PS: The purpose of this discussion is not in any way to encourage you to gamble more, but a pointer to show that amidst the dark clouds, there is still a silver lining.
Sounds more like "amidst the dark cloud" you are looking for an excuse to make yourself feel better for gambling.
-Development of Risk taking ability; to win big in life, you must be willing to try, and gamblers have so developed their risk taking ability.
It's true that to win big in life, we must try. If we fail, we must keep on trying. Now try that while. The exact opposite will happen. If you keep on trying to win big, you will end up with nothing. So yeah... not the best way to compare real life situation with gambling.
-Development of the ability to quickly let go of things and move on; Dwelling on the past and the possibility of "what could have been" is really not healthy and it can weigh you down and distract you from "what can be". Though not so easy, gamblers have developed this ability to easily look ahead from the "near win" of yesterday, to try again today
This means they haven't moved on from "what could have been". They are trying again today because of what they could have won last time, and this is what makes them an addict and they end of losing everything.
-Positive mentality (that is always believing that everyday we gamble, it may just be our lucky day for the big win).
- Consistency/ Not quiting attitude; Always trying regardless of previous results.
These are exactly what messes them up. Their "positive mentality" is what ruins their life while gambling. They don't think about what's going to happen when they lose, they think about the profit only. If they thought about the losses, they would stop when thing starts to go too far.
