Well for me i would like to add some other things as well :

1. Sports betting helped me socialize with my friends, getting more intune with everything and it's generally amazing when we all sit down at our houses watching the tournaments together. So it not only gives me a chance to engage with people more but also in a positive way.

2. First time I Gambled on sites using bitcoins I lost a lot but eventually you get a hang of a thing, you become good at it, which applies to games, cards, most of the things that you could have missed out but you didn't therefore I do think it helps you polish and gain new skills as well. As long as you are not overdoing it ofcourse.

In small amounts it's a sports that can make you happy and provide thrill every once in a while but in huge amounts it can be super addictive ofc.

These are just assumptions and they are not back by studies I Google if I can find any articles that can back up this analysis coming from a reputable author I find this article coming from

An author who is a professor of corporate strategy and policy at the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University.

and he posted
Quote
Decision-making might involve the nature of gambling, however, decision-makers are knowledgeable risk managers and rarely are they impulsive gamblers.

There are positive results if the gambler is not a compulsive gambler and he analyzes the situation like a responsible gambler.

I also feel the same way, my mentality has been formed since playing gambling, I prefer to analyze something before deciding to put money in a bet, for example when there is a football match that will take place then I will quickly try to analyze the possible final results that might be created. by seeing the latest news about the team.

Gambling is not always bad, maybe you will lose money but your mental and thinking will wake up as long as you don't become a gambling addict.

If you think about it, it means that I feel that life is like a gamble, determining our fate based on the decisions we make. Then decide between forward or backward. In terms of gambling, they are also often faced with large bets or withdraw and do not enter the betting contest. But the fact is that we miss something that can make life more profitable than other people.

On the other hand, if we retreat, our condition will not develop. Like you roll the dice to determine fate. This custom reminds me of the ancient Japanese samurai tradition of determining one's fate by rolling the dice. There are two choices of odd numbers or even numbers.

Good findings. The problem though is that only a few people and few gamblers apply the skills unconsciously developed by gambling in their real life scenarios. If a lot of them would implement those skills in their real life scenarios surely we would see much more successful people than we already know.

Still though a good topic and most probably I would make this one sticky here if I were a moderator so that many other gamblers can see this and keep those skills in mind and try to apply them in different real life scenarios.

I think these rules/findings that were posted can be applied not just in gambling, but to real life as well.

Though I was about to comment that these 'findings' imply that people should gamble more, the disclaimer clears such ambiguity that these should be applied to gamblers who see themselves as doing it for long-term.

Having a positive mindset in gambling may be relatively difficult to overcome especially if the person is experiencing a consistent loss. While I agree with these findings, I think it is noteworthy to mention about the development of self-control is essential in order for the person to know when to stop.

Like every other thing in life, Gambling gas it's own good and bad sides and you just highlighted some of its good sides and I can personally related to some if not all of the positive behavioral attributes that comes with gambling. In my time as a gambler — I've learned to quickly let things losses go while preparing myself for what's to come and had it worked so far? Yes. This has helped me in other endeavors too including:

  • Trading
  • DeFi + Crypto degen activities.

Gambling is not all-bad like people make it sound. There's actually some good that comes with it.

Development of risk-taking ability.
That development can cause you to risk big money in the long term, but you never know the result for yourself. But if that is in the other fields or jobs, you will get good results.

Development of the ability to quickly let go of things and move on.
It is good to forget your losses yesterday so you do not feel weighed because of thinking about the losses. It could make you an easy-going think that gambling is just part of the entertainment and you will know what you should react.

Positive mentality.
Actually, it is good to have that positive mentality, but if you believe that you will get your luck and win some money when you gamble every day. That could be right, but it needs more things for the gamblers, such as controlling himself, managing his wager and funds, etc.

Consistency/Not quitting attitude.
If you can be consistent with what you are doing, you can reach your goals, but related to gambling, I am not sure if you can get that because you still face two options which are win or lose. It is better to be consistent in the jobs than in gambling because you will see the consequences.

-Development of Risk taking ability; to win big in life, you must be willing to try, and gamblers have so developed their risk taking ability.

-Development of the ability to quickly let go of things and move on; Dwelling on the past and the possibility of "what could have been" is really not healthy and it can weigh you down and distract you from "what can be". Though not so easy, gamblers have developed this ability to easily look ahead from the "near win" of yesterday, to try again today.

-Positive mentality (that is always believing that everyday we gamble, it may just be our lucky day for the big win).

