Absolutely, your experience echoes the sentiment of many who've ventured into the vast landscape of altcoins. The crypto space is highly volatile, and while some altcoins offer promising technologies or use-cases, many don't stand the test of time. BTC and Ethereum have consistently proven their value and resilience in the market, acting as safe havens for many investors.
true. Actually that was my personal point of view and anyone could disagree according to their personality and logic. Here LUNA, FTX, Celsius were top coins but people lost their saving who were involving with those. although i don't suggest anyone to buy only btc and eth and ingore everything, just need to be careful before taking any investment step. But if anyone want to have safe, security, assurance for investment then btc eth are best option although profit could be gain a little from those. Although 3-4x isn't bad.

That being said, for those who do their research and are willing to accept the risks, there can be potential rewards in exploring altcoins. However, it's essential to be prepared for the volatility and to not invest more than one is willing to lose. Diversification, solid research, and risk management are key.

What is the point of these usage proposals if there is no infrastructure where these proposals and solutions can be used? Many developers offer nothing at all but words. In most cases, all these offers and technological solutions are just a screen. It is a bait to catch investors who will be ready to be inspired by these sweet promises and buy another shitcoin that is designed solely for speculation.

I did invest in lots of altcoins and i received many tokens from bounties as reward. I experienced that, most of the tokens turns into shitcoin or dead after a few months.
I also have a lot of bounty tokens or airdrops that are currently still in wallets, which after I checked almost 90℅ are shit coina. Luckily they are only rewards so I'm not so sad. But indeed, I have participated in the Binance launchpad 3x, and all three, I am always late to take profits and for now don't ask, the price is very disappointing. ha ha.. I learned a lot from this that investing in altcoins is really a higher risk than Bitcoin. Except for certain altcoins, I personally will increase the allocation to invest only in Bitcoin. Enough with investing in altcoins, especially shitcoins.

In my opinion, Altcoins, Memecoins, and Shitcoins are not suitable for long-term investment. They are suitable for speculation and making profits within a short period only.

I tried many Memecoins and Shitcoins, some of which I had good luck with and made some profits, and others where I lost large sums of money.

So for now I decided to only invest in Bitcoin.
I can agree for meme coins and shitcoins because all of them have no great utility but they are only created for the purpose of pumping and dumping. While most of them are a complete scam. Altcoins on the other hand are a mixture of legit and useful cryptos, then there are also scam and cryptos who are not performing well. Obviously a legit and useful altcoin can also work better for the long term apart from Bitcoin.

If we want to earn a profit at a quicker period of time, we can use these cryptos as well. That way, we can only lose small if we are unlucky that something bad happen to our actions/transactions or we won't lose at all but just gain a benefit.

Yes, there is no way you will invest in Bitcoin and Ethereum you will not smile in the future when their price increase, because whenever the price of Bitcoin is increasing in the market, Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies price will be changing positively also to cause investors to experience bull. I have loss a lot of money on memecoins and shitcoins that made me to return back to Bitcoin and Ethereum investment, because the profits you will make from Bitcoin and Ethereum investment when you apply long holding, it will take you many years before you can earn half of that profits from memecoins and shitcoins, and it will make you to feel bad when you don't achieve what you want at the moment.

In the past years, the forum had several discussions about bounties rewards. Many participants shared their bad experiences with it and you are also experiencing the same. Not to wonder why the situation goes like this and it is because these developers create useless projects. Of course, nobody dared to invest in them which made it fail and have no market value as it was not even listed to an exchanger. So even if you are receiving rewards, still useless as you can't sell them.
Many coins have been distributed in bounties but they ended up with major losses and never recovered their ico price. But why is the OP investing in altcoins more when Bitcoin is right in front of their plate. The reason is that the prospective profits that could come in case the altcoin goes up in a high numbers is huge. But this hope is wrongly placed in my opinion when they can be safer with bitcoin purchases at low price and held for long.

Memecoins and shitcoins are all same, useless over the long term and only bring in problems and losses for the investors. They are never going to help the long term game.

