This was just a tactics gone wrong. I'm sure the coach had te thought of him playing fron the center would enable him to coordinate other players and to drive a sense of focus from the wings and defenders to feed him @M. Salah with enough balls to cause some real damage but that was far from it wit the Nigerian team. They ensure the balls weren't coming neither was he given enough chance to express himself on the pitch. Its a good one for the Nigerian team and thanks to Kelechi Iheanacho for that early goal that sealed the game up. This was a much anticipated win.
Yea I think you are right. Nigeria has the quality to successfully execute such a plan and to leave as the victor from the game. They are now one of the favorites to win the cup.

Meanwhile the other game (Sudan - Guinea) also ended without any goal... I really hope for all the spectators that we will get to see some goals soon  Roll Eyes

Today we see Ivory Coast for the first time. But "only" against Eq. Guinea. This looks like a sure win, but they will need to score at least a goal  Wink
The other two matches of Group F are a bit more low-key but could turn out to be exciting as they are completely open (Tunisia vs Mali and Mauretania vs Gambia).

I think the problem with Egypt is; they aren't as solid as the other teams, yeah they've Mo Salah, but they aren't even using him in his best position. Seems to be played predominately as a center forward, which don't get me wrong he's suited to it, but playing on the right instead of the center suits him better, because he loves to cut in.

Mo Salah on the other hand had a very quiet game. Egypt didn't plan this game well entirely because they were poor but kudus to the boys for the win, on to the next game.
Mo Salah is just one man out of 11 players, a tree cannot make a forest. The Egyptian midfield was no good and it showed as enough balls couldn't get through for Salah, he had only one clear opportunity to shoot. Also i think the Egyptians coach tactics didn't quite match his style of play. For me the only other player that had my attention was Ahmed Sayed Zizo, he threatened the Nigerian defence on the flanks. Against Guinea Bissau, the Egyptian side will need to fix all their shortcomings and go all out for the win to keep their AFCON dreams alive.
I really felt pity for Mo salah. The coach got his tactics wrong by playing salah false 9. He was absent and the reason behind is wrong placement. He isn't going to get that flair to move if you play him as a central striker. The coach should know better and use him as a winger, else nothing will get better for him he's got no chance because he had energetic and strong defenders that play a very combated and brutal way of football so they cut off all supply. Had the coach field salah on the wing, he would cause more havoc, because they would have shifted focus to him and that would have made them lose concentration and then he would have done his magics. Also the midfield was so poor, they could not feed him with passes.

This performance was outstanding., Nigeria ate Egypt. I can safely conclude that you can have the Best player in  the World in Salah but it's not quite enough if at least 2-3 more players on your team aren't half as good. The midfield with the duo Ndidi and Aribo, with a great Simon on the left side and total domination on the whole game, this Nigerian team were really no underdogs they are quite the serious threat indeed.

Nigeria played better from first half to second half of the game.
Ndidi refusal to go off , when the medical team attended to him,was the number one moment for me  Grin
Those are home based players, I wasn't expecting iwobi to be in the first 11.

Seriously, take a look at his highlight I bet most of the highlight reels will show him cutting in, and taking a shot or passing with his left. He's been largely ineffective when Liverpool have played him as center forward, and we have better delivery than Egypt does.

We've not seen a match filled with lots of goals ever since the nations cup had started this year,, apart from Egypt and Nigeria match, Sudan and Guinea Bissau match was the only match that I've seen interesting so far, unlike other matches that they were just playing the ball through the air from goal post to goal post, hopefully the tournament gets more interesting as it goes way to the final

This tournament is so boring that we only saw 1 goal in 3 matches. All teams are just defending and are really poor in attack especially the weaker teams. I expected low amount of goals in this tournament but this is just really really low amount of goals and quality

Congratulations Nigeria, although I have problems with the nonchalant attitude of the African football sometimes but today's match was great, and it was even better when Nigeria came out winners, I think people are blaming Mo Salah too much there was nothing be could do the Nigerian defense was solid today and he is only but one person, once again congratulations to my country hope there repeat the same thing in the next match this Time with more goals

Got all the right results betting and prediction-wise, but I should have listened to instincts and not glory-betting. 1-0 wins all around, typical of the qualifier stages really if I remember, low-scoring, no BTTS and under 2.5s the way to go, and we're actually still in group stage where we should be seeing teams taking more risks.

Hope Algeria break that mould, because they're the heavy favourites tomorrow.

