I would say that Ripple (xrp) and Stellar (xlm) are two that are worth holding for a few years to say the least. Both are operating in the payments arena; xrp for banks and xlm for individual payments. Both are also dependent on greater adoption to realize higher prices. With confidence, I expect to see both over $100USD in the next 2-3 years.

That great option you will do because after that holding a years you will get more profits because holding is best way to earn a profit even you hold it more than 3 years so just buy more when it's cheap. There is a risk that 80% of them in 2 years will cease to exist

I think that investing for 2-3 years to choose a coin is already quite popular, prospective and relatively stable. Because with new coins, things are not so simple, they can collapse. I advise you to buy the Ethereum and NEO.
Now the whole market is at the bottom. Therefore, you can invest in almost any coin, And in 2-3 years you will get a very good profit.
The best altcoin to hold in the next 2 to 3 year is waves. Because waves has also a smart contract and built in exchanger like etherdelta on ethereum. It means waves platform is all set. If you take a look on coinmarketcap the value of waves is very cheap now. Last year the value of ethereum is very cheap also and they have also almost the same supply. This is only my opinion regarding the best to hold for years trust me
Holding alts for that long is a good idea, but a good research needs to be done. Good ones usually hit 100x in that period of time on average.

Altcoin that has good potential in its price and therefore i think such altcoin looks like having a very good future, and therefore we can expect that if we hold such altcoins for a long time, they will definitely give us an advantage the good one.
Such a large amount of time for altcoins can be dangerous, for one simple reason. I do not think that projects will be able to live so long, so probably it is worth investing and wait until the project will make at least 50%

Looks good, but try to add ETH on your list. Eth might boom in the future. I guess that it will be eths time to shine if eth will continue its growth after it consolidate. I really do hope that eth might reach 3k usd per one. That's a dream come true lol.

I have two altcoins which I intend to hold for that period of time.
They are ethereum and deeponion.
I see great potential on these two coins, I know they will truly be worth something in the years to come.
Especially with DeepOnion because even though it is still on its early development stage, the amount of support it gets from the community is truly astounding.
Added to that is the work being given by the devs in developing the coin.

OK, I understand you and your choice. by the way, I am planning to hold Ethereum for a long time as well as I believe it will start gaining this year. But tell me, how can you wait for 2 or even 3 years?
I think all altcoins which have a practical application can hold 2-3 years. Blockchain is a young technology that is only developing and over time the price of promising projects will only grow.
I really put all my hopes on EOS and Neo. Because of the popularity of the investor community, they are very famous, and they are stable for many years, and everyone says they may start to be higher than the current potential in many years, so these coins are worth a long term investment.
On current market situation I think we can buy any coin from top 10 and make some good money in long term.
I think Ethereum is the right choice, because its value is increasing and activity in the market is also stable. in this year etherium will still be a favorite. 
For me I do like holding ETH. I have noticed it is always second to Bitcoin and the network transactions are also fast. This makes a good characteristic for holding coins. People would love to use coins that are already popular.
Personally, I'm not selling NEO and TheKey for the next year or two. In my opinion, this is a good long-term investment. There are several projects that will show results only in a year. Therefore, it also do not make sense to sell earlier.
