Yes. Ethereum is one of the best altcoins around. It's always in active development, and every day it improves to become a better cryptocurrency for the masses just like Bitcoin. The most exciting thing about Ethereum is the smart contracts feature which allows the immutability of applications. Of course, Ethereum has been rolled back in the DAO hard fork, which violates the perception of immutability, but even so, it will be a crypto that will continue to grow in the market for years to come.
Considering the amount of community support it has, as well as active development, and innovation, Ethereum will most likely survive in the future. What's best here is that it will soon shift to PoS consensus, making it more scalable and environmentally friendly for the mainstream world. It's only a matter of time before ETH becomes a strong cryptocurrency like Bitcoin.
Things aside, another altcoin that might survive in the future is Ethereum Classic. The reason for this is because it captures Ethereum's original value proposition of immutability. Of course, it is quite slow in development, but it has managed to implement monetary policy that will limit its supply to no more than 210 million coins in existence. As such, I believe that demand will continue to rise for ETC and it will survive in the future. Just my thoughts
