I'm not familiar with the Singaporean case.

Philippines have been very good in sports, its that it just luck funding to sustain it's sports program and of course the athletes, but since the games is held in the Philippines, no necessary fundings like air fare or food for the continent that's why they're performing very well.
Not a valid thing to presume on because performance of athletes cant be seen just because they do have less expenses and also the funding been talking is on pertaining with Sports are like facilities,
trainings and other stuff that enhances a countries athletes not typically talking about fare and food expenses.Imho thats the thing what he do trying to say.

Basing on statistics i can say that PH is really dominating but not totally a guaranteed thing for them to be confident yet vietnam isnt really that far to close the lead.

I will bet for my country to be honest because I believe of the athletes preparation this time is more tedious than before I suppose and the government fully support every athletes I think that isn't far from possibility. I bet as well for Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand to bring most of medals but for basketball I am for sure we will dominate with it.

I think Nitrogensports, Cloudbet or maybe Sportsbet will host some of it especially eSports that is growing on popularity nowadays on gambling sites.

Just picking on this. Cloudbet are offering odds for the Soccer tournament which is obviously at a critical point, with the final Group games being played.

With the Philppines at 1.02 needing a big win against Timor to go through the correct score could be an interesting bet. Timor have played three, lost three, scored one, conceded 12.

The food in the sea games athlete's village are so good or delicious that the Malaysian coach is worried that their delegates will be overfed  Cheesy

The food is delicious, even better than those served at some hotels... and it’s open 23 hours every day.

“With the athletics venue across the road from the Village, I'm afraid they might have too much time in their hands and the mess hall might become the focal point,” said Mumtaz, who is the deputy president of Malaysian Athletics Federation.

Athletes living at the Games Village are served breakfast from 5am, while the last call for supper is 4am the next day. In between, there are four more scheduled “feeding times

I also read some feedback that says it's a strategy by the host country to keep the other competitors out of shape Cheesy
That's not true of course but that still sounds funny...."If you can't beat them, feed them"

Did not know Vietnam sent so few competitors and yet they are second in the table, I think that truly says a lot about them

Thanks, thats my point of posting the number of athletes each country has sent in this SEA games. And surprisingly, Vietnam with less than a thousand athletes are giving a strong showing.

Singapore as usual has a lot of athletes whose nationalities are only recently Singaporean. I guess in the modern age it does not matter anymore,,, but good to see the power is shifting. Philippines sports is so strong if only other things got the same funding!

I just read the news that there is a looming storm coming in venues of the game.

Quote
MANILA (UPDATE) — A typhoon churning closer to the venues of the Southeast Asian Games in Luzon will follow the same track as storms Glenda and Reming which left scores dead several years ago, the state weather bureau said Friday.

Typhoon Kammuri was 1,470 kilometers east of southern Luzon at 10 a.m., packing maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour and 170 kph gusts, said PAGASA.

The storm will be named Tisoy when it enters the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday or Sunday, said PAGASA weather specialist Raymond Ordinario. The 30th edition of the biennial games will be opened formally on Saturday.

From Tuesday, the storm will bring strong winds and rains to Southern and Central Luzon and Metro Manila, which are all home to SEA Games venues, he said.

https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/11/29/19/typhoon-kammuri-threatens-to-hit-during-sea-games-week-pagasa

So for sure this will be affected the athletes here so there might be surprises in the medal standings in the early goings of the game.

China will give some tough time and somehow, I feel like this is going to win badminton. What differentiates the team is their built-in thirst and passion. They really do not know when to give up or stop. Even if Indonesia or Malaysia will manage to win, it wont be as easy a task as it used to be. I was more excited about basketball, chess and all swimming games but the whole event is fun and full of thrill.

I agree that volleyball is a fight between Thailand and Indonesia, but basketball is with the Philippines control. I still think though that Indonesia will still fight for a better position in the medal standing.

Congrats to the Philippines,  being the host has its advantage, but to be fair they really put up a spectacle in the opening and they have a strong contingent specially Carlos Yulo, who would have thought that Filipinos will excel in world gymnastics?
You are 100% right. It is very difficult to compete with Philippine basketball in Southeast Asia. They are the best for the men's sector. I'm sure the gold medal will indeed be theirs.Maybe in this part of Southeast Asia each country has at least 1 sport that is very prominent in terms of achievement

Speaking of volleyball though, the Philippines lost to Vietnam in their opening game.

Quote
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine women’s volleyball team put up a good fight but Vietnam proved steadier in the deciding set to hack out a 21-25, 25-23, 25-19, 20-25, 15-8 decision in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games at the PhilSports Arena on Tuesday, December 3.

Well as I have said they are not heavily favoured here. But they put up a good fight as per the news, they just feel short. Nothing to be ashamed though, Vietnam is tough as nails just look at the medal standings.

Ofcourse for me because Im Filipino so I choose Philippines because also I see in the past few years there is a lot of good Athletes that Philippines have and for sure they will win a lot of medals.  I saw the opening of sea games there is a lot of people there who cheer and very happy just enjoy watching every games there and bless to the player who join the games because that is not easy.  Be proud what country you represented to the sea games and pray for them to not be injured.
The opening was an amazing and thrilling experience. Even watching it on television made people excited. All the countries participating have good players and winning is not the most important thing. A fair and passionate game makes fans happier even if their team loses. Sportsmen are famous for their struggles and guts. The government of Philippines has done a great job and efforts of every single participant is appreciated.