Some Altcoins performed very good for a certain time then all of those lost 90-95% of values and still traded on exchange with so called volume. Thus process is continued. Even top altcoins also replaced by new altcoins. 2017 vs 2023.

Moral: I think BTC and ETHEREUM is better option for investment, Can be trusted blindly, profitable for long. Low Ranked Altcoins, Memecoins and shitcoins are just headache and reason of huge losses in long time. But anyone can invest his money wherever they want.
You can never compare Bitcoin with altcoins. Even Ethereum is an altcoin though it's trusted and has a good reputation because it has been around for quite some time and has never faced a lot of issues with its price and stuff apart from the high fees from time to time. However, for diversification purposes, traders will have to look for good alternative coins that they can at least use for short-term trading if they don't want to keep them for the long-term.

And there are a lot of coins in the market that can provide good profits in the short or medium term since they are always fluctuating and don't crash easily, though there is no guarantee of an altcoin project becoming dust in no time as we have seen that happening in the past, with LUNA and many others.

Do you know what, this will not be the last of it, more shitcoins will come and more gullible people will invest in it, not that they are not wise; they are but they are not smart because the only thing they are after is the next 100X without understanding of what they are buying, how it work, the tokenomics and coins distribution, the circulating supply, the total supply and when to exit the market. It's funny how some people always fall for the "market will continue to pump forever'', you should know when to exit the market.

No coin is a 100% decent to invest, it really depends on when you enter the market, some altcoins are down by 80% and yet, there are couple of seed and public investors that are not in loss; not in loss in the sense that their capital is not rubbish(not yet) and if you look at the BTC and ETH that you think are the best, there are people that are already with negative value in what they bough because they bought mid way to the top and they are stuck with what they buy, so in addition to your moral, time is also of the essense.

Don't forget to also sell when you make enough unrealized profits already, some of the bounties are best sold as you receive them, they are reward in your value of the task that you carried out and not to be kept as investment, so you don't blame anyone about that; It was your decision to keep it after some thought and they died along the way, I hope lesson learned and get ready for another bull run that is coming soon.

I agree Bitcoin is the main deal. Besides, it is what gave birth to the rest of the altcoins. But you've to agree with me that most of the altcoins are hot regardless of this bearish market and still stand a chance to get a hold. Talking about Xrp, when it comes to memecoins, I think Pepe still has a stand and people are trading it regardless.

Memecoins and shitcoins are just headache and reason of huge losses in long time.
This is true but some of them might be gems like what happened with shiba inu and pepe coin, many people gained a lot of profit. Though some didn't, it's simply because they sold it too early and I personally know someone who did and regret it. I don't usually invest into memecoin and shitcoins, since I mainly focus on investing my money in good altcoin like ethereum, and binance coin. I always invest in those good altcoins cause it has lower risk unlike investing in memecoins and shitcoins where it has more tendency to rug.

But of course, just like what you've said, if you want assurance and are looking for a long-term investment, obviously Bitcoin and Ethereum are one of the top choices for that.
Both coins you mentioned are still meme coins, although some people managed to take advantage of the hype, which created a great earning opportunity. Certainly, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and BNB, along with a few other altcoins, are better for long-term investment, but altcoins create gaps that you can take advantage of. For instance, the newly listed coin on Binance, CyberConnect, provided the ability to farm it for 30 days with a decent APY ranging between 15% and 20%. Yesterday, it was on a massive rally, achieving an over 80% increase in value, while throughout the week its price had already doubled. This was a great earning opportunity for any traders who managed to sell at its peak. Personally, I sold at $16.10, and it crashed shortly after. I didn't have a lot of coins, but just like that, I managed to significantly multiply a few dollars worth of coins.

