I like the idea of colored coins. However, it seems we would be beta testing colored coins with our shares. Is this a good idea? What if there is a bug? How will this get fixed. Is this a good idea to be beta testing with shares?

Colored coins are just as good as any other coins.  There are no bugs dude, that's just racist.

Ha, no racism. Just curious. Colored coins it is!

I also vote Coloured coins - beta or not they sound like they will be a significant aspect of the future of btc and so longterm they have far more potential to serve us than an exchange in HK. I'm sure most people know HK is under Chinese rule now so if the crackdown/slowdown continues the Chinese SEC could close CT down.

Colored Coins... that way if all goes to shit I can at least claim to have some of the first shares ever distributed in a decentralized manner using colored coins.

Decentralized solution that is in beta vs. a repeat of GLBSE/BTCT/Bitfunder/etc.

I feel more secure with the former, personally.

The divide is not about decentralization vs centralization. The divide is about shitty non-stocks that operate on shitty non-exchanges as opposed to actual businesses that trade on a real exchange. So long as what you've got is a bucket of failure, it will fail no matter what sort of wrapping you try to put on it.

Losing coins sucks. Continuing to hold onto your buckets of bullshit after the ineptitude of the operator has been amply demonstrated is nothing short of retarded. And in clutching your bullshit in an attempt to believe for another day that you didn't make a wretched, screaming, ugly mistake, you're adding to the mountains of shilly, uninformed but over-enthusiastic bullshit new people have to wade through in order to reach a single sentence of sense. You're not just screwing yourselves, you're slowing the progress of newcomers.

Learn some responsibility ffs.

Weekly Update 1/15/2013

Here in San Jose working with our partners to move our projects down the line.  The RTL problem has been solved and I will be releasing more information about this over the next month.  I will also over the next month be releasing the timeline on our chips as the information becomes available to us.

Kenneth E. Slaughter, CEO/CTO
Active Mining Corporation
Virtual Mining Corporation

The RTL problem has been solved - Good Job!

I will be releasing more information about this over the next month - More information about what exactly? The RLT problem, well it's solved now so I don't think it matters too much. How about some other information instead. Hire an accountant and get them to do a company audit maybe?

I will also over the next month be releasing the timeline on our chips as the information becomes available to us - I wonder what is available to you now and what is not. Estimated Processing Power/power consumption?

Can we get an update about exactly what has hashing in november, my curiosity has peaked.

I wonder if being first might give us a bit of publicity as well.

We would first beta test on Bitcoin's testnet network, nothing to lose.

Ken, any chance we can have Crypto Trade enabled soon? Also will it be easy to move our shares off of Crypto Trade once coloured coins are mature?

After I get back to Springfield, enabling the shares on Crypto Trade will be on the top of my list.  Everyone will understand this after some future updates.  Mostly likely investors will need to make a choice now (Crypto-Trade or Colored Coins).  We won't have the man power or time to move the shares later from Crypto-Trade to Colored Coins or the other way around.

Thanks for replying Ken.

If each investor has to choose now to either go with CC or CT I will put myself in the coloured coin group. Long term it's the right solution and being the only shareholder on CT does not sound very attractive.

Looking forward to some timeline Ken. Smiley

Thanks!

It's not like shares will just evaporate into thin air.

The best way to get CC going is to fire up and start working with it, LEARN it.

I like the disruptive/pioneering push into the traditional stock market... The biggest racket on Earth.

Repost from yesterday for those who may have missed it buried in the fud.  Personally I will also be opting for Colored Coins....

I contacted killerstorm of Coloured Coins/Chroma Wallet to see if I could get some information regarding their progress and here's what I have.

I'm an ActiveMining shareholder and understand that the CEO, Ken Slaughter is very interested in CC as a long term solution to the lack of a viable trading platform.

I know.

In terms of your development, are you able to give an idea when you think your project will be ready for adoption?

End of January.

If it's too soon for that are you in a position to briefly outline what obstacles need to be overcome prior to full release?

Currently ChromaWallet implements only "order-based coloring" (OBC) coloring scheme, which isn't good.

There are multiple proposals of coloring schemes which fix problems with OBC, but we're trying to find one which would be 'perfect', and there is a disagreement on what it would look like. Perhaps we can just implement one which will be good enough, and that would be it.

Otherwise, we're working on following things, but they aren't really obstacles:

1. make sure that it works without local bitcoind/Bitcoin-Qt
2. finding unspent outputs in a separate thread
3. p2ptrade needs some fixes and improvements
4. handling of additional asset issues
5. better asset definition format

I'm not sure ActiveMining needs all of these features, perhaps we can make an intermediate release with fewer features if there is a need for it.

Many thanks for your in depth reply killerstorm.  That's excellent news. Very much appreciated.  Would you be happy for me to post this on the ActiveMining thread?

Sure. In addition, I'll be glad to help to set this up (i.e. scripts for migration from old platform, instructions, etc).

Why not both?  Grin

Realistically it's one or the other.

Ken clearly says why it can't be both Milky, read his post again.

Prediction - Ken decided to move from NExtreme to Easiccopy.

Why? Chip costs were too high, efficiency was too low, and Ken saw a major fallout as a result and made a hard decision.

If this is the case, I will jizz my pants because it's awesome... but pure speculation.

I think Vince gets 'Man on the match' for this!  Wink

"easicopy ASIC provides OEMs with a seamless path from a eASIC Nextreme or Nextreme-2 NEW ASIC to a, cell-based, easicopy ASIC thereby enabling OEMs to further reduce device cost and power consumption, or increase performance."

If this speculation turns out to be accurate then people are going to quickly change their views and this thread will finally start to see the back of the detractors.  It would explain EVERYTHING.

Thanks for those links knybe, will have a read.

Hello Ken,

I appreciate you taking the time to post your weekly updates, especially during the holidays.

I just was wondering if you could give me an estimate on the completion of the Crypto-Trade transfer.

...

Thank you

You should see an announcement soon.

At least he is taking the time to respond to PMs, as well as living up to his responses.

For what it is worth, I vote for a colored coins implementation as well.

Godspeed, Ken.

Even if this all goes to zero, it was worth it to me for the sheer education of it all. I say the same thing to myself about Bitcoin in general.
