If you're going to wait 2-3 years, I would only recommend ETH.
Alternate coins being new and are not yet tested by people will likely succeed or failed and that depends on the team and the community. So if i have to invest in alts, i make sure i will choose alts on the top 30s.
For me im just holding altcoins for only a month or two. Because there might be a chance that it will go to a dump coin. Im just waiting for them to trade to bitcoin,ether or litecoin
I am not prefer you to hold for a ver very long time. You can get profit by trade. Kind of trade that only buy and sell at thr best price of low and high. Because even best or legit token or coin have this pump and dump daysn so better to trade and not hold for 2 years. See how the market moves now. Big pump at december and big dump at Q1 of the year
I took 5 altcoins for a long time. This stellar, tron, XEM, cardano, eos. In my opinion, one of these coins can shoot well.

A good Altcoin to hold for 2-3 years is Litecoin. because what I see the development of Altcoin provides a high enough appeal that makes Litecoin coin grip for the long term is the right choice.
I prefer to invest for a long term earnings in some altcoins that are growing this year. It might took a long time to make your investments grow I am sure that you wont regret that you invest in some altcoins that you may know the future that will take you to the moon. So better try your luck into it and don't hesitate in investing now.
I want to say, to hold bitcoin for up to 3 years is too long and too risky. And it is very difficult to predict the growth of coins, but you want 2-3 years of holding so I suggest you must be good at choosing the right coins to be stored for long periods of time. like, for example, you are saving BTC and ETH because they are potential coins with good developers who charge low prices. In the long run.

But what about the Etherium and the EOS? This is very promising and you can say the main projects that will show a lot of new and I think the growth will be strong.
OMG is a very good option. But look at waves and you will win.

There is no guarantee that the prices will not go down for these coins. But one thing can be sure. These coins will not become worthless even if the market crashes. They will be having some value. Apart from the coins which you had mentioned, I'd like to add XMR, BCH, Stellar, and LTC.

This is a good strategy for those who are willing to spend their life saving for altcoin investment. I would suggest that you go to major alt coins like ETH. It is the safest alt for long term investment because it its dependent on bitcoin so as other altcoins. I would never risk my money to an ICO or coin that was just starting, I will invest on a coin that is already established its name - ETH.

Altcoins for holding is only works if you live in country where crypto trading is legal, holding Altcoins will lead to give you huge profit in future because value may rise in future. There are many projects running which is having proper plan for future development.

Such a long term of 2 or 3 years is certainly very much, that's why I have to approach this issue very seriously, I think that now there are no such projects in which I would be sure for the next 2 years. Therefore, I can not say anything about this.