- Consistency/ Not quiting attitude; Always trying regardless of  previous results.
I am seeing all these four characteristics are same or interlinked at least and if you develop these then you may keep on gambling without quitting among losing all your money and reputation. These skills may be useful and might guide you outside the gambling world but definitely not for a gambler. A gambler should be fearful about losses and should not move on a loss but should work on what went out of hand and must work on how to avoid similar losses.

Overall, if you gamble occasionally and you develop these skills then you are fine to go. But, if you keep on gambling and developing these skills and habits then you may never quit gambling and may hit the extreme of gambling addiction which is a situation I pray to God not to happen even for my foe.

I particularly like the first points and on reflection I think I have developed these traits
and only since I came to the gambling board. While I wouldnt be a big gambler
and only playing with an initial pot of 1mbtc I am able to keep my gambling in check,
assess the risk and if a bet doesnt work out, move on constructively while staying
positive and assessing the next risk.

Two more I could add:

Moderation - like almost everything in life we should moderate our activity and
balance that with other tasks and hobbies.

Patience - everyone in the crypto (Bitcoin) space should be well versed in
practising patience and realising it all doesnt have to happen today.

If we can create a balance between all these positive traits and habits it should only
lead to positive results.

- Consistency/ Not quiting attitude; Always trying regardless of  previous results.
I think this is not a positive mentality for me, I guess we have to be realistic all the time.

If a gambler will not quit regardless of the previous result, I find it not helpful because what if you keep losing and you still have not learned or improved, continuing will only result in losing more money, and worst you'll become homeless. In gambling, the reason why I said we have to be realistic because this is not for everyone, in fact most people are losing money, without control it will only result to a bad future.

Learning how to quit is very important.

~

This is a dubious thesis. I have not heard of professional athletes who became champions because they took a lot of risks. Or the builders who built a tall building due to the increased risk  Grin All these theses are very "subtle" and are applicable in rare situations, to understand their applicability you need to have a systematic approach - I doubt that gambling contributes to this.

Should we even consider consistency as a positive attitude when it comes to gambling? Yeap, I'd agree on consistency, at its core is something pretty good, it makes us keep trying and trying again because we refuse to accept the results, but considering the context, I don't think it should be counted. Though I guess if we could put that attitude to something else, even if it was together with gambling, then I'd reckon it's a pretty worth it trade? Though ig the same could be said for the others, the idea is pretty good but with context, I'd reckon it isn't really nice? I mean if you consider replacing the context of gambling with idk, murder maybe? It'd look pretty obvious how bad it is.

From self evaluation and the evaluation of a few gamblers around me, i have observed that over time due to gambling activity, some characters worthy of emulation have been unconsciously developed by some.

Some of the characters that i have observed from the life of a few core gamblers around me and myself are;

If you see yourself as a gambler, i implore you to put yourself in perspective and please share any positive trait that has been developed in your life as a result of gambling.

PS: The purpose of this discussion is not in any way to encourage you to gamble more, but a pointer to show that amidst the dark clouds, there is still a silver lining.
In my opinion, you did careful research on the positive effects that gamblers had, but even so, the negative effects of gambling in my opinion are even greater from positive efek, and of course we all have often discussed these negative things here, and for point number 2 I slightly disagree with you, because in my opinion it is not a positive thing because it actually triggers gamblers to like to dream more to win and in the end this is what triggers someone to become addicted to gambling in my opinion.

Interesting,
I, and I believe most here, only see problems related to gambling, never thought to thing that this could somehow develop some positive quality in human beings.
Of course, for this, we need to have a lot of self-control and know how to use the game as an entertainment tool and not an income one, done that no matter if you win or lose, with each play you can learn something new that can be applied to your own game and why not in real life!?

Your observations are very good.

This is a good summary of positive things we can learn from gambling. It's nice to focus not always on the bad things and the risk involved in gambling. We all know about the problems of gambling addiction. For me there are quite a lot of similarities between gambling and trading. In both cases risk management is very important, there are always opportunities to make money, but we need to minimise our risks. Only if we protect us from going broke can we build up profits over time.
The same goes for managing our emotions. Both in gambling and trading do we need to keep our expectations on check. Only focusing on the potential money we can earn, will limit our point of view. Like you said, cutting our losses and moving on is very important. For that we should remain open minded. If we learn these skills in gambling and can apply them later in trading, we can take away the best things in these worlds. Learning to evaluate and live with risks is important for many things in life.
