Choose the ETH, ETH is the best one. its the major alt coin. then i can recommended to you , TRX , SIA ,XRP
$ 600 very large funds I think altcoins are good to invest in the long term for this year is likely a big chance is ethereum because ethereum altcoins in second position of bitcoin and the price continues to increase from time to time.
If you're looking for x5 and x10 coin in a year, i will suggest you for some undervalued coins like dogecoin . Dogecoin is a long-history coin but seems like it never have any big change on the price but in my personal opinion , it will happen in this year and the exact time would be at the October 2018.
I don't think doge would be a x5 or x10 a year.
It's designed to have the constant and unlimited flow and is intended for a tipping meme coin.
If you want a sure shot rise, invest in an ICO of a good project. We have higher competition for the mining coin section.

This is a really good thread. I read each and every response to the op and I'm glad I did. Some forum vets in this thread giving good advice. Many options to choose from for different options. I have about 6k right now and I'm probably going to keep 3k in eth, 2k in ltc and 1k to play with.
Invest half in well established coin like XLM, ICX or STRAT and the other half in low marketcap coin where is a nice potential to go 10x-20x - like ONION, LUX or SEND.
If you would like to make profit up to 10 times, in my opinion to reach it buy coin/token that just tradeable in the market so you will get cheap price but make sure the token has good development and nice concept like Bitdegree, this token i think will be massive potential and has posibility to grow in this year.

X5-10 are quite big goals. For coins with a large capialization it will be difficult. More realistic for such purposes is coins with a small capitalization of 50-60 million. As a rule, projects with such capitalization after the ICO. I guess that if you want to make 5-10x, you shouldn't choose the coin from top 10. More "x" will be made by coins on 90-100 pisition on coinmarketcap. But it is more risky for you. I advice you to pay attencion to Skycoin, very advanced and short-change coin. p.s I want to buy 1 coin.