Surprisingly, Algeria drew, and even without goals scored. Hardly anyone could have expected such a result. In general, the beginning of the tournament is rather depressing - only 9 goals were scored in eight games. It can be assumed that this is some kind of pattern. I wonder if in the remaining matches to place bets everywhere on BTTS No, will it be profitable in the end? It seems that yes.

Congratulations to nigeria, the victory was not a surprise though  I see nigeria and Egypt as a strong team and I know it will be a struggle that may end up with a draw or a goal difference of 1. It was a great performance from nigeria

Nigeria played very progressively although they did not dominate possession on the pitch, they recorded 15 shots and 5 shots on goal. This defeat against Nigeria should be a trigger for Egypt to play with a lot of attacking. In the next match they will face Guinea-Bissau and Sudan in the third match, I have high hopes to see Egypt play to the final.
Nigeria played well in the first half and deserve to score that goal and could have score more goals even in the second half,  M.Sallah was well marked by the Nigerian defender he was kept quite almost throughout the match except in some few occasion, though not an aggressive threat, I think we should watch out for this Nigerian team they will go far in this competition based on today's performance and provided that they are consistent with there performance.

Nigeria won the match few seconds ago. K. Iheanacho scored, assisted by Joe Aribo.

That wasn't a satisfying win and I was surprised since the coach and players were celebrating it like it was a final (actually the match was as boring as a final). Kelechi Iheanacho was missing chances and it was so annoying. His first touches were bad expect for that particular one which he got the goal with, that was phenomenal (the touch and final).

Praising to Moses Simon, he was giving us some Neymar vibes with his skills, he was very present in the first half as it was his play that lead to the goal. Mo Salah on the other hand had a very quiet game. Egypt didn't plan this game well entirely because they were poor but kudus to the boys for the win, on to the next game.

omg, what an utter disappointment, it ended 0-0. Algeria was seen as one of the top favorites to win the tournament, yet somehow they managed to lose points against Sierra Leone. I suppose they still will make it to the next round without much trouble but this result did come as a big surprise for me  Shocked
Just as underdog can win a match, this is not surprising me, but I though Algeria would be the one to win but it ended draw. It has been long since Sierra Leone has appeared here, probably they have more potential to play.

Nigeria - Egypt (very balanced top game, could as well be a game in the final round, I think the teams will be careful not to lose, I would guess a draw like 1-1 or not more than 1 goal difference)

Been waiting for this fixture since, to see how Nigeria will contain Egypt, and so far i can say that i'm not disappointed with Nigeria, the team seem to be having the advantage against Egypt, Great strike from Senior man Kelechi! Good we have a goal before the half time. I still see Nigeria as favourite for this competition. If we win this game, i can imagine the momentum against other teams, this game is important for the confidence of the team, dominating a strong team like Egypt in their first fixture in this group game is good for this competition.

I seriously was expecting Senegal to be in front in terms of goals by now with the likes of Mane in play, Zimbabwe seem to be holding them down properly, the Zimbabwean team simply need to be more bold and take the defence of the Senegalese side head on, take chances, their safe hand Mendy is not in play, goals should be able to come. In front of goal, Senegal has not really impressed, they have wasted too many opportunities, if they don't win they will definitely regret.
Penalty was played at 90+7 minutes, if not because of that, I believe a lot of people would have lost their bet because we all predicted Senegal to win Zimbabwe easily but which was not.

From yesterday's fixtures, we saw enough goals, i hope today's fixtures are not short of excitement and expectations.
African inter countries do not score much goals as usual, but it was really surprising that all the goals in the four matches were all 1-0, no 2 scored.

Senegal 1 - 0 Zimbabwe

Morroco 1 - 0 Ghana
So far in today's matches was a lone goal galore and narrow wins an indication of tight defence in all the teams that played today while the winning teams took there chances, I hope the last match between Comoros vs Gabon will not follow the trend because the two teams are not that formidable, it's likely that both sides will score many goals but quite difficult to predict the actual winner between the two countries.

Comoros - Gabon 0:1
Ethiopia - Cape Verde 0:1

In total, 5 out of 6 matches ended 1-0. Interesting statistics and it is difficult for me to explain such a weak performance of the teams. It seems that the weather conditions are good and nothing prevents the teams from showing a good game. Given the fact that there are clear outsiders in the groups, I expected to see the results of matches with 4-5 goals scored.
