to make it simple, say:-

i took screenshots as prove, etc.

then some person steals my screenshots on computer and signs a new generated bitcoin address with username and share number as seen on screenshot.

ken, how would you verify and stop such person, if this happens in reality?  how would you check the public bitcoin address? public asset list is not accurate and changes.

example , you might not have took a record of public asset list when X person transfered and his address vanished from asset list,  then you took a record of asset list,  how would you verify with that?

You just aren't getting it… A screenshot doesn't mean anything. Your public bitcoin address is already PUBLIC (do a search for it here and you'll see it: https://bitfunder.com/assetlist). AND nobody can claim your shares with only a screen shot of said address and shares if you are the sole controller and signer of your public bitcoin address.

Your public bitcoin address should be only UNDER YOUR CONTROL and an address that you can SIGN to verify that it's really yours (i.e. blockchain.info or better yet and offline wallet like Bitcoin-Qt)

edit: assume you did all correct and signed with correct address

i know that. but how would ken check if public address is correct,  the transaction only shows username, shares, timestamp, no public address.

if you say ken will obtain different asset list, other then public asset list, then all is good,  becuase i heard the latter (public asset list)

You can't trade transferred shares obviously.

The asset list he will obtain will be after the trading is frozen.

Only a signature from the asset list can be used to validate ownership (Make sure you are using a valid address on bitfunder)

Asset list is here https://bitfunder.com/assetlist

Screenshots are only part of the safety measure, signing is the ultimate form of safety.

not talking about trade, but if in example, the person stole the screenshot can claim the shares with new bitcoin address, while believing ken only relies on public asset list to check the address, but is not accurate.

ok you said ken will obtain asset list after asset is frozen?
i have not heard that from ken, if so that will be far better security then public asset list he told me.

so that asset list you speak of will hold hard links between username and public address?
if so, that will calm me, superb. and there wont be a way for Mr.X person to steal or make use of stolen screenshot

dude really?

how do you verify the public bitcoin address truely is associated with bitfunder username, other then the bitcoin address signing.

what happens if a user uses different bitcoin address then his public bitcoin address, and signs it? and asset list wont longer show his public address

asset list is not enough, becuase some people buy or sell or transfer, so asset list changes

Can anyone inform me if Ken has officially announced what to do with our shares on bitfunder?

I know he has an exchange in the works but with the looming Nov 1 deadline I need to get my bitfunder shares out ASAP!

Posts from Ken: https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/kslaughter-1707

Thanks, tendered to AMC-TENDER - feels very worrisome but I trust ken.

Are there any other precautions I should take.  I have set up my bitfunder with a bitcoin address that I control and can sign from.

EDIT:  And just to be absolutely sure, is this the address that is important?

yes that's the one. that address shows on this public list: https://bitfunder.com/assetlist, prior to tendering your shares

EDIT:
I also PM'd Ken the transfer timestamp, my public bitcoin address and number of shares…

Yes, everyone should have a public bitcoin address that they can sign.

Also keep a full screenshot showing your bitfunder username, and the transfer transaction of the transfer to AMC-TENDER.

This is your proof of the number of shares transferred.

We may need you to send a message from that public bitcoin address with the details of your transfer at a future time.

Please don't PM your transfer information.

At this time all shareholders should follow the procedure for transferring shares to AMC-TENDER.

OK guys, get to it. You have a week to tender - all BF holders.

Announcement

Due to Bitfunder closing down, we are extending the deadline to transfer shares to AMC-TENDER until November 13th, 2013.

At this time all shareholders should follow the procedure for transferring shares to AMC-TENDER.

Dividends which are due to be paid tomorrow will be suspended until we have the share problem solved.

We will be creating Pass-Through shares on a yet undetermined exchange for our shareholders.

After the Pass-Through is created, we will pay the suspended dividends.

Put me back on ignore please and stop inciting panic where calm heads are called for.

shhhh… truth hurts.

question: if you've been told that BitFunder is closing AND you've previously been asked to push your shares to AMC-TENDER… than why haven't you?

-BitFunder users are encouraged to transfer their shares from the BitFunder site to the respective issuer(s) no later than December 1, 2013.

knybe, you are being overly dramatic - well over 3weeks before the site closes, and when it does close shares are auto-tended to the issuer.

granted yes, but let's get off of all these exchanges and get to a better - less centralized solution. the sooner the better for share price and liquidity.

Also knybe - Ken said on here yesterday (or the day before) that BF holders will get divs verified OR non-verified.

So there is still no direct need to panic-tender to Ken, we need to see what his announcement is first.

EDIT
- sumzero and knybe break it up, no need for that, shake and make up. I command you.

Just transferred my shares to AMC-TENDER. I hope to end my Bitfunder experience soon. Why on earth did I even bother to get my WeExchange account verified.  :-(

Does anybody know if I can somehow delete the documents and data that are unfortunately stored at WeExchange right know?

I'm in the same boat and want these digital copies destroyed.

I submitted a ticket on WeExchange to get this data deleted. Let's see what they reply.

I did the same. I hope Ukyo follows trough.

You are confused and I am certainly not going to clarify things for you with that attitude.

Please do not make posts like this again, it helps no-one, "After yesterday's announcement, if you're still on BF, please consider getting everything out today for gods sake.".

for god sakes man (woman?) do not tell me or VE or anyone on this board what to do…. You come off like a spoiled child.

end of discussion.

I'm assuming you just want your shares to be given to Ken by Ukyo on December 2nd since that is what will happen.

If so then yes you do not need to Tender your shares as they will be Tendered for you.
