Well,  what you guys got here is split-chains all over the place. i'm thinking at least 3 or 4 at least.   what you first need to do, is to agree "who has the master chain".  and by doing so you then all issue "Connect=" to that and sync for a while.  (not "addnode".)    <- 8-bit party had it right 30 pages of of this ANN ago.  but collectively there wasn't enough support to fix it.

So i'll recommend:

>  1) you all agree on what client to use
>  2) you then agree what chain to use.  (i.e. block 930242 should be transaction "wlelekkrhwegslkshdlfkhk245", or whatever).
>  3)  then people who have those CORRECT transaction on the block needs to stay connected. And ADD below what address IP Address they have.
>  4)  then everyone else connects to that.  (with only "connect" and not with "addnode"
. . . .this is will create a strong chain backbone for the future.

i'm an old dog, and this is what needs to happen.  i'm sure you'll beat me up for something in the following posts, but i've been doing this for almost five years now.

now you've all had a split community.  you can either rally together and make it happen.  or flail around for next couple of years.  it's a community decision.

Take care for now.  -Taltos

Does this coin even have a website? I can't find one on the Coinmarkecap page: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/8bit/

In their TOS they put it very clear: no development = possible delisting
Stop spreading your bullshit here and move on. There's no such thing in their ToS and also you have already proven you have no idea how to define "development".

Copied from his removal policy:

We look for coins that have high community demand, innovations to crypto-currency technology, or a contribution to science and humanity.

Ups, nothing of this.

Markets with less than 0.5 BTC (or equivalent) of average daily volume over a 7 day period and have been on Bittrex for 4 weeks or more are eligible for removal.  Coins with no developer support, working blockchains, or violate our policies are also candidates for removal.

Q] How do I prevent my coin from being delisted or getting the warning?

b1) If you are on the development team or foundation of a blockchain, tell us about what is happening with it. Be proactive. We love to know that the risks we took in adding you to the exchange were worth it.

If you do nothing, you can't show anything.

And if I were Bittrex and I came in here and I see that there has been no development in what? 6 months? Why would I allow that coin to be in my market?

And yeah I can't define what I can't see Wink

Anyone already contacted Bittrex staff? I am on my business trip with extremely limited internet access & time and cannot re-act instantly. Anyway I will mail them tomorrow to find out what had happened.

p.sp.s what other exchange is this on yobit? try send some coins there the price is 1000x inflated as they are on a fork or something bitrex is the only one

Nope, Yobit is not the only one. 8BIT is listed also at Cryptopia, which is more solid exchange. Cryptopia seems to be in full sync, with 25 connections and at block 946759.

P.S. A tip related to orphan issues: I noticed that having more RAM helps to stay on the right chain. With more RAM the wallet is able to handle the orphans, reconnect the blocks when trying to return to the right chain  and so correct itself. You can add more swap space instead of RAM too (4-8GB should be ok).

Yup. I bought a few 8bit from cryptopia last night. They seem to be on the same chain as Bittrex. So you could add both bittrex and cryptopia as a node and should be safe to download the chain.

great news atleast there is some hope to stay exchangable then.
even starting the qt with -dbcache=1600 has not helped sync issue for me sticks at block 931082 and orphans away. has anyone got the wallet version 2.0.0 source or qt i want to see if it is a problem with ver 2.0.1 (none mandatory update)

as it stands my win 7 machine refuses even to set up the system to build and i am going to have to set up a linux box which i can work with but not nativly.

This is probably what caused the chain to split. Anyways, thanks for the wallet link. Bout to download it and bring another node online. If I can get it compiled for my raspberry pi, i'll bring a couple more online and try to help out.

right guys i don't know whether you would like a new thread started with the revival of this coin or continue here? so for the time being check your addresses here

block explorer
http://explorer.8-bit.ga/
the block explorer is on the same chain as bitrex as i have been able to send coins between them and my wallet which i have not managed to sync yet so it gives me hope.

before you start if you can access a wallet that shows your 8BIT address go into the console and type
Code:
dumpprivkey (wallet address of active wallet)

this has to be done from the address you wish to recover. keep this safe as this is your only way to recover a lost or corrupted .dat file.

