It's true that there are people in this world who still don't know anything about the crypto world (or they just pretend to be unknown / prefer not to use crypto over fiat). It's an opportunity for you though to make them understand about BTC because that will bring in more people adopt crypto faster as it's word of mouth advertising that can change anything in this world.

Honestly I think it's kind of odd that you demanded payment in bitcoin, as if there is anywhere in the world that accepts bitcoin as primary payment.  I think at this point the majority of people have heard of bitcoin, but most still have no idea how it actually works.

I had two clients from America I want offer graphics designing jobs for, I demanded my payment would be in BitcoinBTC or Ethereum. To my greatest dismay, they were dumfounded on what Bitcoin or Ethereum is. I am still suprised up to this very moment. Cheesy Roll Eyes
Not just Americans many people still don’t know what bitcoin is or what cryptocurrency are. We are still young mate and we can’t force anyone to use or to study bitcoin let’s the time tell them what to do. If they don’t know cryptocurrency yet, then you can introduce it to them or just simply accept fiat money for your services.

Bitcoin is still growing, it takes time and I know your clients will surely start wondering what bitcoin is and I hope that attract them to adopt bitcoin as well. We are not yet their but we are slowly aiming for it.

10 years time is indeed still young and we do need more years to give space in talks of adoption. We shouldnt rush yet everything would really come in line but we shouldnt really expect

that  we would able to see a full-scale adoption since we know that we do have different governments worldwide. Some might or might not accept crypto or totally ban them.

So there are really people who wont really have the chance on knowing on whats crypto is all about.

Though we have the online adds but can't deny that many we're still ignorant for Bitcoin or for crypto. I believe they heard it or they even read it online but that it gives no interest for them either as their government never allows it and their establishment ain't to accept this as a mode of payment. What makes sense for them to know about it since it is still useless for them?

We need more time, years, or another decade to fully develop crypto and being spread globally. This time, we are at a few percentages who know about it and even use it for payment.

In this case, you have a great opportunity to create a more interesting relationship with your employers and to become a teacher for them yourself.
Introduce them to Bitcoin, maybe this will interest them, and they will be grateful to you, because you will expand their boundaries, which means that this can be the beginning of a good long-term cooperation between you. Even if not, you will serve for the benefit of mass adaptation of Bitcoin.

Ain't surprised at all. Bitcoin is more than a decade old, so it's still very young. Just like barter turned to precious metals, then to physical coins and paper bills, it took a long while for the world to adopt them.

Less than 1% of the entire Mother Earth are adopting Bitcoin, altcoins and blockchain technology. Same here in the Philippines, where I think less than 0.1% of the entire population are advocating and using Bitcoin. We were just fortunate to be the early adopters of Bitcoin, so we'll just keep spreading the word about the real and positive use cases of Bitcoin in our respective areas.

It's not surprising at all. Not just in America but also in different countries. High percent of the population still not aware about bitcoin and they are not that interested on how it can be use as payment options and/or an investment.
Agreed. I actually think that Russians are the highest percentage if we compare the population divided by the number of crypto users because almost all the ICOs are russian mostly and it gives me a feeling like Russians are way ahead of others in terms of blockchain technology and crypto adoption.

As long as it is not fully welcomed and accepted by the government and banks, people are hesitant to use bitcoin as well. Maybe some know about bitcoin but they prefer fiat money for transactions.

And at the end of the day a daily wages guy wants to get paid by a payment processor such that he can easily cash his money and feed their family so yes unless it is just smooth to transact bitcoins for fiat and vice-versa there would always be obstacles with complete BTC adoption and that is where the government knows they just need to reject bitcoins and never appreciate dealings in bitcoins.

Not only America but also all over the world. About 700 crore people live in the world, there are a very few people who know about cryptocurrency. another thing is there are many people who know about crypto but they do not believe on it. You know the use of cryptocurrencies is much higher in developed countries like USA/China. Most freelancing or outsourcing payments are made through Digital currency or Crypto, so those who do outsourcing are usually familiar with all types of online currencies. It is really surprising that the guy does not know about BTC.  Undecided

I think it's pretty common among folks who don't have a touch with Technology. Moreover thing is the number of people knowing BTC in states would be much higher than that of other countries which are developing so you can easily realize how less number of people know about cryptos. But this is for any other Technological Concept. Some girls I know don't even know what a RAM is and why should they look for higher RAM while buying a Mobile Phone or any other gadget. Cryptos similarly is a technological invention and not financial.

