On a couple of my miners, I got "Failed to subscribe."

I'm using Stratum.

Is this the beginning of another DDOS? I hope not!

Some miners are fine, but at least one can't reconnect to save itself.

I have cgminer jumping from stratum.bitcoin.cz to stratum2.bitcoin.cz, stratum3.bitcoin.cz, api.bitcoin.cz and off the pool to a backup pool now for about 2 days... Before that there were missing shares. Now I'm not sure if this is related...

And since I don't see any posts from Slush I really don't see any reason to report since it took me a lot of posts explaining how I know that shares are missing and nothing changed since no one could look into that.

JP something is off

EDIT: To get such big differenced in shares per minute on such long blocks is also a sign that we have a problem... Slush please look what is going on with stratum...

17919 was 30,46 shares per minute

So, using numbers from my previous example - 17BTC + 16% bonus (~3BTC) = 20BTC equivalent for Bitminter vs 25BTC + no bonus for Slush ...

Given that tough choice ... I think I'd rather stay with Slush and skip the "bonus".
Look at luck. It was over 150% so that explain everything... So you were getting 50% extra because of luck. No idea about luck on Bitminter since I can't find this data. So remove about 8 BTC from slush total and I have no idea how much you have to add or remove from Bitminter to compensate for luck.

This is a copy paste from Bitparking:

NMC is 0.00915001 BTC per NMC at Vircurex, we earn 221.383927344 NMC per bitcoin block = 2.02566514904 BTC or 8.1% additional BTC per block
IXC is 0.000189 BTC per IXC at Vircurex, we earn 7036.7594417 IXC per bitcoin block = 1.32994753448 BTC or 5.32% additional BTC per block
DVC is 2.08e-06 BTC per DVC at Vircurex, we earn 366497.887589 DVC per bitcoin block = 0.762315606184 BTC or 3.05% additional BTC per block
Total extra BTC per block is 4.1179282897 or 16.47% extra income

Now tell me that this isn't something you would like to have...

So no one else is having cgminer reject shares from the proxy? All of my pc's keep doing it at randomly every couple days. I didn't have any issues before that DDOS issue with the pool a few weeks ago. The proxy reports that share was above target.. It doesn't effect all my pc's at once though, and if I restart cgminer on the effected pc it starts accepting shares again.

I'm wondering if combined mining is actually a waste of computational effort -

Bitminter has 11.5TH and got 17 BTC blocks today so far + 79 NMC blocks
Slush got just 9.7TH but got 25 BTC blocks today so far + 1 NMC block

So, if that's the case - I'd rather have BTC than MNC.

we can have both, nmc wont take anything at all away from btc.  It just needs to be set up.

I don't think that's the case, Slush created the stratum protocol and has said merged mining doesn't work (yet or at all I'm not sure).

That's not true. Both BitMinter and Bitparking offer merged mining over the stratum protocol.

I created an account and jumped through all the hoops to be able to post here, just so I could say thanks Slush, you're doing an amazing job and this is the BEST POOL EVER.

I'm not against Namecoin, I just see the project dead, there's no development in last year, documentation is non-existing, merged mining patches obsolete (most recent official toolchain is for bitcoin 0.3.24!).

In these days I'm migrating pool to new servers and I'll drop old pool core completely (I won't install it to new servers at all), so NMC will be completely disabled in few days. But if everything will run smoothly, I'll dig into merged mining and if there won't be any real issue, I'll try to set up NMC mining again.

If that over six months ago and it has not happened yet even with some people asking then I doubt it will happen. But I guess that is up to slush.

And he add it. On getwork...

Use a pool that supports merged mining or start your own pool, instead of spending that time whining like a child who has not got their own way maybe?
I'm thinking about it but I would like to stay with Slush so that why I'm asking and I can see that I'm not the only one.

Stratum is not limited in terms of merged mining.  It's a matter of adding merged mining to the pool software.  Both Slush and BTC Guild have elected to stop supporting NMC with Stratum due to complete lack of development.  NMC is based on bitcoin 0.3 code, has had NO active development in over a year.  It is a failed experiment only being kept alive by people taking advantage of others with pump & dumps.
I know... As you have my backup pool I need to use getwork because of that. And so what. As long as it has value I don't even care why... Unless you are saying this is not for making money but experiment in bettering humanely... If this is the case you can give me all extra BTC that you don't need for running the pool.

yet, extra income is extra income.  it only takes time to set up, once. We dont have to wave a flag for nmc to make a profit from it.

It was yet and It works on some other pools. So it works now...

And if we have merged mining we could add all chains that work with it... Slush please reconsider... over 10% extra is a nice bonus...

Also it looks like the last payout went out with 0 tx fee. Pretty sure that hasn't been the case in the past.