There are some good altcoins to be fair but they are rare and eventually, you will gonna land some of the shitcoins if you keep the traditional way of investing in them where you just blindly follow promoters on Youtube and other social media. The best thing to do when you don't seem to find the right altcoin to invest your money with, it's better to be safe and put your money in bitcoins while waiting, you are guaranteed not to lose your capital and have some opportunity to increase or up double the amount of your capital.
But if we are just investing in Ethereum among altcoins (aside from having Bitcoin), I believe we are safe. The most important thing that must do is that we are able to know how to hold because it doesn't matter if we are holding BTC or ETH if we are impatient as certainly, we lose in the end. The winning strategy in crypto investment is to choose the right coins and be able to sell them at the right time. But very unfortunate that many investors are weak and easily panic upon hearing FUDs and when seeing price correction.
also having good entry significantly increase your odd of winning your investment, you can be all patient as you want but if you have really good entry like you are literally investing when the price peaked then you're pretty much messed up and need to wait for another bullrun to come and that with a big if the coin itself could reach its previous all time high.

so what it means in this case is that, you also need a good strategy to determine which time you should be investing, then you can make an entry meanwhile also be ready to wait for quite long time considering that bullrun might not be coming until 2024 and even 2025.
but i'd say that ethereum investment couldn't go wrong.

I think that there are many here like you who invested in altcoins and received tokens from the bounty in which they worked for projects that failed or turned into scams, and the tokens become worthless; indeed, there are new altcoins that have succeeded and jumped to the top 100 positions in the market, and this indicates that we should not put our investment in some particular altcoins. The oldest altcoins for me, if until their positions in the market are replaced by other new altcoins, with the increase in their volumes and the occurrence of any positives in the price of Bitcoin, they will return as they were, there is a small percentage of probability that the oldest altcoins in the market will turn into shitcoins unless any catastrophe happens. I undoubtedly agree that Bitcoin and Ethereum are the best in the market and the safest options for long-term investment, but this does not prevent that there are many other altcoins that deserve long-term investment but any investor needs to take his time to conduct his research, and staying away from meme coins or low-ranked altcoins because they undoubtedly, as OP mentioned, they will cause considerable losses in the future as they are, of course, not safe investment options.

Firstly, bitcoin is not an altcoin and looking at your title I think it cannot be used as a discussion because bitcoin is not an altcoin. However I do agree when saying bitcoin is the investment to make when in the crypto space as it is a viable first choice.

As for the other thing I agree because currently there are a lot of altcoins or tokens that eventually become damaged and only become ashes but I think we are already aware that things like this keep repeating and indeed the point we can take is to learn from mistakes.
So taking that into account I think for altcoins only big projects are still feasible like ETH or Bnb. But if you really don't want to divide too much in altcoins then bitcoin is the most appropriate solution.

actually investing in small coins is a way for us to go to real investment, namely investing in btc and eth.  I also have some coins from the bounty program I'm in.  when it can be sold, then I sell it and I use it for daily expenses and if the results I get are rather big, then I invest in btc or eth
Well there are investors who prefer small altcoins than mainstream ones. Downside is high rate of market price voaltility unlike with big names of this industry. On the same manner, it generates higher risk. I do also invest to some but more of a short term investment on these coins 'coz I find it nore profitable than with my other assets being held and some planned to be held for a period of time to generate more.

There are many altcoins to choose from but to choose the best for everyone's habit of investment. So far I made huge from altcoin investment, higher than with other projects. Unfortunately, most of the newly listed ones are being a problem when it comes with actual holding and endurance of this ons.

The two types of coins at the top, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, are indeed the right choice for long-term investment, so far no one has been able to shift their position.  Many believe that the two coins are the top choice as alternative potential investment assets for the future.
Regarding new projects, of course they will always appear all the time, the main goal is so that the Tokens they launch can compete with each other and become an alternative choice for investors.  However, many tokens produced from bounties only last for a short time so they are easily abandoned by investors.
It is likely that one of the main factors regarding the trading volume of related tokens continues to decline due to the absence of support from large capital owners to be able to maintain trading volume, so they can easily become worthless in a short time.

Over the course of the last seven years, I've acquired a wealth of knowledge through my engagement in bounties and the subsequent rewards I've earned from them and many other altcoins buys and sells. It's worth noting that most cryptocurrencies tend to have a short lifespan once they're listed, so I would recommend that as soon as you secure a favorable price, you consider selling and reallocating your assets into Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Binance Coin (BNB) to adopt a more secure investment strategy.
