Crypto for the Crypto Throne!

For my mind there few alt which can survive in near future. I think it's monero, ethereum, dash, byteball.
Others crypto or dying (like Doge and Lite) or didn't born (like LISK or Wawes). Maybe there more good coins (NXT, NEM i don't know for sure) but i dint know nothing about them and can't say anything about it.

Based on what it has been seen among the wide array of altcoins such as development, innovation, and security issues, what altcoins might survive in the future?

In my opinion, I think that the only ones prone to survive would be good old altcoins such as Litecoin and Dogecoin, but I may be wrong.

Nevertheless, I would like to know your opinion about this as well as any altcoin that might be worth holding onto for the long term.  Grin

Qtum is what you must look up to as it is bent on addressing some challenges if not all of the two major cryptocurrencies(Bitcoin and ethereum). It has implemented an innovation of fusing the Bitcoin core with ethereum to form the first cryptocurrency with both features and with the competent development team and all I have no doubt about the success of Qtum and I will admonish all to take a look at the white paper and read on slack and Bitcoin talk to get more insight about Qtum.

In order to survive for the long term, coins need to have attributes that BTC lacks, mostly:
A/ faster & bigger blocks than BTC
B/ anonymity features

This is however not enough. They must have also have what BTC has which is:
1/ network consensus
2/ sound monetary creation
3/ idealistic vision

That's why these coins gained recognition
- Ethereum (A)
- Monero (A, B)

Zcash (ZEC) and Zclassic (ZCL) are the last generation of coins that should emerge because they cover A+B, they both however lack 1, and ZEC lacks 3.

Time will tell

I use altcoins but I dont trust them that is why I take it back and forth in bitcoin once in a while. You will never know what could happen. In just a snap everything could lose. I have used too many alts that I know they just come and go. Yes there are a few that stays like ETH, LTC,DOGE and NEM but still this alts, with one wrong event could be out and your funds with it.

You cannot rely too much on them but you could use then while they are still around.

That is certainly true. While many altcoins lack constant development, and support by their community, many of them are unstable and may render your investments into it, rather worthless as they turn out to depreciate over time. In crypto land, there are only a few altcoins which have managed to become useful with promising tech, as well as having active development and support by their communities.

Usually, good old alts like Litecoin, Dogecoin, and Namecoin are ideal for investing as they have managed to remain stable over the years. But if you want to use a cryptocurrency as a store of value, then by all means, Bitcoin would be the ideal choice for long term investments. As Bitcoin comes near towards applying scalable solutions like SegWit and Lightning Network, other alts would follow like Litecoin and Viacoin did.

Nevertheless, it is best to rely most on Bitcoin than any other altcoin, as a store of value. However, if you prefer faster transactions, and convenience then altcoins would be the ideal choice for you. Just my opinion.  Grin

Well putted but seem like old alt are really becoming old. I know that lite and via confirmed sewith implementation still this is not good for them, ok with long terms but i would like to stick with bitcoin in this case. For some short turn investment will try to get on some ICO but first will do research before investing have 50-50 so far success in this and dont want to change any of my habits now.

But think that like you mentioned in last sentence this is what person/user what then he/she will decide what to do.

I think altcoin can survive will be etherum, pesobit, Dogecoin, and Litecoin since they are the coin which I can see no votality or no huge dumps and it doesn't turn into shotcoins. Besides, Dogecoin and Litecoin can be used is some gambling sites like bitsler which is great. I have money of those altcoins and it'll took many months before I would sell it in order to make a better profit.

Long term 50 years Cheesy
Short term 3 years
Just near future <1 year Tongue
maybe some kind like that

LISK or it's mutations

I think Long term should be 10 years so:

Long term 10 years
Short term 3 years
Near future <1 year

Sounds very reasonable.

Dogecoin is a good coin? Yeah sure....
Yea I hate dogecoin. I have never seen a share or a coin like dogecoin. Investment to this coin is madness. I can not understand people who invest their money in this coin. The coin is very very awkward and the movements are so boring. I don't have enough patience to wait this coin. And I think also the future of this coin is not brillant. Good luck to everyone who invest their money in this coin.

What would be "long term" or "the future"?

For many altcoins the future is 6 months. For Bitcoin it's been several years but for most others barely even one, two or three.

Is long-term 10 years? 5 years?

Some alt are here almost as long as bitcoin bitcoin (litecoin for example first of them and still kicking). True is that most dont survive a month not to mentioned more think that for alt should be if they survive 6 month then they have future or can survive. So many were scams and drop from developing that think this may be good factor for indication if coin is good or not.

There's something I like to add on aside from Litecoin, and dogecoin, ETH, and NEM, that will survive in the near future. Those altcoin had established big community in crypto currency, and developed some project in this industry also. especially litecoin price now is below 0,004 satoshi. So better now to buy it then hold it,

It depends on what will come next, every new alt must have something new to offer to survive long term, i always believed that BTC will not be used for everyday transactions so there is room there, LTC wants to play that role but there is room for others.

Ethereum, Monero, Vcash? 2 years ago.

Nope, but depend on his development, the serious dev will always try to developing his project with seriously and makes it bigger.

i think its because there is many altcoin that we should know and the trend is always change but for bitcoin, there is always in the top position in crypto currency. i think the old coins will be stay and will good to be long term investment. so be ready to hold the altcoin for long term, i am sure that the altcoin trend will come back when bitcoin price is getting stable position.

Cloak Coin has great community, and fantastic dev team. So far everything they promised they have delivered. They are self funded community with very good ideas.
You can compare Cloak with other anon coins but best would be to test in by yourself.
Soon will be finalized wallet and who know what else they preparing for us.

Great. Thanks for the information. I have been following Cloakcoin's development closely, and it has managed to provide stability and innovation for the cryptocurrency over these days. It would only be a matter of time before dark net markets, adopt CLOAK for a positive effect in its market cap and price.

The ENIGMA feature of CLOAK looks quite interesting, and if it becomes successful, it can help the cryptocurrency to reach new heights. I might consider investing into it, just in case it sparks in price over the year.

Nevertheless, I believe that anon coins are the ones which are mostly prone to survive for the long term.  Wink
