Make sure you make this as complicated as possible.

It sounds like everyone has a personal choice in either CC or CT, no sense arguing about what the company should offer us...
If it will be possible to send colored coins to exchanges in the future, I would be leaning towards CC

Ken, would it be possible to have shares split between the two?

I had not thought about that.  I will give that some thought.

i vote for crypto trade. colored coins are an unproven concept with a tool that hasn't even been proven to work and is in development. i would not like to handle money with such a tool.

We will not transfer the shares to colored coins until it is proven.  There will be a beta on the Bitcoin testnet.

Personally I'd rather direct shares than coloured coins - too new, too untested.

+1
If we are going with CC, regard this:
Person X buys shares for 100 BTC, but due to some yet unknown bug in the shiny new CC system the coins are lost.
Who is the support? Will the user get his coins back, or replenished by the issuer?

As a developer myself I do not feel to comfortable with being beta tester with real coins and shares.

I agree. Lets have some other companies beta test this. We should do Crypto Trade and further down the line when Ken has the resources, if CC proves to be reliable then we can consider the switch. No reason to be innovative with our shares.

Colored Coins... that way if all goes to shit I can at least claim to have some of the first shares ever distributed in a decentralized manner using colored coins.

I like the idea of colored coins. However, it seems we would be beta testing colored coins with our shares. Is this a good idea? What if there is a bug? How will this get fixed. Is this a good idea to be beta testing with shares?

Decentralized solution that is in beta vs. a repeat of GLBSE/BTCT/Bitfunder/etc.

I feel more secure with the former, personally.

The divide is not about decentralization vs centralization. The divide is about shitty non-stocks that operate on shitty non-exchanges as opposed to actual businesses that trade on a real exchange. So long as what you've got is a bucket of failure, it will fail no matter what sort of wrapping you try to put on it.

Losing coins sucks. Continuing to hold onto your buckets of bullshit after the ineptitude of the operator has been amply demonstrated is nothing short of retarded. And in clutching your bullshit in an attempt to believe for another day that you didn't make a wretched, screaming, ugly mistake, you're adding to the mountains of shilly, uninformed but over-enthusiastic bullshit new people have to wade through in order to reach a single sentence of sense. You're not just screwing yourselves, you're slowing the progress of newcomers.

Learn some responsibility ffs.

Yes, I agree that there are some overly-enthusiastic people here. However, do you suggest bag-holders just give up? Why would the ability to trade shares be a negative thing, regardless of what you hold?

Also, if you really wanted to give good advice to 'newcomers,' here it is: BTC appreciates just fine on its own. No need to invest it in anything. This includes paying the 30 BTC fee to use MPEx (although, to be fair, you can get around this fee by using a broker)

Note: I'm quoting you because I like to read opposing viewpoints (and yes everyone has special interests/biases). I believe this is to be the greatest strength to this community (unlike the hive-mind that is Reddit, ugh).

I too am feeling very optimistic Vince.  What a roller coaster though!  I'm figuring that it'll be no coincidence to  see the knowledge vacuum replaced around the same time we are able to trade shares again. Edit:  perhaps the CT delay occurred so that CC would release at the same time? It's almost as if someone has been sticking to a plan.  Either way it's looking like we are in for some very interesting updates in the next few weeks.

Weekly Update 1/15/2013

Here in San Jose working with our partners to move our projects down the line.  The RTL problem has been solved and I will be releasing more information about this over the next month.  I will also over the next month be releasing the timeline on our chips as the information becomes available to us.

Kenneth E. Slaughter, CEO/CTO
Active Mining Corporation
Virtual Mining Corporation

Prediction - Ken decided to move from NExtreme to Easiccopy.

Why? Chip costs were too high, efficiency was too low, and Ken saw a major fallout as a result and made a hard decision.

If this is the case, I will jizz my pants because it's awesome... but pure speculation.

I think Vince gets 'Man on the match' for this!  Wink

"easicopy ASIC provides OEMs with a seamless path from a eASIC Nextreme or Nextreme-2 NEW ASIC to a, cell-based, easicopy ASIC thereby enabling OEMs to further reduce device cost and power consumption, or increase performance."

If this speculation turns out to be accurate then people are going to quickly change their views and this thread will finally start to see the back of the detractors.  It would explain EVERYTHING.

Thanks for those links knybe, will have a read.

Dude I'm so bullish right now...

That's all fine but you won't get much respect when you appear from nowhere and launch into a tirade of foul mouthed abuse and offend people the way you did.

I like your writing style as well, it's a shame you started the way you did as you really won't achieve your purpose because of this.

Look, not saying you're evil or anything, I actually find some of your points to be valid. Just saying you have a financial incentive to post on here and bash anything that is not MPEX, and then plug it as well. I've seen it in the CasinoBitcoin thread, this one, and others. Nothing new.

I am paid to review these forums and post sense. Sometimes that means introducing people to MPEx, or announcing a service therein. Sometimes that means pointing out to people that they're not making sense, meeting standards, or whathaveyou. This is frequently met with hostility, as people do not like confronting their own mistakes. Often enough, the point has to be ground into the very earth.

It'd be fantastic if the former sorts of posts were all I had to do. Given the state of this place, and the shocking levels of idiocy particularly in securities, it's simply not the case.

Repost from yesterday for those who may have missed it buried in the fud.  Personally I will also be opting for Colored Coins....

I contacted killerstorm of Coloured Coins/Chroma Wallet to see if I could get some information regarding their progress and here's what I have.

If you're going to recommend people ignore/disregard someone, it helps to not quote them or to at least -snip- out the quote

True. Edited.

Yes, let's pretend that ideas that don't support our idiocy necessarily stem from evil. Just 'cause you're married to your trench doesn't mean newer and less idiotic people are inclined to be, as well.

While we're at it, let's burn all the books and pluck the stars from the sky, that none shall shine more brightly nor record themselves more clearly than Manny. And fuck bitcoin altogether, Manny shall simply edit out of the world that which doesn't tolerate his stupidity.

Except we're not a fantasy playing out in your head, this is life, and this is bitcoin, and it doesn't give one whit for your preference of comfort over truth. If you can't handle that, the answer is to dick around with table top games for a while or whatever, not to vainly attempt to squelch me.

EDIT: Last post I'm gonna make in regards to you, but btw you never answered my question in the CasinoBitcoin thread (What HTML5 Roulette game do you think is best). PM me your answer if you have one.

RE-EDIT: You should write books by the way, I like your writing style. Fiction of course!  Wink

Disregard MPOE-PR, she literally gets paid to troll on threads and plug MPEX.
