Vertcoin  VTC (I hope)  Litecoin for Sure...

Vertcoin was a good coin. It was the first cryptocurrency to bring Stealth addresses. A truly unique feature, that would've made it interesting for use to preserve privacy in everyday transactions. It is up to this date where each VTC is worth roughly $0.05 USD, but I think that it should be worth more than that due to the features it provides. With this in mind, it could survive for the long term.

Now for Litecoin, it has been one of the oldest altcoins out there. It is one of the strongest altcoins with its current network hashrate. By implementing SegWit into its code, it could serve as a testing ground for Bitcoin once it becomes accepted, as we would have an idea what would happen in BTC with SegWit activated. The recent support from LTC miners into SegWit is a good sign, and tells that Litcoin is far from becoming dead anytime soon.

Nevertheless, time will tell us which altcoin will survive or not in the future. Just my sharing my thoughts.  Grin

For me litecoin, dogecoin  and Eth for sure will survive in the future. Because I beleive these coins will ever be stronger. As day passed by I believe this coins are going to evolve, and anyone will earn profit.

Thanks for your opinion. The coins you've mentioned are very promising with good development and community support. Speaking of Litecoin, it has had strong acceptance from miners for SegWit to go live. If it reaches full consensus, then LTC would be worth more than leading alts like Dash and Ethereum.

Those who have invested into LTC earlier would benefit from the massive price increase, when SegWit gets adopted. In the end, those altcoins which can prove to deliver innovation, constant development, and stability, might be worth holding for the long term.

I have the feeling that as Bitcoin's scaling debate continues, other alts will rise and probably take its place in the future. Just sharing my thoughts.  Grin

In the near future we might expect to see many digital currencies coexisting at the same time. Among its survivors, we might find Dash, Byteball, Pivx, Waves, Nem, Bitshares among others. It is clear that, as long as there is division within the Bitcoin community, it will limit its ability to expand in the long term, as someone just pointed out.

Exactly. Due to the scalability controversy that Bitcoin has been facing, many traders and investors have shifted to other alternative cryptocurrencies which are faster and have better features.

There will exist diversity among the use of cryptocurrencies, which in effect, it is good for Bitcoin itself as it reduces transaction load the less people are using its network. In the end, Bitcoin would remain as a store of value, while altcoin would be used to handle everyday transactions.

If I were to consider investing and holding the most prominent altcoins, that would be Monero, Dash, Ethereum, and Pivx.

In my opinion it may be the dogecoin Because in the current time everyone is facing the problem of the confirmation and high fee but no one have the solution instead to pay high fee and wait for the confirmation .
But here we have the doge which is free to use without any fee , so it may be possible that people will go towards the dogecoin after bitcoin .
Note: this is my opinion I am not saying to use Doge in place of bitcoin , but here use of doge with bitcoin may be a really good solution for our problem of fee system .And can give Profit in future easily .

Yes. Dogecoin is much better to use for micropayments right now, than Bitcoin itself. Its fast transaction speeds allows anyone to send payments almost instantly. Being an inexpensive cryptocurrency, its fees are very low and it may cost you a cent or less to send money in a snap.

Even if Dogecoin is not meant to be used as a store of value, it is a fun cryptocurrency with a lot of potential to become widely used by the masses at some point in the future. Thus, the more Bitcoin gets stuck in its ability to scale, the more people would look out for other alternatives for daily use. Just my opinion.  Smiley

One of the world's leading Bitcoin-powered casinos
Based on what it has been seen among the wide array of altcoins such as development, innovation, and security issues, what altcoins might survive in the future?

In my opinion, I think that the only ones prone to survive would be good old altcoins such as Litecoin and Dogecoin, but I may be wrong.

Nevertheless, I would like to know your opinion about this as well as any altcoin that might be worth holding onto for the long term.  Grin

We will always have some scam coins, this is something that is normal now. Some alt have potential, other dont have anything just fast pump and they end up dead. For bitcoin solution think we will have to wait little longer it will have to be good one, and bitcoin community need to be deciding factor but opinion are divided.

For this solution I dont see any outcome this year.

As long as there is division within the Bitcoin community, it will limit its ability to expand in the long term. With something such important like scalability, users would need to come up with an agreement for the best of Bitcoin, instead of fighting each other and causing disputes. Transaction fees are getting expensive, and if this continues, people will migrate to other cryptocurrency for everyday transactions, as the pioneer cryptocurrency won't be able to handle big transaction load.

Still, if Bitcoin comes at a point where neither SegWit nor BU gets adopted, it would still be used by users as a store of value, rather than a payment processor for everyday transactions. For this, I think that both Bitcoin and Litecoin would make the perfect duo.

As for scam coins, there will always exist in crypto land, but it would be up to yourself to make the right decision with you investment before regretting it. Some of these scam coins can come up useful for making profit, if you take advantage of their price movements during their pumps and dumps. Just my thoughts.  Grin

I think altcoin are riskier than bitcoin if we talk about bitcoin value so I think it's difficult for people to keep interest on altcoin
Also in other side , altcoin value are less than bitcoin , especially when altcoin are often to scam
It is more risky indeed to use altcoins and yet you can win a jackpot if you invest in the right one (the problem is that it's not easy to decide which one will lead to good future). And yet altcoins can draw one's attention in terms of investments. You may take a good and trusted casino and invest in, say, ltc bankroll. It's quite reliable since the casino is good and the bankroll is a lot smaller, thus it might be more profitable. I think casinos actually decide which alts will survive, because they offer gamblers to use and thus need them.

True. There are many altcoins which are scam, and provide little to no value at all. But there are promising altcoins like Ethereum, Monero, and Dash which deliver constant development and have a solid user base.

I tend to prefer to use altcoins for everyday transactions, since they confirm much faster than Bitcoin, and most of them have extremely cheap fees. As for Bitcoin, it can be used as a store of value nowadays, but would not be very ideal for everyday transactions as they take minutes (and sometimes even hours) to confirm. I'm hoping that at least one scalable solution gets approved for Bitcoin to scale and put an end to the high fees that it has now.

Just my opinion.  Smiley

I agree. Cheaper fees and faster confirmation make ETH quite attractive to me from a daily transaction point of view. I made a transfer the other day in ETH and the receiver confirmed within seconds. It was one of the cheapest and fastest transactions I've ever done.

my picks drop to Monero, ETH, Doge and LTC i think these coin have potential to survive in the future but regarding the price i wish more good rather than now especially for Doge i miss this coin could reach again to 100 satoshi

ETH, Doge and LTC have mainstream recognition (which means at some point the NYTimes or the Guardian has done an article on them). Monero hasn't so far, so I don't think it has the potential to survive (the people seeking anonymity are a very small group).

I would choose Ethereum, Monero and Decred as surviving coins. Ethereum and monero are older coins. They both have good marketcap.Decred has good road map and devs are bringing good developments. I think Decred is the  most under valued coin.

That is certainly true. These coins deliver promising features and solid development, so they could be considered as a great long term investment. I like Decred, myself since it is a hybrid PoW/PoS that brings governance features to its shareholders. The staking pools for DCR are really nice.

Also, another coin to consider would be Dash since it has been increasing in price over the last days. I don't know if it's just hype or will it maintain its value over time, but so far it has been making me good profit. Hope that DASH could help spread massive adoption of cryptocurrencies that would help benefit the use of blockchain technology in our everyday lives. Just my opinion.  Grin
