday party can end up looking like its was not prepared. What more for this kind of event with a bigger coverage and magnitude. A lot of fake news floating around just to discredit the organizers.

Nobody is complaining except the fellowmen in the hosting country, specifically those people in the opposition.
I just remember how relevant the Blackeyed peas song to the media spreading fake news just to destroy the current administration.

Vietnam is my favorite to get a lot of medals in this tournament.

But there is little I want to discuss or people have already said this. That the host of the Games was very chaotic and lacking preparation. You can find everything on Twitter. That some things were not prepared in full by the Philippines.
These kinds of incidents of lacking into the preparation normally happens in every host games. I think those tweets were just too exaggerated because there's a lot of fake news that circulates on the web.

Vietnam is a good choice, last 2017 SEA games they were ranked as 3rd w/ 58 gold, 50 silver, 60 bronze medals.

There is too much image destroying the local press is doing. Those people that are proven guilty of fake news or anything misleading should be punished and be dealt accordingly after this event.

I can feel that even some of the Philippine team members are under the wallets of the opposition party and they will try to sabotage this event and the actual games itself. The Philippines should finish at least top 3 in medal tally. If not, then it's a shame and somebody has to be blamed.

Lol a lot of the previous news that you read on social media, local mainstream, and even international media are now being debunked. Some reporters have apologized and issued erratum already. Some blunders by these reporters are the use of old photos for the facilities, fake stories on food and not knowing backstories to some of the events. Unfortunately, a lot of keyboard warriors follow the news blindly even if it's false or erroneous. I suspect there are also camps doing a smear campaign to to dampen the government's effort for this SEAG.

Let's just focus on the games.

And as I have seen in local news, lots of finger pointing as to who is to blame with this South East Asian games debacle. They have been talking of having a Senate inquiry after the game is over. And I"m sure Filipinos are totally disappointment because it seems that the government is not really prepared to handle this big event and it will reflect how the Philippines are really doing in terms of governmental responsibilities. They should have at least prioritized this because every eyes is on the country. However, it's too late now, we have seen that the Philippines is not ready for this kind of sporting events, IMHO.

The disappointment is there and as a member of the Host country we accept it since the mistake comes from our Country. I am so disappointed with some news that athletes got delay or whatever the reason but some of the media coverage has totally wrong and people from media increasing the tension cause some of them hates the current government. Yes there are some lapses on their part but putting gas on a fire will probably make it a huge issue on that side. The games are up and running and I think this thread should get over with and proceed to the culmination of the sports event.

this is our first time (but this is not an excuse) to hold/host an International event.
No, this isn't the first time we hosted an event such as SEA Games we even hosted 4 of it, first in 1981, then 1991, 2005 and presently right this year. The year 2005 is we emerge as the top contender during that year.

Media should be publish news about the sports itself compared to the existing deficiencies, can be what media say is just from personal opinion, we know media use by politician to give a bad reputation to the existing government to get the sympathy of the people
Really we could blame the government for this but instead of showing camaraderie these people are fond of spreading hate, blaming and the likes especially on social media the so-called keyboard warriors that can easily point fingers they're just showing that they aren't pro or anti-government they're showing they are anti-Philippines, how sad of it.

Love the mascot and the name also "Pami". Usually mascot is taken from animals but this time only the circles that describe the countries of southeast asia, simple but describe good things.

This concern might have different opinions and we know social medias there's always keyboard warriors for opposing parties from the host country. Let's set this aside and focus with the topic as the event will start in the next couple of days. The host country always have the advantage since they can afford to join every categories and enhance the chance of bringing more medals.

It's just news don't buy that one it can be faked, besides, the opposition seems the one controlling the media. Besides, this SEA Games shouldn't be held in our country but should be on Brunei it should have to be withdrawn by the President in 2017 but opposition from sports politics appealed (just read it from a friend) not to blame this scenario but I guess the government really lacks the time to prepared. There's too much politics involved in this event and besides, I guess they can cope with it those are just small hiccups, people on social media just make it a bigger issue and it spread fast like wildfire and they complain of little things instead of praising that it's progressing.

Be aware of news or articles that are spreading all over the SocMed. Did you really saw it on the local news or is it just a hoax website/platforms? Our government has a lot of problems that should be fixed first and they didn't expect that those problems will come when SEA games are arriving. All of the problems when the athletes from different countries arrived are already been solved and take note that the opening ceremony of SEA games haven't started yet. I can't blame the current administration (even though I really hate it) 'cause hosting the SEA games is an opportunity and I think they foresee a massive change in our economy.

