Gambia won Mauritania with 1 goal to nothing.

it seems that the lack of many goals is something normal in this tournament, there are already 12 games and we have less than 13 goals, this is very sad and regrettable, the quality level of the teams is very low, the way they play is irritating, I particularly can't watch the games completely because I get annoyed with this low quality of game
Yea my thoughts exactly. Football (soccer) doesn't require many goals in general to provide a good game, but constant 1-0s or 0-0s make a pretty boring tournament. I hope the quality of games will improve now that all the teams have concluded their first game and hopefully some of the initial nervousness has gone and the teams are better organized now.

We've watched several African Cup of Nations group stage matches this season and this is indeed very unexpected where these teams only managed to win by a one goal margin or at least draw 0-0 making the match not interesting at all for us.enjoy especially as a connoisseur of African football, even though they managed to score a goal in the early minutes but the score did not change until the game ended where the advantage remained with the score with a margin of 1 goal and nothing more than that maybe they played more carefully and survive a little considering this is a crucial match that they play in every meeting

It surprised me that Nigeria won against Egypt. I am not underestimating the Nigerian team. But I thought the Egyptian team was more stable. Because they have one of the best strikers, Salah. He is an aeome player. Having such a good player, Egypt has also been defeated. They made only 4 shots in this match.
Of course, Salah is a very brilliant player when he plays for Liverpool, he stands out as one of the best players in the world in that respect, but the same cannot be said of him when he plays for Egypt, and one can easily understand why, the quality in the Liverpool side is by far better than that of the Egyptian national side, and thus there's always bound to be disparity in his respective performances for the two sides.

Obviously the Liverpool team cannot be compared with the Egyptian team. The Liverpool team is much stronger. At the same time the team is very stable. There are many talented players in the team. But Salah is the most important player in the Liverpool team. The team is largely dependent on him. Maybe the Egyptian squad is not strong. Yet in yesterday's match I expected better gameplay from Salah. But Salah could not play well. The Egyptian team needs overall development. The more they need to strengthen the midfield.

Mauritania   0-1   Gambia

The Gambia won against Mauritania. But throughout the match, we saw the dominance of Mauritania's players well. The Mauritania strong team is not saying that. However, they played well in this match. Gambia played defensively after scoring and their goal was to win the match 1-0.

Equatorial Guinea   0-1   Ivory Coast

I watched the Ivory Coast team play as a kid. But day by day their game has deteriorated. Ivory Coast played well against Equatorial Guinea. Ivory Coast won. My guess is that Ivory Coast will finish the first round by becoming the champions of Group E. Hope they will be again more stronger.

Unfortunately this competition is unprofessionaly organized from many sides. Most of the stadiums are not good to play so the players can't really perform good game play. Today we saw the arbitrage in the match of tunisia vs mali the referee stopped the game at 85 minutes of the official time before he released that he did a mistake he continued the game and again stopped it again at 89 minutes.
The referee in question was previously suspended for corruption and match fixing a few years ago.  So the fact he was allowed to officiate in Africa's biggest tournament, and then blatantly fixes a game, speaks volumes about the level of corruption in African football. Makes the tournament look like an absolute joke. CAF made a good decision to suspend him. How can he drag the credibility of the competition in the mud like this. To be honest I personally think this is why the Afcon isn’t taken seriously. The standard of officiating is terrible and ruined the game. They have got some amazing players in that tournament playing but the standard of officiating over shadows it for me.

What I do not always like about football matches in Africa which is still better in North Africa countries but not better at all in Black African countries is the quality of the matches video, it is always poor. About goals, Africa countries do not score many goals if they are playing with each other but this time around is very different, no two goals scored in a single match and only just 12 goals in 13 matches since, the matches will be very boring to watch.

Shallow excuses after they have won already ?
Who ever wins deserves to win, the African Cup of Nations has not seen a fixture play more than two goals, do you find it boring ?
Ivory Coast played good, scoring from an early period, I be thinking they'll probably be the first to to score more than two goals.
If I will not have to repeat myself, I do not watch all the matches but if the one I watched with just a single goal is very boring, likely the remaining ones are also boring.

I was unable to watch Tunisia vs Mali and also I was unable to check the livescore during in-play until the match ended with Mali that won Tunisia 1 goal scored by Ibrahima Kone at 48th minute.

The match was in Cameron and there was panic as gunshots rock the Cameroon city hosting Mali, Tunisia and others. Maybe because of this, the match Tunisia versus Mali ended at 89th minutes but won by Mali. I hope there won't be a replay.

