Given the variability of the virus, we must come to terms with the idea that for a couple of years we will feel the effect of the virus on ourselves. The elderly, people with chronic diseases, and socially vulnerable citizens will continue to remain a risk zone. But at the same time, the rest of the population remains at risk of re-infection, and - infection with a new strain of the virus! And until most of the population gets sick with this virus, until immunity is massively developed in people's bodies, the problem will not be solved. Unfortunately.
A lot of people were hopeful that with the progress in vaccination, the pandemic will stop spreading by mid-2021. But that target looks doubtful now. Yesterday I attended a seminar organized by one of the top virologists and he was explaining that the vaccines have an efficacy of only around 25% against the new South African strain. And taking in to account how contagious the Coronavirus is, it may not take much time for this strain to spread to other countries from South Africa. And sadly, this is not going to be the last mutation affecting the Coronavirus. We can expect further mutations that result in many more drug-resistant strains. Feeling skeptical about the future right now.
Unfortunately, my prediction is confirmed ... Therefore, everyone needs to accept this situation, otherwise it will be very difficult. You cannot solve the problem without accepting it. Only by accepting reality will we be able, perhaps, to develop some new principles of life, doing business, before a global change in the situation.
And what do virologists say about the development of a natural "broad" immunity in humans to Covid19 and its strains? Otherwise, it turns out that the effectiveness of vaccines is low, and people will get sick with this disease many times. But on my own I will say (I myself have been ill with Covid19) - I'm not sure that even a healthy and strong body will survive 4-5 infections, with the extreme temperature and intoxication of the body