Regarding about those people who keep blaming the government, I think it's their right to state an opinion about some failures of the event 'cause they're really worried about the impression of other countries to the Philippines and take note that this is our first time (but this is not an excuse) to hold/host an International event so the thing we could do is support them until the SEA games here finished and become successful.

I hope the issues regarding this should be lifted 'cause some we're already getting positive feedback from other countries.

I think this is a mess up for Philippines as being host in the South East Asian Games. Many visitors and early arriving athletes have express their disappointment over the hospitality of the Host Country. Read the articles and me myself as one of the community of the Philippines has totally dissappointed with what happened. I hope President should take action on this faster than the news arrived cause it's really ashamed for those who arrived early and given not a good treatment.

According to Cayetano, they are just humans and they make mistakes, but they already apologies and I don't think its really a big issue at all.
We are hosting an event so its normal to face some problem, and what I like about the media in the Philippines is they keep to reporting negative news instead of the good ones.

not only according to him but almost people can say it and can understand it  . mistakes do occur at all times especially on the big event like this because people are also excited  .  and about reporting neg news vs the good one ? lol that sucks to the reader or to the one's that see the new's    . i think they should change that atitude because that affects the reputation of one's country  . for the sea game's . goodluck to the participants  , hope all are safe
Everytime I watch the news there's a negative comments about how the host handle this event not just the venue, but also the accomodation and the food. I keep on watching to become updated for the latest happening on the game.

Anyway still hoping for the best and for the safety of the players.
It is highly recommended to not trust the media. They are mostly fake. All the stories shown by them are fabricated. They just want to make ratings at earn some fame. The main problem with journalist is exaggeration. Even is the event happened, it never was that big as shown. For the SEA event, Philippines is putting all of its efforts to make it a success and spectators must appreciate that.

Real talk here, how can the Philippine athletes perform better if the government instead of cheering for them, the anti-admin is throwing mud to the admin because of corruption in building the stadium. Just check the local news in the Philippines and see whats the story about SEA games and you will find over priced stadium being investigated and over priced contract handed to a Malaysian firm. Very little mention about the athletes.

I am still hoping for Philippines to make it at least on the top 3 if they cant make it to number 1. Philippines will be represented with 1,868 athletes.

The main issue there is the lack of preparation that the government has especially in handling the funds and also from the sectors that manages the overall event. I bet they should consider the concert managers in their management because the system is quite poor. In this case, it will not affect the performance of the athletes despite of the market condition. Meaning to say that we can still have a betting platform dedicated to the SEA games at this moment.

A lot of people have been saying that aside from the Philippines' basketball team the other sport they see them to dominate is the e-sports tournament they will have. Games such as DOTA 2 , Tekken, Mobile Legends, and Hearthstone all have notable players/teams participating at each segment  especially Dota 2 where TnC is the national representative whom they just defetead ViCi gaming recently besides that I heard the Dj will also be playing on their team which I think will make them have a more unstoppable lineup.
Mobile Legends and Dota will be the two most expected the Pinoys to take the medals.but also we are good in Tekken so basically we may add another sets of medals for the Country.
but of course basketball is the most targeted and Boxing.

I hope they can be improved their standing from 6th place in the last SEA Games, the Philippines has the home court advantages and they have many athletes to field in hopefully we can improve from 6th to 3rd placer, it's hard to dethrone Malaysia and Thailand they are the dominant countries in this region.
Maybe this time they can improve more better than the last time they played. Well, I've heard some rumors that the game would be better if they play it on their home court. I guess Philippines will take more gold medal here since they were the ones who will be hosting the SEA Games this season.
Not at all, we cant still say yet and if you do base up into those previous post about the statistics its clearly that they arent able to cope up on top 1. Deficit number might be small but trying to reach even wont really be that easy.

For people talking about e-sports and other things then you are already out of topic. You should create another thread for that yet weve talking here about typical physical sports games not the e-sports one.
How can you be so sure that they can't take the number one spot? Odds are increasing especially if you are in your hometown playing because you will feel the cheering of your own townsfolk. Regardless with the situation on their country I still think they have the ability to take that number one spot.

Maybe DotA and Tekken will be in the bag.
Is there anyway to watch these games on livestream? does anyone knows a link where we can watch these games soon? I'm not a fan of Arena of Valor, StarCraft II and Hearthstone. But it's interesting to see athletes compete with other e-sports too.

Mostly, I'm into Dota 2, ML and Tekken but I'd love to watch them all. So, if someone knows a page or site that will provide streaming for these games please link it here, thank you in advance.

Regarding esports in SEA games, mobile legends will not be an easy medal for pH team since many of the SEA country have adopted this game. Maybe DotA and Tekken will be in the bag.