Your clients does not represent the whole America so how come that you conclude about this by just your clients does not know about Bitcoin or ethereum?

But i think there are many americans already Knew about Bitcoin but of course like the whole world there are smaller amount compared to those who have ideas.

But lets see couple years from now,Maybe your client will already have idea what this is and how convenient using crypto as payment.
The sample space might be low as per the OP but if you look at various surveys conducted by many different websites you would realize that most of the people don't know about it. I would be quite astonished if even 50% of the folks in the state know about Bitcoin.

not, be surprised if in the United States there are still many who do not know Bitcoin, in my country the same fate, especially in remote areas.

America still has a very remote area that is hidden a lot of people do not know the village, namely: Supai Village, this is a Native American.
Not half-hearted if you go to the village of Supai, you must use transportation such as donkey or horse riding.

In the village of Supai the people there have not been touched by crypto currencies such as Bitcoin, maybe friends you know the native people of Supai who have just come to the city of the United States, so naturally he doesn't know Bitcoin yet, I think he needs someone who knows Bitcoin, for him to learn.

Such is life, this might have shocked you about the US numbers of participation but remember this; there are billions of ignorant individuals on the planet earth, they don't believe in things from the Internet but words from their government. Some are loyal addicts, they can't or won't follow anything aside their government pronouncements. This might be a scenario of what's happening in the US.

Haha, you shouldn't be surprised man, it is only natural that a lot of people from a lot of countries specially people from the us don't know about crypto currencies. Main reason would be because it isn't mainstream yet which makes it not something that people will most likely talk about or recommend thus the information are limited so as the people who have heard of it. The only thing surprising about this is that the people you are talking about should be very familiar with computers and all. I wonder of they really haven't heard about it or are just acting ng dumb coz they do not like and trust enough crypto currencies. Just saying.

Some prefer fiat because of government regulations, if they accept some crypto they can have problems. It shouldn't be a surprise that some people don't know anything about crypto, but when it comes to graphic designers it's a bit strange they did not encounter any crypto in last 10 years, on crypto adds...
There's no doubt we are still in early stages, many more people will have to join crypto, and even more important we need more companies and institutions to join. No need to rush it, we have a good direction, we need to be patient and to continue promoting crypto to people around.

I am surprised that you're surprised. It's not like Bitcoin was taught in school books, nor is it posted on every wall outside or every ad on the internet. It's like you're asking someone, "Why don't you know this game?" when they aren't even a gamer. If they were along the lines of developer/businessman, you can be half surprised since both have the chance of actually chancing upon Bitcoin. Besides, even the majority of the people who know about Bitcoin only know the word, they don't even know what it is.
He has every right to be surprised despite the fact that bitcoin was posted on every wall ads but bitcoin/blockchain are already among the brochure of some school in the US and it also easy for someone that gives graphic designer, dev, etc job online to know every mode of payment used online, so it normal for them to be surprised when his customers from the US said they are not an award of bitcoin.

Don't be dumfounded mate, there thousands of millions who have not hear about Bitcoin nor ethereum till now because they are too lazy to read some few pages of the news papers or even online news sites. Americans are also like any other country around the world, in my country, there are individuals who haven't still understand the Bitcoin of a thing. But with time, they will have full knowledge about this technology(Bitcoin and Ethereum).

I don't live in the USA so I don't know what degree of publicity bitcoin has there, and I don't know if the surveys I read are true or not but according to the surveys in 2019 they asked 5000 Americans and 64.8% of the respondents said they did not have bitcoin and did not plan to buy Bitcoin... Knowing that in the USA there are millions of people so we can imagine that there must still be millions of people in the USA who do not know about bitcoin, especially people over 50 years of age
