I used to have 20% of my crypro portfolio in alts. But I wouldnt invest in altcoins anymore. My altcoins are top20 alts and since the beginning of the recent bitcoin pump the value is melting like crazy.

As a rule of thumb: When bitcoin pumps altcoins are dumped hardcore, on the other hand when bitcoin is on decline , altcoins are dumped hardcore .

Right now im considering to dump my altcoins with heavy loss.

With banks/corps entering the altcoin world, bitcoin is one and only coin to survive, because of its extreme security.

You are right. I notice that a lot of altcoins get dumped no matter what happens to bitcoin. It is very rare that an altcoin will stay never their ATH.
In a few months later, the price will drop to a low level.

I've been reading through this forums for the past few weeks and all I see is "this coin is dead" or "everything is a shit coin". Is there any alt coin with potential to invest in or is it only bitcoin? I don't mean like a few here and there, I mean over 100 coins.

you can buy any alt you want. if your goal is to make profit, then you have to observe all the prices.
there is still a chance to buy and sell with profit.

every coin with a constant trade volume is not dead.
study the price cycles. if you can find periodic ups and downs then buy when the price is low. then wait, wait, wait.

do not make a lot of transfers. if you do this only the exchange will make money.

Is there a chance that altcoins which seem to be dead (like graincoin, frycoin, electriccoin, alphaomegacoin,...) get a second life.
I have some of these coins from about two years ago. That was the start of these coins, but very fast you didn't hear anything more about them.
If you can't find a working wallet at this moment, is there a chance that one day they will be "reborn"?
Or can i delete the backup of the wallet.dat that i have put on a usbstick?

Did you guys learn anything from my "Quantitative Easing" experiment above ?

Funny it was "The" topic to bump and you were all over it.. then ran and hid under your bed LOL

EDIT:
I also could see with my eyes flame by my thumb but it did not show up on the 3 pic's i took.
I lit it up and had to throw my lighter down fast and pull my Android phone out and open the camera quick.
Meanwhile my thumb was getting scorched Sad

But hey if i seen a coin worth investing in then sure what ever.. but i haven't ..all i see is crap !
Still waiting for something worth investing in.

Ethereum (ETH) is interesting. Counterparty (XCP) is super interesting, along with the LTBCoin (Let's Talk Bitcoin Token on the Counterparty System).

In the beginning i had as well all kind of altcoins, maybe 40 or more.
I hoped as well one day the price should go up.
I have been staying away for about half a year, because i had too much work with building a house for my daughter and when i look now, i see that a lot of these coins even don't exist anymore. They seem to be "dead" as people say. Some have stayed, but mostly is the price/btc going down.
I have decided to sell almost all my coins for BTC. I think personally this is the best. I find it too difficult to follow or see when a coin might be good in the future or  not.

There is no definite answer to your question as everyone has different ideas on what makes a good investment. All i can say is to do research and invest in coins in which you see potential, remember just because a coin is feature rich does not mean that it will succeed NXT being a prime example. Personally i am invested heavily in bitcoin, litecoin, peercoin and dogecoin as these tend to follow each other when BTC price increases. They are also some of the oldest altcoins around and have considerable staying power. They are also all in the top ten at coinmarketcap.

Apart from those i am also invested in primecoin, foldingcoin and namecoin. Namecoin and primecoin have great potential if they can be developed further. Foldingcoin uses pow mining to find cures for diseases so my investment in that is more of a donation to miners. I was also invested in dash at one time but after a lot of scam accusations against the devs and my own research i decided to sell as it might be a scam, it's price over the last 3 months has also tanked 40% and that further contributed to my decision to dump dash.

All in all do your research, buy coins, put them away and hope the price goes up. It's all or nothing in the crypto game.

For somewhat slow investment that is not too risky, LiteCoin. For some risky investment but high profit (or high loses), check out Hyper. Smiley.