Unfortunately, Basketball is just counted as 1 medal so no matter how many basketball players were entered, its just 1 medal.
We are hoping the the Magician Efren Bata Reyes will bring the Gold to the Philippines too.

Medal Tally
|Country| Gold      | Silver    | Bronze   | Total
Philippines|41 |25   | 16|82
Vietnam|18 |24   | 21|63
Indonesia|11 |14   |15|40
Malaysia|11 |2   |11|24
Thailand|7 |10  |19|36
Singapore|5|9   |13|27
Cambodia|1|5   |17|21
Myanmar|1 |2   |20|26
Brunei|1 |4   |5|10
Laos|0 |0   |6|26

There's still a lot of games where other countries can get their Gold.

Philippines leads the medal tally, little bit surprised with that result when see the second place is Vietnamese, and it is also strange to see that Indonesia is outside the top 5, don't know maybe the sports that has been the target of the medal has not yet started the match.

I agree, there's a lot of surprised from the sporting community to see Vietnamese fighting it out wit the host nation Philippines in the top of medal standing. Maybe Indonesia didn't sent their best athlete or it's just that the Vietnamese has fully prepared for this event.

It could be that Vietnam is preparing very well for this Sea Games and it seems like the power map has begun to change

we are just started mate, rankings will change eventually as days passed by.

-snip-
I know it bro and hopefully happen, ranked second is good enough in my opinion for Indonesia.

Volleyball is one of the most effective sports for Indonesia to get medals. We also have great chances to get medals from badminton as I believe Indonesia is still the best for badminton compared to other South East Asian countries. Hopefully all athletes will play their best to reach the target, Indonesian President wants to see Indonesia to be on top 2 and I also believe most Indonesian also hope the same although it will be hard since other countries collected more medals already till now.
Yes no doubt with badminton, if Indonesia player playing consistency, but I just read news that Indonesia Female  team lost from Thailand 1-3.

I am very satisfied with the results of the Indonesian national team volleyball match. they managed to beat Vietnam in the group stage with a very convincing score of 3-0. I hope this can be a very good start for Indonesia because predictions from the beginning will indeed face Thailand in the race for the gold medal later. Without reducing respect for other countries, Southeast Asia specifically for volleyball is still controlled by Thailand and Indonesia

Still have enough time to collect medals from those sports that they've known to be dominating. Though the competitions is tough as the host country
already gathered a lots of gold but there's still more sports that other countries can win the medals and add it up to their tally. They just need to work out and make more competitions to win.

The sea games are worth to watch but sadly, I don't have enough money to watch it live. I would like to see beautiful event places like in Rizal memorial stadium.

Honestly, ticket rates are cheap. At least on the majority of the venues.

Although, when I say cheap, obviously don't expect a ringside nor front seat. Cheesy But believe me, for example, lower boxes seats of MOA arena isn't that far from the main stage as everyone thought while watching in a Live TV broadcast. Been there about 5 to 6 times.

Even outside venues do have cheap ticket rates. Although if you are from Manila, you will should transport fees so better just stick around the Manila venue. Smiley

To be honest, there's no kaching left to me because I spent it all in my project study to finish my degree.  Cheesy
So even it's very cheap like the typical ticket of events in SMX, I can't afford to buy it or even pay commute fare.

Yeah right, I don't see any reason for those who bought in advance to ask for  reimbursement since it's also been a form of support for filipino athletes. Are there many sponsored for the athletes in this current SEA games?

Definitely all the Filipino athletes are supported by the government while there are some athletes who were sponsored by private firms. One example of this, Philippine's women basketball team is sponsored by Blackwater.

a few days ago there was a new where the president ordered that the tickets for the SEA games be given free to the public except for basketball, football and
volleyball since they were sold out before the tickets became free to the public. the only problem now is your fare.

Yes. Aside from the usual free tickets for volunteers, it will be given to others too. I just don't know how's the process or how and when will be the release of those tickets. AFAIK, no instructions yet as of now.

And the best thing here? People who able to purchase tickets prior to opening didn't ask for any reimbursements. They consider that as a form of support for PH athletes. Didn't able to check the ticket price prior to opening so I don't have an idea how much are those.

The reason why every venue is full of audience.

Aside from cheap tickets for sale, there are free tickets too.

I just check some of the ticket prices and I can say that some do have an affordable rates that even a student can avail of it. Lucky those who lived at nearby venues. In the MOA arena, lower box C only cost Php50 with the lower box a at Php 250. What a price and in exchange, you will see our athletes especially our own bastketball team since this sports will be played at these arena.

Better sell their tickets cheap rather than expensive where only few can afford.
At least with bigger audience, the athletes may have added motivation to do their best.
Sometimes those cheers can help them in boosting their morale and so they will do their best shot as long as they can.

But the typhoon is making some delays, hope their weather will be good again.
And the latest updates of gold medals says PH is leading in the pack.
