I've been mining on Slush for a couple of days and I like what I'm seeing.
Despite reading about the scorebase system thoroughly, I still have some questions.
Even though I mine 24/7, I'm mining on my gaming rig. Therefore I have to adjust the aggression level all the time to get the most out of my GPUs and the only way to do that is to make a quick disconnect, change the agg lvl and reconnect immediately.
It takes about 3 seconds. From what I read, uptime is important in Slush's pool. What I'm wondering is, does this rapid dc/rc affect my score? Or should I just keep my aggression level midrange so I can keep my uptime as long as possible but at the same time, losing some hashrates.
I'm currently choosing between Slush and 50BTC. I'm leaning towards Slush but I'm not sure if PPS is a better way for me.
Mining at 300MH/s
3 seconds doesn't make much of a difference even with Slush. And it is number game. Sometime you will loss "a lot" but most of a time you will get a little bit more. And compeering PPS and Slush method is hard since you get a constant payment with PPS and big differences depending on luck with Slush. Best way to go around is to look at luck at the end of a day and then on a graph with the daily reword(be sure to use server time). Then use this calculation day reword/day luck*100. You should get a number that is close to 100% luck so you can look at 50BTC and Slush pool.
Thanks. This is what I need to know. If disconnecting for a couple of seconds makes a difference because I restarted my uptime, I would have to go to 50BTC. But if it doesn't make that much of a difference, I'm definitely staying with Slush.
Cheers mate, been trying to get this info for a day, tried on IRC and the newbie forums but I had to get out of the newbie zone before I can get an actual answer.

I don't think that your short disconnect will affect your results. I'm pretty sure how often results are sent back is what is being tracked, not the actual time your miner is running. But, i could be wrong. I'm no expert.
Yea, this is the part where I was confused. From my understanding, score are based on the time it's submitted during a round. Disconnecting shouldn't affect much since I'll miss maybe a share or two and when I'm back, I'm suppose to get the same score per share.
But from Slush's explanation here
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.50002He made it sound like disconnection even for awhile is bad.