Gambia won Mauritania with 1 goal to nothing.
It has nothing to do with what's going on outside of the field, whether it was gunshots or fireworks. It is all related to a shameful referees decisions, preparation of the game and so on.
In Nigeria - Egypt game, they changed the ball three times... Even kids check the ball before playing in the street but a grown bunch of what they called referees are too lazy to do that? They have one job literally!
Now for the Tunisia - Mali shameful game of the decade, referees literally killed the game, slowed it down, very weak decisions and hesitation, you have the feeling that VAR referees are too drunk to concentrate on a damn obvious penalty and it took like 5 minutes to take the decision to check the VAR and play the penalty?
The main referee watch wasn't fixed in advance and it most likely was like +7 minutes the time we have but hey no one of the other referees warned him? Worst they were supporting his decision to stop the game prematurely twice!
Even worse they took the "decision" to continue playing after 40 minutes from the end of the game??? What's the hell is that? Is that a game or a joke?
We all know how corrupt African football is but hell they are proving it to the world without doing a minimum effort to hide it... Not only this but they are proving to everyone how random and easy to wear referee clothes and pretend to be one of them. It is shameful and disgraceful what I witnessed today. I will think twice before watching a whole game. I might follow the result and watch replays seriously until finals Undecided

For my prediction on who gonna be the winner of this cup i will say algeria first because it's my national team. Also it's the only strong team beside nigeria on this whole tournament.

Same. In fact, this is very strange - in most pairs the strengths of the teams are very different and one would expect that we will see many goals, but the performance of the games is extremely low. Maybe if we see unexpected results, if the underdogs are able to knock out the favorites with such a bad game, then they will have a great motivation to play with all their might, as this will be a rare chance for them to win a significant trophy.

Having said that, I believe the Nigerian national team has a better collective squad than the Egyptian team, they have more players in top teams in Europe than players of the Egyptian team, thus I wasn't surprised they got the victory, they were the better team overall in yesterday's encounter and are now in pole position to qualify from that group.

I am enjoying the match of Mauritania vs the Gambia now. The Gambia is leading 1-0 at halftime. I bet on the Gambia. Because I have never seen Mauritania's team's gameplay before. They are doing very well against today's Gambia.

Salah performance in that match was really quite bad, even he was not able to do as he did with Liverpool, but I think it's a natural thing, because Salah certainly hasn't been compact enough with some other Egyptian players because they have little time to practice together, The appearance of a player will certainly have a difference when playing for a club or national team so that Egyptian fans cannot fully blame Salah for the Egyptian defeat, I think maybe in the next few matches Salah will show his greatness with the national team.

We've not seen a match filled with lots of goals ever since the nations cup had started this year,, apart from Egypt and Nigeria match, Sudan and Guinea Bissau match was the only match that I've seen interesting so far, unlike other matches that they were just playing the ball through the air from goal post to goal post, hopefully the tournament gets more interesting as it goes way to the final

don't expect much from this tournament, when I said at the beginning that African soccer is in decline and has reached an extremely low level I was serious, this type of soccer without quality where there are not many goals, where there are many flaws in Var, where there are few opportunities to score and the worst part is the ball is always in the air than on the ground, it looks like they are playing tennis this is what Africa has in soccer quality, don't expect more than that

PS: the corrupt leaders of africa killed soccer in africa

What do you want to say about Manchester United having one of the best sticker in the world which Ronaldo but Manchester United is not performing very well. You can not belittle Nigeria, they have one of the best team in Africa. In a match like that, no one know if Nigeria will be the one to win or Egypt or if the match will end draw. But Nigerian won it.

One player can't do anything if the other players aren't helping, same as CR7 with Portugal, Halland and so on.. There was many critics on the coach of Egypt for his weak decisions and management.. Anyway, Nigeria deserved to win and Egypt still has a good chance to qualify.
Tunisia is playing poorly right now, they even missed a penalty and they are 1 goal behind Mali. The referee is doing a weird job, trying to end the game in the 85th minute Lips sealed

Edit: red card, 8 minutes at least time randomly wasted then the referee ended the game at the 89th minute. He insist to end the game prematurely apparently.. I sometimes regret watching African games!

I agree, in general, I am often surprised when, in a team sport, some claims are addressed to individual players, this is simply ridiculous (if you do not take cases with unaccounted penalties and obvious goalkeeping mistakes). Nigeria is a strong team and in this particular match they won, however, in any case, Nigeria + Egypt will advance from the group to the playoff round. This match means nothing.

I think the problem with Egypt is; they aren't as solid as the other teams, yeah they've Mo Salah, but they aren't even using him in his best position. Seems to be played predominately as a center forward, which don't get me wrong he's suited to it, but playing on the right instead of the center suits him better, because he loves to cut in.

Seriously, take a look at his highlight I bet most of the highlight reels will show him cutting in, and taking a shot or passing with his left. He's been largely ineffective when Liverpool have played him as center forward, and we have better delivery than Egypt does.

Dramatic, and obviously regretful of wasting valuable time watching African games!

90 minutes had not been played when the referee blew the whistle. He ends the game twice before the 90th minute. A red card should be a yellow. There is no stoppage time but a VAR check is conducted. This has been ridiculously poor refereeing. Corrupt officials and match fixing like this are why the AFCON does not receive the respect it deserves. I regret to say, but this is typical of Africa.