MAKE SURE TO BACK UP ANY WALLET.DATS THAT CONTAIN COINS ONLY EVER COPY THIS FILE DO NOT EVER PUT THIS BACK INTO YOUR WALLET FOLDER AS ONCE CORRUPTED THERE IS NO GOING BACK, MAKE SURE TO GET YOUR PRIV KEY BEFORE STARTING THIS PROCESS AS I MYSELF LOST SOME COINS TO A CORRUPTED.DAT BY SWAPPING BETWEEN BLOCK FILES SOME HOW. BUT AFTER USING THE BLOCKS FROM BELOW AND IMPORTING THE PRIV KEY MY BALANCE SHOWS FINE!

download your blocks from here they are 11 days behind at the date of writing this

block source (for now updated block data to come.)

www.8-bit.ga/STATIC-ASSETS/blocks.tgz

then once downloaded move file to your %appdata% roaming\8bit or wallet.dat location of your choice

after this use 7 zip to extract it will create a folder called blocks.

this then has a file in it which you need to extract with 7zip again to create the database blks.dat and txlevel folders.

copy these and if your wallet is clean just copy paste if not delete the highlighted files from the folder and copy contents across.

rename your original wallet.dat to something like walletolddonotdelete.dat keep the .dat at the end as if you use .bak it corrupst and its game over.

now you have the latest blocks in your wallet and the latest wallet files its time to open it up let it sync. keep checking the blk0001.dat for size changes if it keeps getting bigger you are accepting blocks :-)

if it stops for any reason or hangs then check the debug file scroll to the bottom

this is a good start

this not so good. (reasons for sync problems)

if this happens all i can say is repeat above process as it seems to throw random orphan collections and cannot sort through the chaff and regain sync.

i am currently back to collecting orphans from the network apparently this is something to do with using wron databases for wallet compiles and my guess is rolling out a none mandatory update that should have been mandatory anywho onwards from here hope there are some active members still i am currently trying to get a fully synced block source from bitrex themselves as they are the only exchange i know to be on the same chain as the block explorer page where as i believe yobit to be on a fork or such little volume sales the price is just off whack!!

suggestions guys stay here or move to another page and ask for this to be locked and archived?
i am happy to try help as a community member with some coding background (netcoin)

Been unable to download the Windows wallet for a couple days now. Anyone have a link to it somewhere? Sure would appreciate it. Apparently dropbox has a bandwith limit. Who knew?

wallet link on previous page somewhere its 8bit 2.1.0 raw sync takes months. bootstrap from 8bitga is slow use the block data from there not here. here is a fork not on the block explorer chain. its blocks.tar 7zip it blocks.taz or what ever then 7zip its called blocks and you drop contents into your 8bit folder

good luck i was 3 days behind sync then spewed orphans. restarted now im 10 days spewing orphans in debug lel

Huh, good question. But it fits well being asked in Bittrex thread or Bittrex slack. Bittrex is making some strange and disappointing moves. Very rude of them to delist coins without giving a reason and contacting the community first.

In their TOS they put it very clear: no development = possible delisting
when wllets wont sync due to orphan tx its a bit of a no brainer its going to go.

Well, 8bit constantly had syncing problems for the last few years, and Bittrex didn't care much. Now the network is much stronger than it used to be before. My wallet was working perfectly lately. Bittrex' wallet was working well too, without any single issue for the last month. There should be another reason behind this, maybe personal. Bittrex always had direct communication channel with the dev, all discussions being done behind the scenes, with little info available here.

As much as I like Bittrex over many other exchanges, I hate its recent silent unconditional delisting policy.

In any case, Bittrex is not the only exchange for this coin, so 8bit may survive without Bittrex IF (a really BIG IF) the developer is indeed doing something. From the other hand, we have lost the community here, which was the strongest aspect of this coin before Undecided

this is more than a sync problem when a qt gets locked up due to orphans its a pain. people disbing out forked chains. even then it may not be forked. bitrex are very bust and congested with coins nd users which delisting coins gives more space. i liked this coin and its ideas but dev 1 ran and new dev did nothing literally nothing. no new wallet no wnewworking downloads. just copied the od devs stuff and gave out a dodgey bootstrap. willl have a look thru wallet code todtoniday see if anything can be done.

In fact, this coin was doing better than ever before. We just gotta get it listed on a few other exchanges.
