The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every hour.

The new membergroup limits work like this:
GroupRequirement
Brand New0 posts
Newbie(none)
Jr. Memberactivity: 30
Memberactivity: 60
Full Memberactivity: 120
Sr. Memberactivity: 240
Hero Memberactivity: 480

I'm not 100% sure that the membergroups work correctly. Tell me if you see any bugs.

Kind of annoying cause i have posted 30 plus posts and im still newbie

It's not post that matters, it is activity. Your activity is 14, so it should be 30 by 4 weeks, then you will become Jr. member. Smiley Good Luck!

P.S. Check https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/til-activity-does-not-work-on-precisely-2-week-intervals-interval-timings-582736 for timings! Smiley

I have 30+ post and only 14 activit Huh dunno exact how this work

You will get 14 activity per 2 weeks interval if you post 14 posts. No matter how many you post, you will only get 14 activity per 2 weeks interval.

No need for that, spammers get banned, and often get negative feedback as well.

on the typical forums yes, but i frequent the Alt Section, which for for the most part has no moderation, there is just too much traffic and not enough mods to do the "banning".

I doubt mods really read ALL the feedback, it's just too much i think. Increasing the number of mods has been suggested, but unfortunately, most of the candidates have ulterior motives.

Adding a tag wouldn't do anything for this issue, since tags are added by us. If we're looking into a user enough to add a tag we'd just ban them.

Alt currencies will probably get a moderator, though likely from the current pool of staff (should eliminate concerns of ulterior motives which is a strong possibility when considering "outside" candidates). I was against it at first for various reasons I don't really want to talk about, but overall it's probably better to have one.

quite right, i've resorted to self-moderated topics now, better to mod my own areas of interest. Yeah, the alt section used to be fun but now it's a mess. with the clones, it stopped being hilarious a long while back.

I rarely (if ever), go to that section of the forum. There is way too much to sift through before finding anything worthwhile in my opinion. I have seen some good ideas every know and then, but it is too much work reading it all

SO true, that entire sub forum needs a team of mods if it's going to in anyway resemble the rest of the forum. From spammers to scammers and completely pointless posts it's just awful. There is total anarchy (has pros and cons) which now results in most people just avoiding it altogether.

The max at the moment is Hero member wonder if the admins and mods will consider adding a higher level?

They already have (Legendary). It comes sometime before 1000 activity (slightly randomized for each user).

Would be nice to have the number of legendary, Hero ect. members and a list of them

Yes you are right! Is it applied manually by Theymos or is there any algorithm behind it for random choosing?
Actually, this is a very interesting question. I too wonder.

It's an algorithm.

Scroll back to post 595 in this thread and you'll find:

Currently this randomness is done with a single SQL query, which is very convenient.

Code:
update smf_members set ID_POST_GROUP=21 where ID_POST_GROUP=8 and
activity>=775 and activity>=775+conv(substr(sha1(concat(ID_MEMBER,
secretSeed)), 1, 2), 16, 10);

if it already went up by 14 in the current 2 week period, you have to wait until the next period starts and the current one ends. so if you made 28 posts now basically you gained the 14 activity, then when the next period starts you will instantly gain another 14 activity. that is the most basic way i can explain it, but u only go up 14 activity per 2 week period.

Wrong.

You can try it yourself. Just don't make any post after Sept 2 09:26:40 GMT, and no matter how much time you wait, your activity won't go up automatically.
